Zur Kate German Restaurant - Mesa - Photo album

We have been going to Zur Kate for years for the authentic German food, beer, atmosphere, and service. Recommend the Schnitzel. My favorite is the Ramen but the Weiner is good too. They also have weekly specials that they only serve on Friday and Saturday evenings. Prost!!!
We tried this place for dinner with some friends. We ordered the special, which was ham hock. The sides were spatzle and red cabbage. It was very tender and delicious. We ordered apple Strudel, which was amazing. The restaurant was clean, as were the restrooms. You may have to share a table, but it
Honestly, this is a lovely little gem of the east valley. The food is always good and rhr atmosphere is fantastic and backed up by good service. We split the Cordon Bleu schnitzel. Would recommend and the red cabbage was stellar. Will definitely be coming back again soon
The food was excellent and the service also. Very friendly atmosphere and very clean. Brought back many memories of my Oma's food. Thank you for a wonderful experience! We will definitely be back soon.
Very authentic. German decor and atmosphere with a lovely background of live accordion music. They seemed short-staffed; however, our server was amazing. The food was good as was the beer. Would recommend for pork and beef lovers.
Absolutely delicious! Fast and friendly service. I've been dying to have schnitzel since the first time I tried it years ago, and this really scratched that itch. The live accordion music and rich decor makes eating here a fun experience. Very worth your time!
I worked briefly in Mesa in 1988 and discovered a wonderful German restaurant, jump forward to 2023, I’m back in Mesa and thought “I wonder if that great German restaurant with the accordion player is still there?” Well it is!! Zur Kate looked just the same, might even be the same accordion player.
As a German I love this place one of the few authentic German experiences in The Valley at an affordable price point. Horst is an amazing and friendly host/owner will make your experience more authentic, waitresses are dressed in traditional Bavarian style Dirndls also, you know a lot of cleavage:)
One of my favorite restaurant in east Mesa. I love their schnitzels, they're well cooked with tasty gravy on top. Their side dishes (potatoes, sauerkraut, etc) are great too. If you come the first weekend every month there's a chance to get a ham hock which tastes amazing. All their food is pretty g
What a great restaurant. This had some of the best we have ever had from a restaurant. It is a very quaint place. Service was a little slow, but I think they said they had a new cook trying his best to learn the dishes. Still outstanding tasty dinner. Will for sure go back. I would suggest that on F
Good attention to authentic German dining. Great hostess and waitress staff. Met owner before opening, said we have good specials nightly. He was right! Decent selection of German draft biers. Live German accordion music. A must try for German cuisine.
We've dined at ZurKate for several years. The food is always excellent. We usually have one of the Schnitzels. For desert the Apple Strudel or Black Forest cake is on the menu. Blonde and Rosa both are excellent and friendly servers.
This is my favorite German place in the valley and I always look forward to visiting again. Nice selection of sausages, goulash, and schnitzel. Plus imported German beer. Nice sides and the bread is great too. I haven't been able to try dessert yet-- too full from dinner & drinks!
Food was in general good. I had the smoked pork chop. It tasted like ham. Not what I expected, and since I don't like ham flavor, I didn't enjoy as much. Others had the meatball, schnitzel and sauerbraten which could have been a bit more sour. It was liked, just a personal taste. Sides were sau
Short version: B grade German food that won't break the bank! When you sit next to a table of Germans you know you are in the right place! Decor: Authentic German restraunt, the interior is dated likely the 70s or 80s. The restraunt has an older bar or live in family establishment type of feeling.
Schnitzel was good. Spaetzle was soggy. Chocolate cake was ok, but whipped cream tasted artificial. Great service and atmosphere. Reasonable prices.
The food is excellent and the beer selection is good. The staff is friendly and attentive. The ambiance and live music are great. This place is a gem in Apache Junction.
