Great evening, very good staff, from the moment we walked in until we left we were made to feel very welcome. The menu was very good, good options and tastes offered and plating was nicely done. The important part was the food, not overdone, no chef ego, just very good food and on our list for a return. Fair pricing and a very good wine selection.
Cafe Beaujolais is the best restaurant in Mendocino. Consistent, great service and you can even get it to go! Also, the best burger in town (only at lunch).
In Mendocino, you can go anywhere in jeans, even a gourmet French restaurant!
Reservations suggested. Ask to be seated in the garden room if it is open.
Ate there with 2 friends, and we were a lot of trouble! But they handled everything beautifully. They served rye bread, and none of us like rye bread, so we asked if they had anything else and they brought us sour dough. On the entrees, both my friends asked to have their main dish changed because they liked the side dishes on another meal better. So instead of a lentil cake they gave a crab cake, and instead of roast chicken, they gave a filet. Service was excellent, food was great, and pacing was perfect.
We celebrated our anniversary this weekend in Mendocino and were lucky enough to find this amazing restaurant. The staff had rose petals on our table after my husband let them know it was our anniversary. Food was fresh, and so delicious, the staff was great.
I had the halibut and it was delicious. The sweet pea purée and pesto was amazing, and the fish was cooked perfectly.
Make sure you get the coconut cream pie for dessert!
My wife insists that this place ruined salmon for her forever. She has always loved salmon, and upon trying it here asked me whether this is what salmon is supposed to taste like. Since then, no other salmon has compared.
I was myself impressed with the food. Not only was the food tasty but the textures were amazing. There was attention paid to my kids, and something was whipped up for them to also enjoy.
After one trip it makes my top 5 restaurants I've had for the food and ambience. A real gem that we visited just on a whim.
Beautiful setting, amazing food and attentive, friendly staff. Perfect evening

The best kale salad I ever had! Breakfast, lunch or/and dinner.
We went to dinner years four years ago for our honeymoon… Easy to make reservations and returns there on our vacation. Great food… Great service… Had rose petals on our table to commemorate an anniversary! Beautiful evening…
I make it point to eat at Cafe Beaujolais everytime I visit Mendocino. I've not been disappointed yet. I love the food & breads <3
Excellent food, service, local wines. The duck 2 ways was as good as all the prior reviews. The special filet with truffle was delicious. Tuna tartare and kale salad appetizers were lovely. Desserts lovely.
A glorious reunion - prolly 25 years since my last visit! A great waiter, a great curry soup, a phenomenal duck pasta, a sterling cocktail - what could compete with this? Even the coast views had to take a backseat....

Charming intimately elegant seating, scrumptious cuisine, delightful friendly and enthusiastic waitstaff, all contributed to a most excellent dining experience. Chef Julian prepared my lamb and my companions pork loin to perfection and he selected fabulous wine pairings for us as well. Look forward to exploring more of these organic sustainable farmed creations!
Great place. Very intimate with excellent food and service. Try the blackberry cobbler!!!

Still fabulous. Incredible bread. The duck confit salad was exquisite.
Best pulled pork sandwich I've had! The side salad and fries were delicious also. Love style and decor.
Truly fabulous. Have had dinner here twice so far in the last two months and will definitely go back. The atmosphere is elegant, the service is courteous, and the food is truly delicious, of good quality, and well prepared. 'Tis a pleasure to experience this Mendocino gem.
Wow!!! Outstanding
We just left the restaurant and I don't normally write a review the same night but this place deserves it.
Wine List- very nice extensive selection to satisfy any palette, I ordered a bottle(375ml) of 2009 Swanson Merlot, one of my favs. The other option for a half bottle merlot was Duckhorn, which is also very good but it's way more common than the Swanson, and I normally would have ordered it but Swanson suits my palette better. It complimented the food very nicely....
Food- we started with one of their specials "Filet Mignon Tartar and crostini" it was delicious, the Tartar was so fresh and flavorful that you almost wanted to skip the crostini and use a spoon. For our next course I order the seared Foie Gras, which was outstanding- it was seared just right, leaving the center perfectly creamy. It just melts in your mouth with every bite. We also shared the Duck entree, which was prepared two way- seared skin on breast and leg confit with crispy skin (omg); the sautéed greens and herbed spätzle was the perfect compliment for this dish. Unfortunately we were too full for dessert, but the selection was awesome.
Service-our waitress was a sweet heart. But all experienced diners know that being nice isn't enough, one must have skills: wine knowledge and proper service (she passed), must know the menu and ingredients (she passed) and follow up service (on point).
Overall- cute small restaurant in Mendicino, just a block east of the city's cluster of businesses. Chef deserves acknowledgement on the menu, our food was outstanding. When we arrived the restaurant was semi full, more than half of the dozen plus white table cloth tables were occupied at about 8:30pm. We were greeted by a friendly smile and seated promptly. Even though we did not have reservations and the kitchen was clothing in 20 min, we were not notified once of the time nor rushed. However, we were aware how late it was and didn't take our time ordering, yet our food was perfectly spaced out to allow us to truly enjoy ourselves.
Highly recommend this place!!!
Terrific food, atmosphere & service. Will go again when in the area.
The Perfect Lunch. I recently just came back from mendicino with my boyfriend and we were directed to this resturant from a lady at the local jewerly store...and am I glad she recommended us! The food was fantastic and filling I had to Short Rib Sandwhich w/Creme Fraiche, fresh fruit, and Fries. My Boyfriend had their Angus Beef Buger that also looked fantastic. It was so delicious and filling I cannot wait to go back for Lunch next time I am in the area! Plus the atmosphere is one of a kind with its small dining area it gives off a french cafe feel which was very pleasant.
Cafe Beaujolais symbolizes the Mendocino Coast in more ways than I can count.
My partner and I liked this place so much we went there twice for lunch on a recent weekend trip.
The pizza is absolutely delicious! They even had one vegan pizza option which was good! I also tried one of their seasonal fig and goat cheese pizzas.
It's the perfect place to sit outside on a rare sunny day. Dog friendly also!
Simply AMAZING food experience! If I can give 6 stars, I would. The quality of food rivals one of my favorite top restaurant in Las Vegas! What a gem in Mendocino. Julian (Executive Chef) is probably one of the youngest and most talented chef of our times. Shout out to Rebecca for excellent service! Will definitely be back- Cafe Beaujolais!
We sat in “the waiting room” which was a more casual part of the restaurant since we came with our little dog. We were still able to order food from the Cafe Beaujolais menu. The bar also has its own snacks menu. My husband and I shared the heirloom tomato and burrata salad and the Vietnamese prawn and papaya salad for starter. I had duck breast for main (medium) and my husband had fillet mignon (medium). Everything was delicious. The duck breast was crispy on the outside and tender on the inside. Parts of the fillet mignon were well-done instead of medium but my husband didn’t mind. The bar tender/server was cheerful and the service was great.
Our favorite meal!
The service was great, the little dining area at the back of the main building was nice and cozy. We loved the food, especially the foie gras and black cod.
Make sure you make a reservation in advance!
A group of 5 of us spent an evening at the cafe and loved it. The staff are friendly and the atmosphere is very cozy. I ordered the halibut which was super buttery and flavorful. Definitely recommend if you're looking to treat yourself!

A very very good meal. On par with some of the 1 Michellin star restaurants we’ve been to in San Francisco. The duck and foie gras are a must!
A mainstay in the town of Mendocino that I have visited and dined at many times in the past 20 years. I had a pastry and coffee from the Brickery in their garden. Awesome setting on a mellow afternoon.
If you're looking for an unforgettable dining experience in Mendocino, look no further than Cafe Beaujolais. This charming restaurant offers a menu full of innovative and delicious dishes, as well as exceptional service that makes you feel right at home.
One of the standout dishes at Cafe Beaujolais is the dry aged duck breast, which is seasoned with Chinese five spice and served with a delightful array of accompaniments including Potato Pave, Braising Greens, Kumquat Marmalade, and a flavorful sauce. The duck is incredibly tender and flavorful, with just the right amount of richness to satisfy your taste buds.
Another must-try dish is the bone marrow ricotta ravioli with a rich bone marrow sauce. The ravioli is stuffed with a flavorful blend of ricotta and bone marrow, and the sauce adds a velvety richness that perfectly complements the dish. It's a unique and delicious dish that's not to be missed.
And let's not forget about dessert! The dark chocolate lava cake is an absolute showstopper, with a warm, gooey center and a decadent chocolate flavor that's perfectly balanced by the homemade vanilla bean ice cream. It's the perfect way to end a meal at Cafe Beaujolais.
But what really sets this restaurant apart is the exceptional service. The staff is incredibly friendly and knowledgeable, and they go out of their way to ensure that every guest has a memorable experience. From the warm greeting at the door to the attentive service throughout the meal, everything about Cafe Beaujolais exudes warmth and hospitality.
Overall, Cafe Beaujolais is a fantastic restaurant that's not to be missed if you're in Mendocino. With its innovative and delicious menu, warm and welcoming atmosphere, and exceptional service, it's sure to be a dining experience you won't soon forget.
Lovely bistro with excellent wine selection. The morel and white truffle risotto was excellent.
