Food here is very tasty and delicious. Service is quick and their staff are kind. The only reason I don’t give them 5 stars is because the Restrooms are nasty, i have visited the place several times and same scenario. Gas station restrooms are sometimes cleaner. If you have kids it would be a challenge.
This location is located within a short drive off the turnpike. Fast and friendly service. Our waitress was prompt and friendly and our food came out quicker than we thought it would.
The brisket and fries were good, they don’t allow you to swap out a side for a different side, therefore I did not eat the coleslaw. The frozen mango margarita was surprisingly better than expected - you just never know with them!
We were full out of the 2 of us. Our leftovers made a whole other servings more.

Shorty’s BBQ Restaurant was a good late night stop for dinner for a hungry crew. It’s great for large groups with long tables that can accommodate a lot of people at one time. They always seem to be busy so call ahead with a large group.
In peak times parking can be an issue, the lot is small so consider this when planning a trip there.
The ribs are amazing, pulled pork is soooo delish! Very generous portions, I brought a huge amount home for leftovers. The wings were also really good. They only have beer and wine, not a full bar. They have margaritas but they were too sweet for even me and that’s saying something.. would not recommend those.
Kids are welcome, it’s a loud, family style place that is not fancy but very relaxed, sports games always on the many TVs all around the place. Easy and relaxed place to be.
A staple for any local down here in Miami! Best beef Brisket in Florida. Service is fast food is heavier but man is worth every bite. I normally stick to lighter foods but to heck with it so good. It's a part of the local scene down here and must to stop by! You will enjoy it.
The service was excellent. the food, the food at This location is by far the best of all their locations. I've been going here ever since I was a little kid, Many years before the great fire, they rebuilt, but it wasn't quite the same ever again, but it's still really good. I highly recommend the brisket sandwich and the spare ribs. Those are my two favorite dishes. The Corn on the cob, which I used to love, is no longer served in real butter; it's something else. I don't know what it is, but the taste isn't the same. And I know that's only a year of corn, but it's a great disappointment to me.
Although Shorty's BBQ - Dadeland-South Dixie is almost an hour away from where I live, it's worth the drive. The Shorty's that's closest to me does not have cornbread. But the one at Dadeland does. The baby back ribs and the brisket are fantastic.
Amazing food! Waitress Dory and Hostess Mary were super nice.
Dory went well above and beyond for us... hard to do on a busy holiday weekend for most restaurants but not her!
Had the ribs and chicken fingers. Food and French fries all amazing! The Buttery corn on the cob was ridiculously amazing.

Okay so 3.5 stars if I could — and that’s for Florida BBQ level quality. I haven’t really found anything that is incredible in all of Florida personally.. the only place I’ve seen that looks close to home from the pics is $40/lb brisket and I haven’t tried it yet..
If I’m being honest compared to brisket back in Texas — or even two places I found in LA — this place is 1 star in comparison. You pretty much need to smoke for at least 18 hours to get that burnt edge, they claim 12 hours here I believe (?)
But— I’m not in those places, and I’m in Florida — so for Florida it’s a really decent option, the price point is perfect for the area. Just know what to expect, and you won’t be disappointed. If you’re looking for that melt in your mouth TX style bbq, this is not it. I’m on a quest to find that here… the quest continues
The key lime pie is GREAT! I’ve had 5 “best of” going all the way down to key west, also Joe’s stone crab, fireman Derek’s etc and I think this one might be one of my favorites. Some of those others might be more “authentic” and tart. But this one is so smooth, sweet, and creamy in texture. It was a huge slice, great value, and delicious.
Great food and fair price. Definitely a great southern BBQ experience. The brisket deserves a special compliment: tasty and well made. I strongly recommend a visit to Shorty’s
Great prices, very convenient location and delicious BBQ. We ordered take out: pound and a half of brisket for $37, comes with the house BBQ sauce and beans, and the order came out quickly, pretty good if you make the side dishes at home it can turn into a great dinner.
Gotta have options in this economy, and this is definitely one!
