my husband and I went there last weekend and we loved it, he asked for the hawaiian burrito and I asked for the chimichanga carne asada, everyting was very good in taste the only bad thing is that the meats were a little rubbery, not entirely but some chunks were chewy and fatty. they have excellent chips very fresh and the salsa was really good. We had the Agua de tamarindo to drink, it was like a mix of real tamarindo with powder mix but it wasn't band, it would have been nicer if they had real tamarindo though.
they give big portions so is worth paying for a meal there.
we want to go back for the pollo asado next time!!!

I was really impressed by this little place. It's a dive but I don't care. I like dives. It's the food that counts and they really delivered on taste and freshness.Fresh chips were served right away with three sauces. All of which were very good. We ordered way too much food but being our first visit we got carried away. Guacamole, I loved it, dining companion liked it. She is not a fan of cilantro but said it wasn't overpowering.  Avocado, sour cream (?) and cilantro. So fresh, creamy and delicious. Queso  fundido con rajas ( melted cheese with jalapeno.) Companion liked it, me , not so much. For entrees I had Pirrillada. A mixed grill of steak, pork, pulled chicken, chorizo and onion served on a sizzling skillet. This dish blew any fajitas platter I've ever been served out of the water. Plenty enough for two. Companion had a torta asada. This sandwich could easily feed two. It was huge and she reported it to be delicious and it looked so good. Prices are very reasonable.Yes, we'll be back but wise enough to share next time.Update: A return visit and just as satisfied as our first.  Tip, the above menu posted on Zomato is outdated. You can't go by it. Many items are no longer available.

Los Picosos. Stopped by for lunch a few times. I've always been happy with the food but one time I ordered the chorizo burrito as it was closer to brunch time, and it may be one of the best things I've ever had. Sometimes I dream about it.

If your feeling brave and you want an authentic Mexican experience then try Los Picosos on Summer Ave. When you drive up you'll see a lot of smoke coming from the back, you'll wonder what they are cooking. It took me a while to figure it out. They are grilling up some delicious chicken, but only on the weekends.  Now they marinade the chicken, chop it into large pieces and serve it with rice, beans, salad, and tortillas. This chicken looks like it just got off the expressway from Flavorville. It is not too expensive and is a major treat. I love the smokey taste and the tender juicy meat. It is  a must try. They give you chips and 3 flavors of salsa. It can be tons of fun to mix them and great a unique blend.  The other menu item we enjoy is the Chori Queso- a hot plate of melted cheese with chorizo mixed in. They line the skillet with tortillas so the cheese does not burn and it is a really big dish. I know it is probably a heart attack on a plate but it is well worth the risk. I have

Pictured here is just half of the burrito I got at Los Picosos. My friend got barbacoa and a total. They cook the meat outside, and the whole parking lot smells delicious. I can't say much about the inside, since I ordered carryout. But the food was fabulous! $40 for three people (that included a whole pound of barbacoa)

This is one of the best authentic Mexican restaurants in Memphis. The portions are quite large and more than I can eat. If you leave there hungry, it’s your own fault. I highly recommend trying this place if you are looking for somewhere new to try.

Super delicious and very nice employees working there! My husband and I got a chicken torta and three tacos de lengua (beef tongue tacos) and they were absolutely authentic and so good. I’d love to come here again if I ever visit TN in the future.

Food is great. This place really tries to provide an authentic Mexican feeling. Taste in the different dishes I've tried has always been great. Salsa seems to be made in house and not the generic super mild type you get at the grocery store. Service depends on the waiter, but it has always been at least decent to super good when waited by an older lady.

I was headed to Bryant's for breakfast but then saw the sign for Mexican breakfasts. I love a good Mexican breakfast and Los Picosos did not disappoint. The huevos rancheros were excellent, the rice was good, the beans tasted homemade. The corn tortillas were fresh and nicely warmed, eggs cooked just the way I asked. There was a selection of three salsas that tasted homemade and they were all very good. The tortilla chips were crisp, fresh tasting, just the right amount of salt. Even the coffee was excellent. I can hardly wait to go back and try them for lunch or dinner.
