The Carriage Corner Restaurant

This was a nice local restaurant for a no fuss meal. Service was good, food came fast, and the quality and price were good. We were in and out in less than 40 mins, the price was only a few dollars more than what we would have paid at McDonald's. I got the roast beef dinner on a Sunday afternoon and have no complaints. Yes it's a little dated and it's not fine dinning but that's not what they are trying to be either. This was our first time here and we would definitely stop again.

Bad service and less than stellar food. When we asked the waitress what was on one of the sandwiches (the menu only had the names), not only could she not tell us, but also couldn’t be bothered to find out the information. The mushrooms on the hamburger were at room temperature and the cheese was just-out-of-the-refrigerator cold. The actually burger was bland. The beef vegetable soup also lacked seasoning. The only redeeming quality was the hostess, who was very nice and give us free monkey bread.

We had the buffet. The salad bar had a nice selection, the buffet was on the smaller side but the ham and stuffing was delicious. I am not or never have been, a fan of instant mashed potatoes. I love real mashed potatoes and I just think they should be available in restaurants. Another thing that bothers me about buffets is how some of the meats are cooked and then set in a pan of broth the flavor of the meat. This gives the meat a waterdowned flavor rather than a good flavor. The beef was very tender but the taste was watered. I'm pretty sure the servers split the tips, this is another thing I didn't care for because I like to tip my server accordingly. I don't want to be tipping for other servers because they did not wait on me and I just don't think it's fair to the servers. The desserts were delicious and I would go back to eat, just to try something off the menu. This is a nice little buffet but if you are looking for something with a bigger selection this may not be the place for you. The 3 stars is only because of the beef, the mashed potatoes, and the shared tips. This is a clean place, friendly and quick service.

It is not run well. We waited for 15-20 min for someone to acknowledge the fact that we were seated. There was a waitress standing there; and I asked her if she can help us, which started an argument right in front of my eyes between the waitress and the owner (who seated us). The waitress was angry saying that there is no one in her section; and the owner was saying people sit where they want to sit. Another 10 minutes, the owner comes and takes our drink order. Then we overhear the owner lady telling the waitress that she can have our table but the waitress does not want us because she thinks we already waited too long and would not be happy with the service no matter what. Anyways, we are still sitting there hungry. Another 15 minutes and people who arrived after us are already eating while no one took our order; at that point, we just packed and left. From start the finish, it was 45 min - 50 min experience; and we came and left hungry. All this time, we could not even order our food. If the main area is managed this poorly, I don’t want to know how their kitchen is run. And yes, decor was cute but there were cobwebs on most items around us. We are seated at Ard’s Farm restaurant right now and our server acknowledged us and took our order within less than 10 minutes. So far, it is looking better here.
