I tried this restaurant because I stayed at the Stanford Inn hotel and I really enjoyed everything about it. First you need to understand that this is a fully plant-based restaurant and if you are looking for vegan processed food or food with a lot of fake flavors this won't be your place. However, if you are looking for healthy food, with good quality ingredients and you want to taste the original flavors with no additives of each dish then you are in the correct place! You must make reservations for breakfast and dinner (they are closed for lunch, however, they have a menu for a lunch to go) and I suggest that you make your reservations with a lot of advance because they don't take in a lot of customers at the same time and reading previous comments I can tell that for some people that is inconvenient, however, it makes a big difference on the experience because the server service is really good (you have the full attention of your server) and the food is freshly prepared by the time you order it. The restaurant has a beautiful interior and amazing views. The customer service is amazing. The staff were all attentive when it came to answering our questions and made really good suggestions. The menu has sections for larger dishes and smaller portions. For breakfast they have daily fresh juice, delicious coffee and teas and the menu has a lot of options to choose from. For dinner if you are a soup person I recommend that you always order a cup of soup, every day they have a different soup and the flavors are amazing. If you like desserts this is also a must, I loved all their desserts and my favorite one was the carrot cake, I like them because they were not too sweet and you can taste different combinations and flavors . They also have a happy hour. The bartender is really knowledgeable, she made recommendations to pair our food with wine and the combinations were tasteful, I didn't have the chance to taste their cocktails but they have a lot of variety . I love the fact that our dogs were welcome to the restaurant, they have a whole section for families with dogs and while we were there all dogs were calm and everybody was able to enjoy their meals in a great environment and the bartender and server were spoiling our dogs with delicious treats. I highly recommend this restaurant if you want to have a healthy, nice experience meal. And if you have dogs...this place is a must. I can't wait for us to come back again to The Ravens.
Ravens' restaurant is absolutely delicious and I highly recommend dining here- whether you are local or staying at the Stanford Inn. I stayed with my mom and we ate here every breakfast and dinner for our stay! From the gorgeous views, polite staff and delicious vegan cuisine- we had the best time! Breakfast and dinner were both special- check out my photos! It's very unique to find a restaurant that doesn't depend in mock meats, oil and over salted food- everything on the menu is fresh, creative, and allows the flavors for fresh herbs to come to life with local ingredients Thank you for adding to our stay the best food out there!
Amongst the heavy meat and seafood dishes void of vegetables this restaurant shines! It was so nice to get a nourishing meal after a day of hiking and sightseeing. The food is low in oil, mostly gluten free and vegan so expect healthy but really well done! It was a calm soothing restaurant as well.
I enjoyed every meal of our dinners at Ravens. The food is creative, delicious, and attractively presented. Most nights my daughter and I each got a small plate, followed by a large plate. One night we even indulged in dessert. The food is rich in vegetables and many other healthy ingredients, and is low oil and not fried.
Our favorite small plate was the kale stack, and favorite large plate was the sea palm. As we roamed nearby parks, we were quite attuned to all the sea palms growing on rocks near shore. Ravens sources their sea palm locally, so we might have been looking at someone's future dinner.
The portions are generous, and every night we took enough food back to our room for lunch the next day for both of us.
Wonderful vegan restaurant. Amazing breakfasts and dinners. Super fresh produce (a lot grown on-site). Desserts are amazing, especially the pecan tart. Stayed at the Stanford Inn for a few days, ate both meals there, and never had to eat anything twice. Highly recommend if you go to or thru Mendocino. Dog friendly as well!
This is a an extraordinary restaurant that should not be missed. The imagination and creativity of the menu is a rare opportunity. You’ll need a reservation, but if Mendo is closed for the night you can go early and hang out in the book store / fireplace lounge with a drink.
Spectacular food! We stayed at the hotel and had two breakfasts there as well as three dinners and one lunch. We tried the breakfast enchilada, the rancheros, the Ravens potatoes and the chilaquiles then for lunch the BBQ sandwich and the portobello sandwich for dinner we tried the ravioli the tacos, cesar salad and the kale salad.
The best for us were the Ravens potatoes, the portobello sandwich, the ravioli and the chilaquiles.
Good vegan, gluten free options. Ravioli had 4 on the plate that were good, but I could have ordered a salad also. The sauce was a bit bland for my taste, but I like spice. The lack of spice may be intentional.
I recently visited Ravens with my husband and was thoroughly impressed with the experience. Although my husband grew up nearby, we had never made the trip to dine here before. However, we finally decided to stop by with a reservation and were immediately captivated by the warm and inviting atmosphere.
We started off by ordering the black bean dip as an appetizer, and it was absolutely delicious. The flavor was spot on and the texture was perfect - it had a good mouthfeel. For our main course, we ordered the flatbread grilled portobello sandwich and the red thai curry with coconut rice. Both dishes were absolutely fantastic - they were perfectly filling and packed with flavor. The portobello was grilled to perfection and the curry was absolutely delicious.
We had a great time at this restaurant and can't wait to come back. The atmosphere was great, the service was friendly and attentive, and the food was delicious. I would highly recommend this place to anyone looking for a vegan option - local or not!
To be fair, it’s been a couple years since I’ve eaten here since we live a couple hours away. But, I had to write because the reviews here are hilarious! “Too many dishes come with chips”, “I had to ask for special water”, etc. I’m not really sure what people who are leaving these reviews expect from restaurants. Read reviews on other sites for true feedback. I’ve been very happy with every meal here. Nice healthy vegetarian dining that even a meat eater can appreciate (not a fake meat kind of place). A casual lodge-feeling space with a fine-dining feel. Fair prices for farm-fresh food in a far-from metropolis region.
