I'm not thrilled.
Generally, I like La Carrera. This one left a lot to be desired.
I had yuca von mojo. The mojo was basically lemon juice with a suggestion of garlic. I know Cuban food. My mom would spin in her grave and get up and go cook.
I had chuletas with rice and black beans. The pork chops we're good. Not dry or chewy. However, the chef left his seasonings at home. Very flat taste.
The yuca, or cassava, was dry! Again, flat tasting.
I'll give them this, the beer was perfectly ice cold and don says his sangria was spot on. He had a breaded fish sandwich and left half of it. Said the taste was bland and not crispy though breaded.
All in all, the La Carrera I'd say skip.
If you read me normally, you know I don't do negative as a usual thing. Sadly this place earned it.
On the bright side, the bathroom is immaculate and the service in the time of COVID is within reason.

Tried to call in for a lunch takeout order and was told I couldn’t order unless I spoke Spanish. The woman on the phone asked for my phone number (in Spanish which I understood) and as a non-Spanish speaker I did my best to communicate with her but she just hung up. I’ve always loved their food but their service could use some work.

Certainly a place worth visiting, the food is good and well prepared, the costs are affordable and it is regularly well organized there. Keep up the good work.

Plantain soup without beef, and little flavor. Much better Cuban restaurants in Miami.

The only reason i can’t put a one star is because google wont take it. What a shame, I've been eating here with my family for years unfortunately this is what happens when you hire someone fresh from another country that doesn’t understand what customer service is. As a cuban American im a shame that our Venezuelan cousins provided such a horrible service to me . I called on a Friday and received the wrong items on my order because of the waitress taking orders made a mistake. Unfortunately this things do happen , we are all humans. What you do afterwards is what matters or so i thought. When i called the restaurant christi the waitress that took the order assured me that would receive the credit for the wrong oder the next day . The next day i call and i had to jump through loops to get her to honor her word . I even went as far as trying to order extra items to help out the restaurant and pay for the delivery . Not only that but i guess she was mad and hung up the phone . When i called back to speak to her supervisor . I did t get a name but she stated she was from Venezuela. When i asked if in Venezuela and employee hangs up the phone on a customer that is not screaming or cursing what would they do to them , she surprisingly answered me joden pal carajo, meaning i would be fuc€!*ing screwed . Words i wasn't expecting from a waitress yet alone a supervisor. Is sad i didn't get a name but this happen today Friday January 30 at around 0515pm hopefully someone else reads this and sets things right. Otherwise stay alway from here.
