Review Happy Bao's - Mesa

Yum! I’m so glad I tried this place and will definitely be going back. I especially loved the chili wonton, Dan Dan noodle, and chicken fried rice! The dessert baos were good too—just the right amount of sweetness. Can’t wait to go again!

I had the hardest time locating this place as it is located inside a plaza. They should add this information to their Google profile. The place itself is small, but it is very clean. They have only a couple of tables inside. This place is popular, I was inside for about 45 minutes, and there were a lot of customers coming in to dine, and others are taking food to go. The service was quick. As soon as I sat down, I was offered a glass of water. I was given the menu, and I asked for recommendations. Their servers were attentive and polite. For the 45 minutes I was inside, their servers asked me 4 times if I needed anything else and if I am still ok. I ordered the recommended dishes from the menu. I got the beef noodle soup, the spicy chili wantons, and the combo bao. The beef noodle soup was amazing. I loved how the broth was tasty and subtle, not overpowering. I loved how the noodles were al dente, and the cilantro enhanced the flavor very well. The spicy chili wantons were ok. It's not the best I had. The bao were also ok. I paid about $50, including the tip. The servings were big, and what I ordered would be good for two people. I took half of my food to go as I couldn't finish everything. I think the price is worth it. Their amazing service is what makes this place special. I absolutely recommend this place, and I will definitely go back.

This has been a place I have been wanting to visit for a long time! It didn’t live up to the best expectations but the food was delivered very quickly but the waiters didn’t check often and did mess up on our orders. Xiao Long Baos are a must! The Dan Dan noodles were another favorite. Everything could have used a bit more spice to me so don’t forget to ask for chili oil! And seating isn’t plentiful so arrange some time for seating.

It’s really rare to find a place with so many authentic Chinese dishes range from northern China dumplings, Shanghai Shengjian Bao, and Cantonese seafood fried rice in one place. We ordered five different dishes from different part of China, and they are all so delicious! Moreover, it has great control of the amount of oil they used. Many restaurants use excessive cooking oil too enhance the flavor but sacrificing the long term health part, but this restaurant did an amazing to keep the rich flavor and cooking oil usage. It gets packed in a weekday noon so we had to order to go to eat outside shared tables. It’s definitely worth it. Highly recommended meals: Signature dumplings, House fried rice. We will keep trying other meals during future visits.

I almost want to keep this place a secret but it would be a crime for others not to enjoy the same experience😭. Recently found this place and it's all I can ever think of. This time we tried something new. This is the Chili Dumplings, Xiao Long Bao, and we couldn't stay away from classic Singapore Rice Noodles on this trip😬. This place has great portions, flavor, and service! There will most likely always be a bit of a wait so I recommend arriving with time especially for larger parties. You CANNOT I repeat CANNOT walk away from this establishment without trying the Honey Sauce Ribs. You will thank me later. Don't hesitate to come back on here and share any favorites! I'll be returning for some myself very soon. Enjoy! P.S. if you get the Xio Long Bao be careful when you bite into it because it will be VERY hot. All the food is always made fresh ♨️

The soup dumplings are my favorite in Phoenix. The spicy ones are good for adults, but I wouldn't recommend them for kids. The spice reminded me a little of mole chicken spices. The fluffy dumplings were not my favorite. The pork were pretty good. The Hong Kong dice was tasty and can be split between 2 people.

Very good food, 40 minute wait was worth it! I ordered many things my favorite was the xiao long bao. The food wait wasn't that long. The food will definitely fill you up if you go here.

I went with my sister for dinner. I got put on the list because there is not much space to dine in. Once we were seated things went quickly. If you are ordering to go it will still take 30-45 minutes so call ahead. The price on plates for me was a little pricey. The authentic cuisine and spices were delicious. I will be returning but ordering ahead to save myself time.

The beef noodle soup is really good, however the chicken bao is not as good. The staff were friendly but they sometimes get overwhelmed by a lot of customers and forget some stuff.

Was wanting to try this place for forever; and the experience definitely blew me away; we’ve only been to Din Tai Fung and this is like the same taste for a fraction of the price. The service was amazing! and the servers always made sure to ask us if we need anything or need water. Will definitely be coming back!

Oh, man! Where to start. Come for the Dan Dan Noodles... Stay for the Dumplings. I cannot begin to tell you how delicious and fresh everything is here at Happy Baos. The customer service is amazing and the food is beyond delicious. I originally came to try their Dan Dan Noodles a couple years ago. It was absolutely the best noodle bowl I have ever had. Fresh herbs, peanuts, cucumber and that amazing chili oil with the meat... not to mention how tasty their handmade noodles are. You cannot go wrong trying this dish. I also get their Baos and dumplings almost every time. Their chili oil in combination with the fresh ingredients they use in every meal hits the spot every time. I literally drive an hour out of my way several times a month to enjoy this place. Well worth checking out.

Appears to be the latest 'darling' spot due to Tic Tok and IG crowd, but none the less worth the hype. Dumplings are the show here.

I've had Happy Bao's on my radar for a while but since I live in Tucson it's not a drive down the street per se. A reminder that this isn't a plaza so you won't see the restaurant or the sign on the outside but if you're using Google it'll take you to the Mekong Plaza. Walk in the main doors and walk straight back, it'll be on your right. We ordered the seafood wonton noodle soup (delicious), the dandan noodles (delicious), and Xiao Long Bao (delicious). Highly recommended and will be back again when I'm in Mesa. 👏🏻👏🏻 I ate the Xiao Long Bao so fast I didn't take a picture until the last one 😞 One last thing I'll say is I think Happy Bao's would benefit from having its own larger restaurant or another location (Tucson please 🥺)

Excellent food. Service was good. The atmosphere is not bad considering it is just a little nook.

Had early dinner and the food was amazing. We had the seafood soup dumplings, Chinese broccoli, pork BAO, beef short ribs, spicy dumplings. The spicy dumplings tasted great but we're only a mild on the spice level. Great experience definitely recommend eating here.
