What a night!! Came here with my sisters on the weekend and had an absolute ball. The cocktails were fantastic and food was great. They moved locations but it’s still just as good. I love the antique interior it’s like stepping into Europe! 😍

we had not made a reservation and they fortunately had a free table. enjoyed the drinks and lovely ambience. ordering drinks were at our fingertips via the QR code which made it very easy (no more lining up at the bar). they also served food upstairs but we were specifically there for drinks.

The food was good(ish) but everything else not so much. We had booked table in restaurant Saturday 1pm for 4 of us, upon arrival were directed to the rooftop bar as restaurant was closed due to a lack of staff. OK so rooftop bar was cold and the waitperson asked if we would like heater on, yes please. She didn't turn it on. We asked another two staff members to turn heater on, neither of them did. We had to order using table app however not all items listed in restaurant menu were available on app. Also asked for coffee and were told that coffee wasn't available (seriously Melbourne winter, outdoor dining no coffee!!). The rooftop bar area hosts a Mad Hatters tea party Saturday afternoons and all the staff seemed focused on this and we were definitely an afterthought. Had to ask for side plates to share entrees we ordered and we also asked for water which we never got. The entrees, warm olives, arancici and croquettes were delicious while the mains, gnochi with mushroom sauce were delicious however two Porterhouse steaks were chewy and fatty and interestingly on the physical menu they were priced at $38 while on app price was $42 and the fish (barramundi) was cold. The sides, rocket salad and fries were good. We didn't try dessert as we were all dying for a coffee so we had to leave to get one however on way out when we were asked if we had enjoyed our meal I said disappointing could not get coffee and he responded in surprise that they did coffee and offered to make it for us but we decided to go elsewhere. So our experience at State of Grace was not what we were expecting.

I wouldn't count this place as a must visit. I will highlight they had a wedding reception in the main bar. Our arrival time was 1800. We asked if there was space in the roof top bar for two. They had to intercom up and made us wait 5 minutes until they 'found space'. On entering the roof top bar. There were no more than 20 people in there and plenty of staff. The table ordering app didn't work. The chips we ordered never came. Cocktails were ordinary. Drinks glasses are small. The picture from the male toilets sums it up really.

Front service was a bit off but maybe because they were understaffed that night?? the food covered up for that. Food was amazing! Perfectly cooked steaks, hot fries, arancini and the chocolate mousse was topnotch!

My partner introduced me to this place. We were greeted with a smile and were given a table on the roodtop. I must say that I really enjoyed the food and the atmosphere. You can tell that the staff there were passionate about their jobs, especially the chef and kitchen staff, the foods were meticulously prepared with their heart and soul. Vey delicious and just the right portion. Will definitely come back for more. Keep up the good work guys!

The hidden effrontery of 'State of Grace' is the ultimate 'Fall from Grace' , an hidden bar that's as exciting as the entrance to the bar. Some amazing drinks, beautiful ambience, nice music makes a perfect spot for a special date or a party!! Not costly at all, soon becoming one of the best bars in Melbourne, loved every moment spent here.
