Nice chill Thai restaurant. You could come here and take it slow and easy. Food is reasonably priced although not exactly cheap. Service is not rushed but it is pleasant. Typical Thai pop music playing in the background is nice. Good quality food that has the right flavours and isn't too sweet ( which is a mistake I have noticed in many other Thai restaurants)

GRU Thai restaurant
Pros:
👨Staff are really friendly and helpful
🚗 Although located in a main road, parking was relatively easy to find
💰 Prices are quite cheap and good quantities
Cons:
🥘 The food was terrible. Everything tasted pre packaged. My salad was covered in so much bottled peanut dressing I couldn’t eat it. The ginger stir fry actually had a urine smell to it. It was quite terrible.

This Thai restaurant is located on Clarendon Street near the corner of park street. There's plenty of space in the restaurant including floor seatings. The food is pretty pricey for the portion but still in lin with most of the restaurants in south Melbourne. We forgot the name of the dishes but the stir fry minced pork and the vermicelli dish are great!

Really good! We had the Thai buffet which was $29.90 each. It had a selection of meat (beef, chicken & pork), along with other sides like mushrooms, noodles, fish balls, veggies and others. The meat was placed on top of a stove to be BBQ-ed, whilst the others are placed on the sides and filled with soup, sort of like a hot-pot style cuisine, but combined with BBQ! It also comes with sides like special fried rice, deep fried calamari, ham & cheese spring rolls and more, which were all yummy. Although the waiters are not fluent in English, they still provided us with good hospitality. Would recommend!

Delicious! Authentic pad Thai food and atmosphere. Highly recommend a visit - will be a new regular eatery for us.

Food was actually quite delicious however was very disappointed in the portion of the dishes. Paid 12.95$ for vegetables, I think I should have received more than this.

It's okay.
Cool seating area, service was okay, food was pretty good for the price.
I had my red duck curry served to me in a coconut, with another small bowl of curry next to it, and it was so confusing.. I didn't understand what the point of this was. Just put it all in a bowl 🤔
Unfortunately so many little pieces of broken coconut shell were inside my curry and it almost broke my bloody tooth. It was a tasty dish, but overcomplicated, with probably 9 pieces of coconut shell amongst it, which made the experience annoying.

Maybe we experienced something different to other reviewers as frankly our hopes were dashed with a beef dish that was so chewy it could have been mistaken for a doggy tooth toy. If you know what I mean. It tasted okay but with limited veggies that were soft and overcooked. Not recommended.
A yellow curry chicken tasted great and the veggies weren't quite so obliterated. However it was soaked in oil.
The price was fine and the ambience cool. But we will not be back.
