Review Dwj Eastern Grill & Sushi Bar - Memphis

I went and had Korean BBQ for the first time. I was kind of hesitant to try it. It was definitely difficult looking at the menu since it was in Korean. But my server (I believe her name was Kimberly) was the absolute best server you could ask for, and helped me know what everything was. It’s different from American bbq. Not in a bad way. Just different. Really terrific meat and rice

My family and I ordered Japchae, Dolsot Bibimbap, and Bulgogi. The Bulgogi was far more flavorful than the previous Korean restaurant I’ve gone too. The Japchae was a delight, and the Bibimbap was the perfect choice for my gluten free family member. The food was delicious. I will say: For the 4 of us, only 4 side dishes were given. Less than what I’m used to at Korean Restaurants. However, it worked out because my family is still shy with Korean flavors/foods. There were many food options and the service was fast and polite; the bathroom was clean and smelt very nice. The whole restaurant had a pleasant ambience and was clean. The owner was extremely kind! As a student learning Korean, I approached them with my timid Korean and they were extremely sweet and accommodating :)) A very good time all around. 고맙습니다!

My son and I tried Korean Bbq as a nice change of pace. We had never had it before. The food and the entire experience was magnificent. Enjoyed roasting our own food and the server (Lauren) was attentive and super helpful. A little pricier than other place but well worth it to me. Looking forward to going back.

DWJ is our go-to for Korean barbecue in the Memphis area. They only have the one server and she does a great job! Keep in mind, they have signage that indicates they automatically charge gratuity on all orders (dine in and carry out). We love the bulgogi and ribs. Tonight we tried the kimbop appetizer (looks like a sushi roll made with kimchi).

I'm pretty sure they used to give you seven little dishes with the purchase of an entree, but now they give you four and you have to share them with the person across from you. I'm pretty sure they used to give me fish cake, and kimchi and some sort of cucumber or zucchini dish and potato salad. But I definitely didn't get the fish cake this time, which kind of made me sad. If you're going to spend almost $20 on Asian food before tip or text, there's a lot of places where you could do it and get fuller. I'm giving it four stars but I probably would have given it five if it was a slightly better value.

This place is delicious. I enjoyed every bite. Very authentic. I will go again and bring my family back. I had a hot pot. There are a lot of options. Clean and friendly environment.

The food is really delicious! The ambiance was perfect. They played songs from BTS to EXO to Everglow and ATEEZ. I enjoyed it very much. The food takes from 20-30 minutes and we were greeted and served well.

This place is okay for lunch, but do not take my word for it. I had the yukaejjang and it was ok. Not extremely rich, a lot of onions for broth and the rest of the ingredients. Ratio was kind of off. The ban chan plate was "meh". The zucchini dish tasted a little off, did not eat the salad (I'm at a korean restaurant, I do not want iceberg and ranch salad). All in all, for lunch, it was ok I am sure that dinner is much better.

I discovered Korean food from seeing mukbang on YouTube. The food looked delicious and I had to try. DWJ on Hackscross is not far from me and I'm so glad. The food is different and delicious. It's not the same old thing we're always eating. I've triedseveral items from their menu and truly enjoyed each one. There is a stew with cod roe in it. I love it! It has a wonderful savory taste and they always cook the vegetables perfectly. I ask for it to be on the mild side. Koreans can eat very spicy foods. Even if it's spicier than I prefer it's still delicious. I like to eat about 3/4 of it which I split into two meals and I put white rice in what is left and finish off all the goodness. I highly recommend DWJ, give it a try, you won't be disappointed.

The portion sizes are a bit small, but the food tastes pretty good. I wish the side dishes were bigger since they are shared at the table. The prices are decent and the service is good overall, so thumbs up from me!

The food was amazing, fresh, and cooked perfectly. The service isn’t bad, they just have one server. You must be patient if you want to eat here. The server stayed friendly and professional even though she had several tables. We gave her a little extra on her tip. I’ll be back!!

Korean BBQ. Good service and selection, but a little pricey and the side dishes aren't very good. I'm just happy to have korean BBQ in Memphis so I can't complain.

No more sushi. That's the only reason I went there. Oh well

No sushi available is very frustrating when three name sushi bar is on the title and sign. Apparently there is only one guy that can do sushi and he is gone until Saturday??? Very few low carb offerings. Not happy.

It's the best Korean restaurant around but not one of the better one's I had. If you’re itching for Korean cuisine, DWJ is the one to go to, out of the only two Korean restaurants close to the Memphis area. The food is not bad but not that great either. The flavor is there but nothing special. I like DWJ and I think you will too. Until another Korean restaurant decides to open up with quality Korean food, DWJ will be the best in the surrounding Memphis area.
