I searched "food near me" and Miss Polly's was near the top of the list. It was also highly rated, which piqued my interest.
I walked 5 minutes (or less) from the Peabody Hotel and walked in. I was greeted with a smile from the server and told I can sit wherever. I sat and began looking at the menu. I was interested in chicken and waffles, never had them previously. I ordered "the Willie". Two pieces of chicken, a side, and a waffle.
I also ordered a Ghost River Gold from a local brewery. It was good.
The food came out and at first I wasn't impressed.
The pieces of chicken seemed undersized and the waffle seemed a little crispy. I spread the butter on the waffle and put on the syrup.
My first bite of the chicken was very hot! What was I expecting? I started eating the waffle while the chicken cooled and was pleasantly surprised! It had enough integrity to hold the butter and the syrup while providing a tasty crunch and still being chewable. I enjoyed the taste.
The primo part of the meal was the fried chicken. It was spectacular! I wish I had ordered the 16 pieces. I would have eaten most of them. The batter around the chicken was crisp and tasty. The meat under the batter was tender and delicious. I think this may have been the best friend chicken I've tasted!
Friendly folks, good service, and delicious food all add up to 5 stars for me. Highly recommended!

Good Golly Miss Polly
I came in thinking a different menu that offered steak and eggs was live. They told I couldn’t have either of my favorite things. I settled on the Meatloaf, Sweet Potatoes, and Turnip Greens for $11.
They overkilled it with ketchup but once I undrowned it, the flavor and choice were favorable.
I doubled down on another heaping side of sweet potato fries for $3. And they even let me take a coffee to go.
All in all, if you know what kind of comfort dive you’re walking into, this is favorable AF.

Omg I can't even begin to tell you how good my veggie plate was! Every bite of the food was Good! The service from our waiter was great! I'm not sure how that corn bread muffin tasted because I didn't eat it (no bread only veggie fast) but it had to be good because my best friend who can throw down in the kitchen tore it up! Omg I can't wait to go back and try some other menu items. This was a GNO event and all of my friends food looked good! Good golly Miss Polly lol

First visit.. It's nothing fancy but a nice small old local Beale Street place! My main purpose was to try the fried apple pie ala mode! It didn't disappoint, I will be back 😋

Tasty! Breakfast, lunch or dinner, you can't go wrong eating at Miss Polly's. First, this is best fried chicken anywhere. My kids agree. I believe this was the first place they ever had chicken and waffles. Frankly, the chicken here is much better than at Hattie B's.
But that's not all! You want a great omelette for breakfast? Try the barbecue omelette. (See pic) I had one 8 or 10 years ago, and had another for breakfast on Sunday; they are still just as great. This trip was adults only, and Miss Polly's has a shorter wait time than several much inferior restaurants on Beale.
The wait staff is friendly and helpful. If I were being super-picky, I suppose they could be faster, but really, it's Beale Street. If you're trying to wolf down your food to get to Graceland, you don't have the right attitude for Memphis.

This restaurant is Cash Only, which caused patrons to walk by. Other than that, the Chicken was hot and crispy; the Jalapeno cornbread had just the right amount of spice; Mac and cheese is creamy; the catfish was fried to golden perfection. Our server, Amy Jo, was friendly and helpful.

I’m never going to say anything bad about Miss Polly’s. NEVER! It’s always consistent! Always GOOD! Always giving what needs to be gave! This is one of the few places I will wait for on Beale Street. If you’re visiting Memphis come get some food southern comfort cooking here. If you’re a Memphian, enjoy! Even the sweet tea is amazing. My goodness this place is GOOD. Ask about payment options!

DELICIOUS! My husband ordered fried chicken for breakfast. It was perfect. I had eggs and polish sausage. The sausage was fantastic. The servers are very sweet and keep your coffee cup filled. 10/10 would definitely recommend. Great stop for a Sunday morning

I was visiting Memphis from out of state and Pollys fulfilled my hopes for good southern breakfast. The biscuits were amazing, and the gravy had just enough zing combined with cranny deliciousness. More importantly, I felt like part of the family by the time I left.

The helpings were nothing short of huge. I ordered the bbq spaghetti which comes come with two sides and jalapeno cornbread. The spaghetti had bbq rib tips in it with a sweet and tangy bbq sauce. It was pretty good. Mac and cheese and fries were decent but the cornbread stole the show.

Had one night in Memphis on a road trip. The only place I wanted to have dinner was at Miss Polly's. My wife's birthday and I made her have chicken and waffles for the very first time (Canadian, eh). She thought I was nuts. First time for turnip greens also. Top that off with beans and a good local brew I knew I had made the right choice. And Sue liked it too! Best meal on Beale.

Great comfort food. Loved the catfish, massages potatoes and coleslaw. Friendly server and nice vibe.

We loved the BBQ omelets! This is a great spot with a fun ambience and an awesome staff that attended to us very well.

Great food ,friendly service, and The best Fried Green Tomato BLT you will ever sink your teeth into.

Good food... Chicken waffles or catfish, and other favorites. Nice and caring service. Fun nostalgia on the tables and walls. Table artwork was hand painted includes significant, historical people of Memphis.

Great Service and Great Breakfast and one Cool Funky Setting 🤗 Don't be surprised your walking into a bar for a Good Breakfast!
Had to have the Country Fried Chicken- Yummy😀
Gotta Love the tables🎉🌞

Chicken Fried Steak, real mashed potatoes & gravy and fried okra! This place is worth a second visit! Our server was attentive and we'll be back.

Came here for lunch and got the chicken and waffles with a side of Mac. The chicken and waffles were solid but the Mac was subpar. I asked to sub with eggs and was told they don't give eggs as a side. Overall average experience

Love Miss Pollys!! We eat breakfast here almost every morning that we're in Memphis!!! Best breakfast in town! And the skillet fried pies with ice cream are hard to beat!

My niece said that this place had a rating of 4.0 on something she looked on, not sure what that was!! When I got there I was told there would be a 45 minute wait, so I'm thinking this place must be really good!! NOT!!! I should have left when I was on my way to the bathroom and looking in the kitchen and saw how greasy and filthy it looked. I looked away and went into the bathroom, that made me cringe, sign number 2!! I shared an appetizer of fried green tomatoes and ordered the fried chicken tenders, green beans, Mac and cheese with a jalapeño cornbread muffin. Let's start with the fried green tomatoes, five greasy sliced tomatoes with a dusting of flour, they were spicy, hard and not worth $7.99. The fried chicken tenders had a little kick to them, fried a little too hard and bland, the only seasoning being that spicy kick. The Mac and cheese out of a box and not even being Kraft Mac and cheese , after the waitress saying this was their best seller.... hmmm surely she was joking!! The green beans was the best thing I had on my plate, they were seasoned just right, the muffin was actually not bad because I ate around the jalapeñoes. I'm thinking that 4.0 rating my niece read had to be from the people that party so hard on Beale street that surely had to be intoxicated to give this place such a high rating!! First and last time visiting!! Btw don't let the pictures fool you, it's not as good as it looks!'
PRINCESSME
Miss NY. Great chicken & greens! Very nice man who sits outside & talks to you!
Jordan Mclelland
AMAZING. Service was great, Had the Chicken and Waffles with Mashed Potatoes and White Gravy, The Chicken is the best in Memphis the waffle was really fluffy. Highly recommended
Mary
It just didn't live up to the hype for me. A local had raved about the huge biscuits. They were NOT huge. They were normal sized, rather flat and strangely sweet. I'm an old southerner. My biscuits and cornbread DO NOT include sugar!
Omelette full of meat, lacked cheese. If you like meat, you'll love it. If you want a lot, go elsewhere.

I travel through Memphis regularly and have eaten at Miss Polly's several times. I will say I have only eaten breakfast here and it is usually a good experience. I am a fan of chicken and waffles and Miss Polly's fits the bill. Their freshly fried chicken and thick golden waffles are a real treat. I do feel the need to mention on my latest visit that our server was rude and not all menu items were available because they had not yet thawed out and were completely frozen. I hope this was a one time fluke.
Amy
Yum!. Great fried chicken and waffle. Loved it. Clean and good service. Glad we stopped in.

Excellent!!!!!. The food was excellent as was the service. The mash potatoes and gravy and Mac and cheese was great creamy and had wonderful flavor. The chicken was crunchy yet juicy and with the right amount of seasoning.. If ever in the Memphis area this is the first restaurant you should stop at.
Rob Armstrong
Wonderful service! Their food was GREAT but our server, Preslie, was even better. EVERY time we come to memphis we will visit this young lady. My wife and I had a wonderful time and were treated like family.

Had the chicken and waffles and a side of fried pickles. Very yummy, I normally don't do grease, but hey it's Memphis!
Mr_j_p_w
Most definitely food for the soul!. Polite staff, great music on the stereo, great feel to the place, cool t-shirts AND MOST OF ALL..... the chicken and waffles, fried pickles and fried green tomatoes were great! - my only issue was there wasn't enough chicken! - next time, i'll order extra!

this place is what Memphis is all about!
Top Chef Wannabe
How does this dump have 90%. Another review said "not very good." That man is a saint. The sides come out of a can, and a pretty crappy can at that. This place relies on Beale Street foot traffic. The fried chicken is a greasy tasteless joke. If you want diarrhea, then knock yourself out. The lone savior of this place is the apple pie dessert they have. And can someone please tell the waitstaff that black sneakers, white socks and jorts were never a good look? Seriously. Never.
Fr. Paul Watkins OP
Not very good..... If you feel like canned green beans, canned turnip greens, frozen fries, and slow service, eat here. Chicken fried steak was generous, but bland.
Ginia
Waitress very rude. Menu does not depict what u really get. Everything had spice & heat to it. But what me mad the most was u get a 12 oz can of soda for $2.25 with NO refills, ridiculous. Will definitely NOT be back.
D Andrew Porter
This hole in the wall was a great treat. The fried green tomatoes were good, but I would have loved more than 5 for the table. Overall good food.
AP_Henley
Cheap and delicious! Be prepared for a Carb overload!
Falece
The food is great! Especially the chicken and turnip greens. Just wish that it was a bigger space and more booster seats for the little ones.
Smith
Went here one night and had the chicken and waffles with a side of macaroni. first off I could have eaten a couple servings of just the macaroni and been satisfied because it was that good! the chicken was crispy on the outside and moist on the inside and the waffle was really really good. you wouldn't think all of this is a good combo but it was fabulous!
W
Had a great breakfast - waffles were great, and so was the chicken (has some spice to it). Great service by Casey! First time in Memphis, but if we ever make it back, we'll be sure to visit Miss Polly's again!
Steve West
Excellent fried chicken liver &fried chicken! Fried pickles are good, almost too many to eat.
Ginny
Love breakfast here!. This is the best place for breakfast on Beale St. We always come here for early basketball game days. The staff even remembers us every time we come in. It always gets crowded so it is best to get there early. You get a big breakfast that won't break the bank. Trust me, it is worth waiting outside to get in and eat!
Brad Burns
Stopped for lunch and was blown away by the chicken and waffles. Amazing flavor in the chicken with just enough heat.
Jess
Fried tomatoes are GREAT!! Didn't like the MacNcheese But looovvveed the greens.
Fried pickles were a bit spicy

Southern Hospitality and Good food!. We went here for a Sunday lunch. I brought in my own coke and instead of giving me a dirty look, I was offered a cup of ice to freshen it up. The menu was great, really something for everyone. It was foods you know, but they were all prepared in a little different way than expected - peppery slaw, spicy steak fries, etc. I ate every last bit of my lunch and loved our casual, welcoming waitress. I asked for more ketchup, I got 3 bottles of ketchup :) She was fun and accommodating. Great place, will definitely return. Good food and warm service can really 'make' a trip for you, and this place was a prime example.
Melanie Markus
The food was definitely nothing to scream about. I was looking forward to some classic chicken and waffles. My sides came out cold and the chicken was overcooked. Don't even get me started on the service. The only person that truly greeted us was the guy on Beale street handing out menus. Our server was so apathetic he couldn't even muster up a smile. Definitely would not recommend and would never go back!

3.7 stars. Food: 4
Ambiance; 3
Service: 3.5

No Breakfast. Went in the other day and asked the lady if they did breakfast, and she said only steak and eggs, we left and went to Cock-A-Doos. Would not go back

One of the better deals on Beale Street. Miss Polly's is one of the better deals on Beale Street. We had lunch with an attentive server. The Pulled Pork BBQ Sandwich was quite good and the Hen's House, a waffle, macaroni and cheese with a piece of fried chicken was also good. A slice of excellent red velvet cake was a nice addition at the end.
Amanda W.
The waffles taste like heaven! I had to stop myself from ordering another. The chicken was delicious and perfectly seasoned. It was a fun place to eat. Prices are really reasonably. Check it out.

Great little hole in the wall. Miss Polly's gets overshadowed by her neighbors but this place is a gem. The food is wonderful and fast. The staff have always been courteous and helpful. My kids love the grill cheese sandwiches and claim they are the best in the world. You have to try the skillet fried pie with ice cream though. They are the little restaraunt with the big taste.

We went to Miss Polly's and had the chicken fried chicken with green beans, white beans and ham and jalapeño cornbread. The chicken was great. Really crispy and spicy, but not too spicy. (I can't tolerate spicy hot foods well) The green beans were really good, very flavorful! The white beans and ham? Not so good. It was more like mashed beans and no ham and lacking taste. The cornbread was a little dry, but still good. I thought I wasn't going to be able to eat it because of the jalapeño in it but I couldn't even taste the jalapeño, which was perfect for me. My daughter had a grilled chicken salad that she liked, my husband had catfish with fries and slaw that he said was excellent. I didnt like that I paid 1.99 for a drink, which is common now, but it usually includes refills. For 1.99 here, I got a can of diet coke. This place is small and definitely not fancy. For the 3 meals plus tip, we paid about $55. Overall, it was a good experience.
Bernrome
Had the chicken and waffles. The waffle was an ordinary Belgian waffle, which I liked, and the chicken was delicious. Friendly service, too.

YUMMMMY and NICE PEOPLE!. My mom, my daughter and I stopped in here on a Sunday after spending a weekend in Tunica. This place seemed to be the only one opened at the time and we were hungry and ready to head back to St Louis. I am glad they were the only ones opened!!! The nicest people and great food for the price! I had a smoked pork sandwhich and all I can say is YUM! We already said that when we go back to Memphis that Miss Polly's will be seeing us again for sure!!!
Traci Rekitt Lockwood
Fantastic chicken and turnip greens! Don't miss it!

Great. Some friends and I decided to have lunch at Polly's and omj it was really, really good. We all had chicken and sides, everything was soooooooooo good I will be going back. We did not have to wait for our food, it was fresh and seasoned to perfection. The waitress was alright .
Jennifer
We had a great early dinner. We ordered the fried pickle and green tomato combo which was excellent. The fried chicken, chicken fried steak, and chicken fried chicken were all great. My only complaint was some of our sides were cold. The waitress was very friendly and kept our sweet tea filled.
The Charles
Best breakfast in town with attentive service too!
SouthEastD
Surprisingly Tasty. Had not heard a thing about this place, but decided to stop in for lunch on a recent visit to Memphis. I was honestly surprised. The fried chicken was excellent! Seemed to be cooked to order and very flavorful. The side dishes were "ok" (very acceptable, but nothing special).
BLK
Fried pies snd fried pickles are good, place is filthy!
Brian Smith
Nothing incredible. Went here on the recommendation that it's better than Gus' (which I still haven't tried). Ordered the Rusty Rooster (fried breast and wing, and one waffle). The waffle was awesome with just the right amount of crispness, but it's a thick, almost Belgian-style waffle. The chicken had a weak flavor (needed lots of hot sauce), and was overcooked-way too crispy and char-tasting. Ran 12 bucks with a water. Service was friendly. Food took a while to come out. Atmosphere was great-can't beat watching an old Sam & Dave concert on the TV there.
Jae
Awesome southern style breakfast and energetic staff. Defintely the best place for breakfast.
Alyssa Long
...Whether you eat them like I do, with just some maple syrup, or you go all out like Jeremy with hot sauce andddd maple syrup (weird sounding but apparently it's amazing), you won't be disappointed by this southern meal.
Ken's Food Find
The scrambled eggs are great on its own and even better with sausage and grits. In future visits, I might choose this as an entrée over Miss Polly’s premier dish.
Tiffany
...new contender to fight for my heart and my designation as best fried chicken in Memphis.
Holly Whitfield
Miss Polly’s is very Beale Street. They serve breakfast, lunch and dinner, and judging by the signs all over the restaurant, most of their menu items are fried.
