Review Mulan Asian Bistro 2149 - Memphis

I went to Mulan's last evening to check out their menu. For Friday evening, it was not particularly crowded. That's not a bad thing. The menu was pretty extensive. So I stayed close to base with the shrimp basics. The food arrived super quick hot, and delicious.

Excellent food, service and atmosphere! Would recommend this Cooper-Young restaurant as one of the finest places to get Asian fare in the city.

We love Mulan! I got the orange shrimp with tofu added and dream about it all the time. Big pieces of shrimp! The portion was enough for a large dinner and a large lunch the next day. Honestly could have gotten 3 meals out of it but I ate until it hurt because it was so good. 🤭 We always get great service and the restaurant is impeccably clean. The patio out front makes for a date night in the summer. And there are plenty of 4-top booths and larger tables for family gatherings too. I called them and placed my order for dinner and then picked up. The place looks a bit shiny, upscale, and hip. I’m sure dine in experience would have been much better. The food was a bit expensive in comparison to other Chinese restaurants, however, the food is really good. Be it the quality, freshness, good ingredients, preparation, portion size everything is top. We ordered house special chowmein and a spicy fried chicken. Both the dishes were terrific. I would highly recommend the place and I myself will definitely go back. Update: I ordered again, and this time also the food was great. Major update: after ordering food from this place quite a few times through Uber eats, this time I went on-site in the restaurant for dine in experience. The food was food, so the ambience. Quantity wise, it’s humongous, more than you would get if the food is getting delivered.

We have been to the restaurants all around Mulan, but had never been there. They have a BOOMING take out business. We were able to dine inside, with appropriate COVID measures. The food was, in a word, WOW!!!! Our waiter, Mark, was very well versed on the menu and extremely nice. The service was impeccable. When your Asian meal is cooked by Mr. Song you just know it’s gonna be good. His understanding of ingredients and how to layer them resulted in perfectly cooked shrimp and depth of flavors that reaching the sublime. Owner Matt Kan and GM Monica Patrick have developed a great atmosphere right at home in the bohemian Cooper-Young neighborhood of Memphis. Well worth a visit!!

Let me just start out by saying me and my fiancé visited here 9/25 We both loved the atmosphere the food everything was great with the exception of our greeter who seated us and who also was our waiter. As a Chef who has been in the restauranteur business for over 15 years I love going out any time I can with my family me and my fiancé love trying new restaurants. The waiter seemed to be really on the edge from the beginning of our visit. Firstly he sat us somewhere he never should have simply based on the obvious. I’m a great judge of character I could tell our waiter was feeling a way when I asked to move to another table but he kept face but I could tell he was trying to keep his composure but I could tell something wasn’t right with him he seemed to get irritated when we asked for something that we needed for instance we ordered soup for 2 that had udon noodles but only received one spoon and no chopsticks to grab the noodles I asked for another spoon he got nice nasty with me when asking for another he not only brought me another he also gave a creepy smile as he slowly stuck in the soup bowl I’m looking at the spoon and it had a crumbs on it like he did something to it before he brought it out: I’m praying he didn’t but that moment really made me a type of way but instead I just prayed over my meal and wiped the spoon off he made me uncomfortable with asking for anything so we just decided we would take our soup home and eat it later. So then the food comes out and everything looks delicious and tastes as good as it looks so the rest of the night was beautiful we sat at a table seated that could see every angle of the street. Now it’s time to go so we ask for Togo containers he brought out what we needed so that was great my fiancé asked for 3 sauces Togo because she said they were really good he mumbled okay and as he walked off I was still looking at him and he bawled his fist up and mumbled something as he walked off. Long story short for an automatic 20% gratuity on a over $120 bill he didn’t seem to happy as if he just wanted to do his job and nothing extra I guess not truly knowing his role as a server. nor knowing who he was serving.

It was nice little family set up. They should have security though because some unruly guy came in extremely rude as hell. The food was pretty good I did not like their sushi. It tasted old and made yesterday instead of today. I would give them a try if you have never had them.

Great asian spot. Ambience is good. Foods are tasty.steamed dumplings and penang curry are my favorites.

Amazing place with diverse items on the menu. I have been here quite a number of times, one of our favorite dinner places in Midtown, Memphis. We start with dynamite shrimp and egg drop soup which are very delicious. Jalapeño fried rice, Singapore sizzling chicken and hot pot fish are totally delectable. Sizzling chicken comes as a sizzler, whereas hot pot fish comes in a mini skillet on a hot stove. If you like sea food, don’t miss the hot pot fish fillet. There are various options for vegetarians and vegans too. Garlic eggplant and general tso’s tofu are my favorites. The restaurant also provides complimentary wanton crisps with duck sauce, sometimes we go there only for these :D. Few waiters are not courteous, that’s why I haven’t given 5stars. This place deserves a high rating for food though!!

We have not been to the midtown Mulan for a while, but frequently to the new one near Target. I wanted to give a quick review on the high quality and excellent taste of the entrees which somehow exceed that in the new location. Keep up the good work!

Food so fire 🔥 so fresh and so much variety! Every single time I order something from here, I always have to stop and almost pick my mouth up off the floor! This is My face…. “😮” every single time ⭐️ 🤩 I’m not kidding, my mouth literally drops because of the flavors, the freshness, etc! Omg! 😩 that spicy basil 🌿 oh my goodness! 🥹🔥🔥 that garlic eggplant 😭😭😭💯💯💯 and even the general Tso with rice, fresh and sooo good! Y’all are like 👍🏼 💯💯 y’all are different and I appreciate the consistency, excellence and even presentation every single time! It’s quite an experience 🥲 yummy! 💯🙌🏼
