Being in central New Hampshire - an appropriate "nice dinner out" can sometimes be challenging, especially later in the evening. After a very long day of much travel, we happened up Lago as a recommendation on Yelp. Why the heck not? Amiright?
First, for a Thursday night, the place was packed. I honestly thought we were getting turned away when we walked in... but no, the hostess pulled a miracle and nearly immediately got us seated. Our waitress, bless her heart I can't remember her name, even though we walked in so close to closing... she greeted us with a smile. I was borderline in tears I was so exhausted and she took the entire experience and turned it on a dime. Cheery, smiles, and a personality as big as the entire restaurant. Our drinks hit the table within minutes. They never ran dry. The martini was on-point and just what I needed to settle and tie-up the ends of the day!
We started with the Tuna Tartare w/ avocado mousse. Lord. I still think about that constantly. ON POINT. For dinner my partner had the Orecchiette Sausage Broccolini (albeit, I feel like his was asparagus vs broccoli? Maybe I'm mistaken). I had the Piccata. Both meals were absolutely delightful. Beautifully plated and served piping hot... I can't say enough wonderful things about the entire experience.
The staff, drinks, price-point, ambiance, and food was absolutely perfect and I can't sing their praises enough. Thanks to everyone at Lago for a wonderful experience, we'll look forward to visiting again soon!
What a beautiful place! We had a fabulous time! Great food, great atmosphere, great service! They served fresh bread, olive and cheese while we were waiting for our order which was so good! My wife ordered Tuna Tartare (Ahi tuna, avocado mousse, chili oil, sesame-balsamic reduction, pasta crisps, and spicy aioli) It was delicious and great presentation! I ordered NY Strip which was perfectly cooked medium well! It was juicy and flavorful with pan jus sauce! Dessert; We ordered Ultimate Chocolate Cake (Three layers of chocolate decadence! Chocolate mousse, chocolate cake, and a rich chocolate ganache topping) It was absolutely decadent!! Overall great experience! Has lounge seating area, waterfront dining and patio for warm weather!
Very good! Drinks were excellent, the mussels were perfect! Tuna Tartar was sooo good, what a treat. Veal was just okay, a bit fatty, no need to bread this much, but all side dishes were fabulous. The service at the bar was top notch!
This place has improved since the last time we were here. >4 years ago. We will definitely be back. The food was very good. Chicken Parm and Chicken Marsala. Both were cooked to perfection.
Had our 25th wedding anniversary dinner at Lago, and it was perfect! Jackson was a wonderfully attentive waiter, and our food from start to finish was amazing. Started with bread, drinks and spring roll appetizer. Entrees were Bolognese and Seafood Risotto. Both were perfect!

I have been dying to come here and I was not disappointed in any way. The food is absolutely fantastic. The service is beyond any expectation I ever had. The Bar tenders are incredible ( shout out to Jocelyn!!)
This is an expierence of a lifetime and I will keep coming back over and over and over. Love love LOVE!! 10000/10 RECCOMEND.
I heard a lot about this place so we decided to try. We got there around 7 and I was packed but we got right in. The placed looked great and had a great vibe. The old new England look. The service here was a godsend. Our server Sally was over the top amazing and professional. She had a blast knowledge of the drink menu and dinner menu. The drinks were on Point. The bread that comes with it was perfect. The food was terrific. The only problem was a very limited menu. Definitely recommend coming here
Staff was fabulous and so was the food, everything was super flavorful and fresh. I was with one other person and we got the bruschetta & burrata as an appetizer and the Eggplant and Cioppino as entrees. I had the Eggplant and it was the best Eggplant dish I’ve had. The overall service was great. Can’t wait to come back with the rest of my family.
I've been to Lago several times over the last decade. In the beginning the food was amazing. A few years back they seemed to fall away from caring about the people, the atmosphere and the food had definitely suffered. I recently returned and it's back! The staff was awesome, the food was amazing in quality, taste and presentation. I can't wait to return to Lago for many more years to come, plus the view is perfect.
First time at this legendary restaurant and what a great experience. To start, I had an amazing view of lake Winnipesaukee and the general energy was incredibly relaxed. I had a seasonal autumn salad with seared scallops for dinner with the fried calamari as an appetizer and it was the perfect meal. I could only try three of the six specialty Old Fashioned cocktails but plan to go back to complete the list! The prices were extremely reasonable since you'd expect to pay more for the spectacular view. Really couldn't recommend this place enough.
Had a great meal here. Beautiful setting. Nice selection of wines. The restaurant was full when we arrived around 6:30pm, but mostly empty by the time we finished our meal.
Absolutely gorgeous view and atmosphere on Lake. All meals were wonderful.
If I could give this restaurant 10 stars then I would not hesitate to do it. Everything was absolutely exquisite: the view, the service, the food, the atmosphere, everything. We started our dinner with a basket of bread that was perhaps the best bread I have ever had; truly it was just beyond. The dinner portions were respectable and the bolognese was the best pasta I have ever tasted. Lago is everything you’d expect and more. I would definitely make the hour trip back just to eat at this restaurant again.
We made reservations for my mom’s 70th birthday weeks in advance. We were a party of 12 on a busy Friday night. We were seated right away. Justin was our server and he was attentive and awesome. The food was excellent and came out super quick - especially for a large party. Great experience!
Great restaurant with an excellent view of Lake Winnipesaukee! The food is generally excellent, though a few more less-eclectic items on the menu would satisfy more tastes. Our recent meal included the lasagna which is a new menu item and was excellent. Also, the chicken parmesan spring rolls are amazing and are a meal to themselves! The outdoor patio seating is a perfect place to spend an evening sipping espresso martinis, having a nice slow meal, and a wonderful dessert!
Can't speak to the food - my husband and I went hear to grab some cocktails with a view of the lake outside. The view from their outdoor area is lovely!
We tried a few different cocktails (all waiter recommended because we were a bit indecisive), and they were all great. My husband had a sidecar and I hard the martini siciliano and it was so nice to just be able to enjoy a drink outside. The people working were very friendly and clearly knew the regulars/locals. Made it feel like such a nice atmosphere!
Every dish ordered was spectacular and well worth the price. Highly recommend the mussels appetizer as they were delicious especially with the starter bread. Lovely rustic decor and amazing service. Highlight of my weekend getaway stay in Laconia.
Good flavors and a vibrant atmosphere with some great views of the lake. The food is tasty with some more rustic takes on Italian food and Mediterranean flavors. Service was friendly, fast and attentive and was happy to double check on ingredients in dishes or offer suggestions on the menu. With two other Common Man restaurants within walking distance, this does a good job being unique and offers a good option for a night out or with the family.
