El Zarape Mexican American

The parking here is very tight and a little difficult to navigate if it is a busy night. The handicap accessibility getting in the restaurant is not the easiest but once you are in it is very easy to get around. We have been here many times and for the most part enjoy it. Tonight the service was just ok. I am pretty sure they changed their salsa recipe as it was not as flavorful as it normally is., it tasted like and had the consistency of a can of diced tomatoes and onions. The other hot sauces they offered were very good though. The chips were all crushed and were not as fresh tasting as they normally are. The strawberry banana margaritas were very good and well balanced. 3 of us at the table ordered the steak chimichanga meal and they did not disappoint. They were crispy and well filled with steak and cheese, the sides were rice and a little fried corn taco shell holding the refried beans were very tasty. The chicken roll was pretty bland tasting but was filled with what the menu indicated. There is a sign on the door asking if you would please use cash to help them keep costs down which was fine with us.

As a relative newcomer to the town, this was our first time here. The food was wonderful with generous portions. We ordered a take out order ahead of time for my son's birthday party, and the order was hot, fresh, and exactly on time. The people at El Zarape did fantasticly! From taking the order and answering my questions ( minutes after opening) to the preparation and packaging of my order, they knocked it out of the park! Great job!!!

Love it. When I go to the farm I stop by here with the family. Really impressed with the food presentation here not even in Chicago... Love the way they come out on those hot rock like plates and the steak super rare with that butter. The owner is a jolly man and super attentive. Really a hidden gem.

Wanted to check out this restaurant, but the service was bad , asked for guacamole DIDNT RECD IT ! Asked for more flour tortillas DIDNT COME ASKED FOR EXTRA NAPKINS UNTIL I ASKED AGAIN DIDNT GET MORE BEER . She wasn’t around . I was disappointed , also the food wasn’t all that too simple no taste not even with the hot sauce they gave us . Will not come again . First and last time .
