Mostly great food, cozy yet loud atmosphere. Staff was extremely friendly and professional, but extremely slow. There was only two tables occupied (counting mine) but there was still an long wait for the food and it was a mission to flag down the waitress. A bit on the expensive side, too. Prices definitely caught me off guard. Overall I'd recommend though, most of the items on the menu are fantastic and authentic.

Love this spot. The food is legit Dominican and the staff is cool/friendly...i went to the other one across the street for a change and walked out due to their poor customer service and also their side order menu isnt as good as what El Malecon offers if you're Vegan. I usually get Mangu, rice, beans and fries. Highly recommend this place!

This place has a very good selection of Dominican dishes. We have eaten here multiple times and the food here is great. Music on TV entertainment plays in the background too.

Always have a good time and good meal here. I love my Mangu 4 gulpes. I have taken my guy friends here to try good Dominican food since I can't cook lol. The other day I decided to take my mom and girlfriend here got breakfast on my birthday. They decorated my table with balloons and later sang me happy birthday with tipico Dominican Music playing and a complimentary Flan. Thank you guys so much

The Shortcut to Dominican Republic, great Dominican spot, where you can find all kind of typical food that Dominic Republic have from the populate mangu with the tres golpes, mofongo, mondongo, sancocho, asopao, different types of moros, spicy goat, chimis & more. I ate the Quipes and the Empanadas, this taste like it was home make, the taste is almost the same as they do it in the island. This is the best quipes and empanadas I have taste in USA. I recommend it. You can find a variety of juices, soda and beer, which they are very popular in DR. The staffs are very friendly and helpful. So, if you are into Dominican food this is a perfect place to try it all.

The churrasco is so good and their Dominican/Peruvian options are delicious. Coldest beers in Miami! Fun family environment & delicious food.

Had lunch here today, it was really good! I had the "4 golpes Mangú". I walked in with my wife and 5 minutes after, our food was in the table!

All I can say is that I'm surprised my wife and I just didn't walk out. I've never walked out of a restaurant feeling so bad and it wasn't because of the food. The service S^%#ked. We were never served what we ordered even when they acknowledged the error. We waited, soon we realized that there were other tables more important then ours. Never again....

Beware of the man taking delivery orders. I'vre read the reviews posted on this site, and though I partially agree with some of the comments, I have to say that my experience with the food itself has been positive. So much so that I was a regular customer until today. And it saddens me to think that I will have to resort to another venue for my weekday cravings. Because going forward, that is exactly what I will do. In Spanish we have a saying, "El ojo del amo alimenta el caballo" . It would behoove the owner, or owners of El Malecon to pay close attention to their rather new staff. The ladies that took the telephone orders months ago were personable and a delight to work with. And the waitresses, especially one by the name of Casilda, and even Miguel, the driver who delivered to our door, did and a lot in terms of good pulbic relations for this establishment. However, lately another man has been taking the orders, and he is the antithesis of everyone I've mentioned. In my view, this is the apple that spoiled the barrel. I don't know what the deal is with this person, but his attitude leaves a lot to be desired. And without going into details I'll just say that El Malecon lost a very consistent customer today because of a disgruntled employee, someone that is obviously working for the paycheck, and nothing more.

The service super slow and inefficient , the quality if the food very ordinary. The fish was have frozen served , the waitress did not offer to exchange it or discount it from the bill. Not a good experience.

If you are looking for the worst rest. this is the deal. I went last Saturday w. three more people , because we like to try different s types of food but :
Attention : 0
meal 1
Time served 0
the a/c apparently was broken is a meal by the pound w tables.

Lunch at El Malecon. I went to El Malecon for lunch with a group of friends. This is about the fourth time I go. This time I had the asopao de pollo (chicken stew). It was great. I recommend you bring a friend. My portion was pretty large, and I barely finished. You might need help. Save room for dessert. Everytime I go, I try something new. Thank goodness it hasn't been a waste. My kids, wife and I really like this spot. It's pretty tasty. I strongly recommend it.

Well, I ate there for the first time today (9/12/12) and the food was ABSOLUTELY DELICIOUS.I had the Pastelon (Sweet Plaintain Lasagna) and it was one of the best dishes I have ever eaten. In fact it was sooo good, I went back in a 2nd time to order one for my Mom. I also tried the Mangu which was terrific ad well. Will definitely go back. Loved it!!

WORST Dominican restaurant!!. For my husband not to eat this food says a lot about this place, because my husband is “Timmy” he east anything. First of all we sat at our table for 30 minutes before someone took our order. The waitress came back after another 45 min with the wrong order. THE FOOD WAS AWEFUL!!! Don’t bother. I only went for the Monfongo. If you're looking for monfongo go to Old San Juan.

THIS PLACE IS HORRIBLE!!!. Don't beleive all those 5 Star Reviews all in the same day... Those are paid reviews where this one is real.

I wish I could give it less than one star... Here is a list:

1. The service was horrible, it took forever...
2. The churrasco steak was MUCH, MUCH smaller than pictured in the menu...
3. There were rocks in the white rice...lots of them.
4. My wife had fried pork chunks, they were burnt and cooked in dirty oil...
5. The wait staff didn't know what was going on (it is a new restaurant)
6. When the hostess asked me how I liked it I told her that there were several disapointments with our food...SHE WASN'T INTERESTED AT ALL...

I'm usually pretty easy going when it comes to food. I'm not very picky at all. But this was just one of the worst meals I've had in a restaurant. I have to agree with the previous posting...I would rather stay home and cook.

Finally a great Dominican restaurant in the Kendall area. All the food is great and fresh. And the plus is that they deliver and the prices are good too. Highly recommend. Try the breakfast tres golpes and the habichuelas are very good. True Dominican food. Will go every week.
Miguelina
