St. Paul Restaurant in Milwaukee offers a unique dining experience that blends the vibrancy of a bustling public market with the pleasure of fresh, well-prepared food. However, be prepared for a trade-off between ambiance and convenience. The restaurant's location within the public market is both a highlight and a challenge. The market's lively atmosphere and diverse shopping options add a special touch to the dining experience, making it an interesting destination for food lovers. However, the popularity of St. Paul Restaurant means that it often feels overcrowded, and seating can be limited. Guests should anticipate longer waiting times, especially during peak hours. Once seated, the food does not disappoint. The menu is characterized by freshness and quality, with each dish prepared to a high standard. The flavors are delightful, showcasing the skill of the kitchen in turning simple ingredients into memorable meals. While the seating constraints might deter some, those willing to embrace the bustling nature of the market are rewarded with a culinary experience that is both authentic and enjoyable. St. Paul Restaurant is ideal for those who appreciate good food and are happy to immerse themselves in the dynamic environment of Milwaukee's public market. In conclusion, if you're visiting Milwaukee and looking for a unique dining experience, St. Paul Restaurant offers excellent food in the midst of a vibrant market setting. Just remember to go in with a little patience for the wait, and you'll likely find the experience well worth it.

It's a fantastic restaurant at the Milwaukee Public Market. We had the oyster shooters, fried calamari, a New England clam chowder bowl, and cod fry with French fries. All were delicious. The service was superb.

Phenomenal food! Small place with only a few tables… we went later in the night on a week night and got seated rather quick (I have seen the line get nuts on weekends). Bouillabaisse was absolutely incredible! Would drive back to Milwaukee just for it! Broth is delicious and they do an excellent job of giving you lots of dipping bread. Fish dishes were also excellent. Got the fried grouper and the pan fried walleye. If I could only pick one… I would pick the walleye. Highly recommend!

Very limited space. Always got to waiting for a table. The lobster roll and the steamed mussels are signature. The fish fry was ok. I like the raw oyster on shell over the oyster shooters. The shooter comes with a beer chaser. It used to cost $20 per person for a meal, now it costs $40.

We ordered three dishes: Oyster platter, st. paul bouillabaisse, and Lobster roll. Overall the food was delicious. The price is considered not too expensive. The oysters were so fresh, I ate 30 of them 😂 I'll definitely go back to eat them again if I have a chance.

Excellent food! My parents took us here while we were visiting. We ordered: crab cakes, lobster bisque, oysters, steamed clams, calamari and king crab legs. The seafood was all super fresh and delicious. Service was good. This place was pretty busy for being a week day so I imagine weekends are generally slammed. Can’t say I am surprised!

Wonderful place to go for some good fish. There's so many options, from fish to crab to lobster. I had the grilled Swordfish with the butter dip. Absolutely delicious and cooked to perfection. My wife had the cod fish fry. The fillets were thick and flaky, and the batter wasn't too greasy. I would definitely check this place out.

Well well well, lobster roll amazing, calamari steak had the perfect sauce. Mussels had the best sauce and topped off with a tray of oyster 🦪.. just landed and I think I'm coming back every day until I leave. I absolutely loved it

The staff worked as a well oiled machine while being super nice. The decor made the atmosphere amazing combined with the music selections. Then the apps and food were absolutely the best seafood that I’ve ever had in Wisconsin. Honestly can’t say enough good things about this establishment.

Knew we had to stop at a seafood place while we were in Milwaukee, so happy we found this place! I got the fried calamari and the cajun swordfish sandwich and they were amazing. Our waiter was Patrick and he was very nice and attentive. Perfect crunchy breading on the calamari and the sandwich was SO juicy and tender. 2 drinks, 1 appetizer and 2 meals totaled us $65.

We lucked out and got a table by the window on a Saturday morning. We started with fried calamari, which was tender and not rubbery like I've had at other places. I ordered grouper cheek fish tacos and a bloody mary, which was a meal in itself with a shrimp skewer, lobster tail and salmon jerky and a beer sidecar. My dining partner had the swordfish sandwich, which was juicy, tender and well seasoned. Everything was fabulous, including our chill laid-back server.

I don’t think I have seen my father in law this happy in a very long time. Thank you for a great lunch. He had the crab boil dinner and in the words of my MIL it takes three to eat it. (He did just fine and loved every bite). Even better it’s nothing like he ever thought he could have in Wisconsin.

Nestled within Milwaukee's vibrant Public Market, St. Paul Fish Company offers a solid seafood experience in a bustling spot downtown. Food: The food was good, but nothing out of this world. We ordered shrimp, mussels, and oysters, which were all fresh and flavorful. The clam chowder was tasty as well, but its small size and $4.50 price tag felt a bit steep. However, the bill of $55 for a party of 3 was surprising, and felt like a bargain for seafood. Service: The service was the only real downside, and although the waiters were attentive, they were somewhat unfriendly and seemed disinterested the entire time. Personally, I am not a fan of that but, to each their own. Atmosphere: St. Paul Fish Company benefits from a vibrant atmosphere. We sat at the bar (which is always fun), and Milwaukee's Public Market is a must-visit spot. The unique setting definitely elevates the dining experience. In summary, I'd rate St. Paul Fish Company a 4/5. It's a solid choice for seafood, although not one I'd strongly recommend to friends visiting the city.

Best lobster roll in the city! This is forever one of my favorite places in the public market. Whether you’re receiving table service or at the tiki bar chatting with the friendly bartenders; you are sure to have a good time! Everything is extremely reasonably priced for seafood and you can taste the freshness. Besides the lobster roll, I do love the whole lobster and you can never go wrong with an order of oysters!

One of the highlights of my visit to Milwaukee. Gumbo and Calamari steaks. Gumbo flavorful, steaks fried and seasoned correctly, beurre blanc sauce a knock out, great cook on the mushrooms too. Friendly bartenders on a sunny September day, cold drinks under a tiki canopy. Life is good here.

Great Tiki-like ambiance with super friendly staff. Drinks are very well mixed and food is absolutely delicious. They are pet friendly, we took our pup and they were super nice to him, and they even gave him treats! He loved it!

The best lobster roll I’ve ever had. They offer limited dining seats. Suggested to purchase to go and many seats are available on second floor of the market.

St. Paul Fish in Public Market is my favorite place to eat in Milwaukee, I stop by there even when passing by heading North. Everything is super-fresh and delicious. Big portions. Best fish fry and Bloody Mary on Midwest. Best fresh oysters around. My wife loves lobster roll and crab cakes. My favorites are fresh oysters, peel-n-eat shrimp, steamed mussels, bouillabaisse and lake perch fry. Fresh Schlitz lager on tap!
