Review The Noble - Milwaukee

Shaan Somani
My girlfriend and I came in for a late dinner on a Saturday night. The restaurant is an intimate space with only a handful of tables. After waiting a bit to be seated, we shared a couple main entrees and an appetizer. Be warned - portion sizes are quite generous. One entree could realistically feed two people, so I would either bring a big appetite or plan to take home leftovers. I loved the tomato soup and the pasta dish. Their cocktails were also delicious. There were plenty of options for vegetarians. Their menu changes on a daily basis so I look forward to coming back and trying something entirely new!

We love this place so much we now regularly drive two hours to eat here. The cake will change your life. Don't skip it. The servings are HUGE, and I've never had a meal I didn't like. Things to know that to me add so much charm: -The menu changes every day, no, you can't see it ahead of time. -It's tiny, cozy, and intimate. -If you want to be seated right when they open, you'll have to join the line outside which usually forms 30-45 minutes before opening. Even in the winter months. -The cake is a homemade family recipe. It's actually perfect. -All the staff are so friendly. We always love seeing our server! Highly, highly recommend.

Always 5 stars. And always arrive at 5 if you want a table! Love the changing menu, it never disappoints. We had the shrimp and grits cakes...incredible flavor and huge shrimp, just amazing. For main entree I had the pork dish. Tender juicy pork, ate every last bite. And I can't forget the team running the restaurant and kitchen: they are small but mighty! So warm and friendly despite a packed house. You must go to the Noble!!

Finally! I've been living in Milwaukee for two years and I finally made it to The Noble's Monday brunch! The Noble does brunch only on Mondays. The wait is long, but I think it's worth it! We got there at 10:30 and waited 30 minutes for The Noble to open. The inside of the restaurant is cramped (about 6 tables and a bar), so would be difficult with a large group. They have a standard menu for brunch, but they also have specials that change daily with three specialty cocktails. My friend ordered the bloody mary and it came with a giant crab cake! The coffee cocktail came with a slice of tiramisu! You sure get your money's and time's worth here! The whole thing is definitely an experience. While the ordering felt rushed, we did have to wait a long time for our food. I ordered the strawberry peach french toast which was perfectly fried and the sauce was delicious! One of my friends got the enchilada which was huge and everything was perfectly cooked in it! My other friend got the egg in a nest because we wanted to try the cheesy hash. I'm so glad we did! The cheesy hash was so good and would be the best hangover cure! I loved the food and the menu and was worth the wait and the price. Wouldn't recommend this place if you're short on time in Milwaukee, but if you can spare it, or you're a local, the foodie in you will thank you!

My wife and I went here after a couple friends recommended it to us and we absolutely loved it! It's small but that just makes it that much more intimate. Our food was absolutely fantastic and so was the service! The menu changes depending on what they get that day so it makes you want to go back again and again! We will definitely be back!

The ambience is charming & lovely. The place is really small and definitely worth trying. The only thing is you don’t know the menu ahead of time...... I had a old fashioned drink and it was perfect! The staff were extremely friendly. We had a trio of spreads app & I must say this was the best choice out of everything we had all night!!! The main courses were good and the plates portions are generous.

I love coming to the Noble for brunch every time I can. They have a static menu as well as new specials every day. The staff is super friendly. Be prepared to wait, as they’re extremely popular. But it’s worth the wait!

Oh my god! First time eating here and I am amazed at how good the food is. If could give more than 5 stars I would. Food amazing, drinks tasty, and staff awesome.

The Noble use to be a secret....but the word is out...If you want fresh everything...produce, meat, fish, prepared to perfection..this is the place! A quaint, intimate and cozy, restaurant with a comparable 5 star Zagat quality fare: the Noble, located in the trendy 5th ward has it all. A small one room dining area (outside seating is available when weather permits) with a bar made from craftsman of days gone bye with carved, ornate, dark oak wood set the ambiance of the evening. I am a bar preference person and this was really a very comfortable setting that let me chat with the owner: April one of the proprietors and our server Caroline. The owners: April & Dave take the greatest pride in the preparation of their fare. When presented the menu by Caroline, it came with the multiple choices that change daily. Caroline took great care to explain the specially prepared items for this particular evening. From the soup that had spices that never before caressed my palate to the "Hunter's Special" a succulent, super large tenderloin steak prepared to the perfect temperature, and seasoned with a heavenly smokey flavor and topped with melted cheese. This entree was accompanied with garlic mash potatoes and asparagus spears. The portion was large enough for a satisfying midnight snack. We ordered the Caprice salad that was made with what tasted like vegetables picked outside their back door and topped with mozzarella cheese. My better-three quarter, had the fish that was described as light and favorable it was like eating spiced clouds. There wasn't anything that I could give a negative. The price was indicative of a fine dining restaurant but with the ambiance of a cozy walk in European cafe. I highly recommend this experience. But, you had better go early because of its size and local reputation, this jewel fills fast. Enjoy!

What a amazing little place to go for dinner. We shared our meal. Started with appetizer it was a French onion with beef and cheese served with some yummy bread. The main meal was a steak with crab/ shrimp. The best was the dessert. Not even sure how to describe besides delicious!! Can’t wait to go back and try other dishes. Everyone has said nothing but wonderful things about the noble. The prices were very reasonable. See you soon!

I’m not one to write reviews, but this absolutely blew me away. The service is the best I’ve ever had. Incredible knowledge of the menu. The menu has constantly rotating entrees and they all sounded delicious. They have one chef in a small kitchen and the food he produces makes a mockery of anything I’ve ever been served. The price is amazingly affordable for the quality of service and dining you will receive. Truly a hidden gem of milwaukee and the Midwest. A must visit. We will be back regularly.

The Noble should definitely be the first and last place you go when visiting Milwaukee. Approachable menu, friendly staff, small cozy atmosphere makes this the place to go for a date or with friends. In a world of Tapas, this place is opposite. Large servings of amazing dishes make this a spot to binge a craving or share a bunch of plates with your mates. GO!

My husband and I had an early Friday night dinner at The Noble and we loved it! The small menu with straightforward options was refreshing. I had the catch of the day, my husband had a steak and both were delicious. We started with a spread trio that was perfect. The pink drink was just sweet enough with a sour twist and our server was happy to help with wine pairings. The dessert was my absolute favorite, an absolutely decadent dish layered with cheesecake and dense (I'm guessing pound cake) that I will be craving for the rest of my life! Although seating is limited, getting in for early dinner was great. Food and service was stellar! Definitely a new favorite spot!

Wonderful food and atmosphere! I love that they don’t take reservations for those of us who are spontaneous. The owners and staff are the best!! There is no better desert in Milwaukee. Top 5 favorite meals of all time!

Tiny restaurant with a very cozy atmosphere. Music is great, food is great and servers are nice. We loved the place and will come back for sure.

The food was amazingly good! The place is very small and cozy, so they run a "tight ship" of keeping everyone in their "place"... the owner/server just needs to soften her approach with people.... she's got a good thing going, and approach to service can make or break. (Learn from your other servers who were much more approachable)

The food is fantastic, no doubts about that. However the attitude of the woman seating people was domineering, to say the least. After waiting 45 minutes for our baked egg brunch dish, she rudely interrupted our server and told us that had she known we were going to order the baked eggs, SHE would have told us it takes longer to prepare, so why didn't we ask?! What a piece of work. The rest of the wait staff was great, but she needs to take a step back and remember who the customer is. She probably should have had another shot while she was taking up space behind the bar to mellow her tude. Will go again and hopefully she's not there.

The food has been exceptional. This is not the issue. While I sympathize with the size of the space, guests shouldn’t be whipping posts for a stressed out hostess who is also the owner. I’ve now experienced this on two visits. After work, my friend and I (both 30+ yr business owners in the service industry) wanted to relax and have dessert and a drink. It was 10pm. We were refused a table and told we could order something to go. Yes yes, it’s a small place so roll with our issue: sit on our dilapidated chairs, stand by our bathroom doors, teeter at the tiny bar, order entrees or get out! ok, we’ll order dessert to go..... We were ignored. Banished to you’ve ordered-the-wrong-thing island. Then she made a snide comment about us to a ‘preferred’ patron she was seating for dinner. It was not noble behavior.

Always a great time at the noble. It’s my favorite restaurant in the city. Great ambiance including amazing music playlists created by the staff. Food is always on point and they have good cocktails and wines. I will sadly miss this place when I move.

This place was absolutely amazing!!! I was in Milwaukee for the day and stumbled upon this restaurant and I was immensely impressed with everything! The staff, my wine, the appetizers and my entree! I would come back to Milwaukee just for this gem of a restaurant! High recommendations!!!

David and April have found the perfect combination of upscale dining and down home service. The food is phenomenal!!! I’ve never had a bad dish and everyone I’ve sent to the restaurant has said it was “life changing.” The staff is friendly and knowledgeable and the decor has a vintage quirkiness that I love. I always find something new hanging on the wall. Do yourself a favor and get to the Noble.

Stumbled upon this gem on our way to an event at Steny's; couldn't wait to leave event and dine at The Noble! Exquisite menu, service, and ambience! Would recommend and will return!

Horrible experience. Have been Here numerous times. Always Loved the food and environment. Tonight, Over crowded w people waiting. Literally, peoples butts in our faces as we ate. Bumped into numerous times by people waiting and staff. Mentioned it to owner who told me “maybe the noble isn’t for me”. The owner, really? Aren’t there capacity limits?

It is hard to politely describe the experience of entering an EMPTY restaurant to meet a group of people, ready and willing to spend money for cocktails and a meal, to learn that our group had been refused service because the staff thought we would stay too long! Yep, that is what happened. No customers in the whole place and 8 people told to go eat somewhere else. Have you ever heard of anything so crazy? Guess the staff preferred to send business to Crazy Water just down tbe street. That is where we ended up which turned out to be great. Full House, good food, polite staff. We had to sit at two tables but that was OK. Walked past The Noble on the way back to our cars and there were only two people in the dining room. No wonder, when the staff tells paying customers to go somewhere else. No reservations needed because there was plenty of seating. The owners may want to rethink the marketing technique and update the staff about customer service. Hard to have a happy customer when they aren't allowed to order anything. No wonder the place was empty. The waiter at Crazy Water seemed to enjoy the $70 tip our table left him. The Noble's loss was his gain. So, you might want to walk past The Noble and enjoy another establishment where the staff know what customer service is all about. 🖓🖓🖓

I've raved about the noble (especially their service industry brunch) for years but lately all I've heard about is their rude service. Went there today for my 30th bday brunch to do something special and they. were. so. rude. We were lectured after not even arguing when asked to move and then immediately ID'ed even tho we had been there 20 minutes and hadn't even been greeted or asked for a drink order. The host wouldn't stop telling us they closed in 10 minutes, though it was 40 minutes before close and we had been waiting a while to be greeted. The great food won't get you far with a front of the house that thinks they're better than the customers. Will not go back.

Fun great staff, awesome food. Like the idea of daily menu. A little pricey.
