Review Chop House 305 - Miami

Chad Naville-Cook
Food was delicious and like all the other reviews have said, the portions are HUGE. One entree fed 2 people and the sides were split among 4 and there were still leftovers which I feel justified the price. HOWEVER, we thought it was going to be relatively casual and walked in wearing shorts and shirts that were nice because we saw casual people eating on the balcony the night before, but still felt awkward, dress like you would for Ruths Chris or Capital Grill. Unfortunately, they did treat us badly because we were dressed nice casual... too bad because it looked like they have the ability to give stellar service.

I like New York steak. The service was excellent.

We ate at the bar with an ocean view, Chophouse offers a good happy hour menu, and the place seems to be a bit rustic even though we understand its concept of being a steakhouse and these places tend to aim for a more serious environment. Even though we think that there are better steakhouses in Miami, we recommend it for their happy hour. They don’t have valet parking and finding a parking spot in Downtown Miami can get complicated.

Beware this place goes under many different names due to bad reviews... Get ready to get raped $$$$$!!!! Extremely overpriced for the quality of food, poor, slow service. My wife ordered grilled octopus that came out caked in salt so she asked to switch her meal which wasn't a problem with the staff. The waiter apologized and said he was taking it off the bill so we said ok. I ordered the strip steak and the waiter asked "What would you like your side to be?" He rattled off a list and I said mashed potatoes would be fine. After a lengthy wait with no follow up service, I was served a plain small steak without any garnish on a colossal platter. Naturally I thought that the mashed potatoes (that were served in a separate bowl) was a part of the meal -- especially because I was asked for my choice of a side. Which restaurant would serve a piece of meat on a plain plate without so much as a piece of parsley and call it a meal?

When we got the bill, nothing was taken off as promised and the mashed potatoes appeared as a separate $8 charge! We found this to be absurd. No one ever told us about the extra $8 charge. When I ordered the steak, I was asked for my choice of a "side". I wasn't asked if I wanted a side. It's completely deceptive. When we called the waiter over, he started getting loud and obnoxious and waiving his hands in the middle of our table. We felt very uncomfortable. When we tried to explain the discrepancies, he aggressively stated "Look you're getting what you paid for" and "I don't understand you" to the point of ruining our dinner and our last night in Miami.
Oh yeah, and before i forget they had the nerve to add 18% gratuity and not even tell us the tip was included. This place steals every last dime out of you every way they can..read all the reviews below..Im not the only one, and oh yeah I love the guy who says they must have flown his lobster in first class with Louis Vuitton mittons for the meal price of $240...lol...thats hysterical.. unless your paying the bill...STAY AWAY

Beware of this place..they keep changing the name too..it was Just chop house..you can search on Yelp..they added the 305
