I had a take away from Butchers Diner for dinner with friends. I had a cheese burger, octopus & sausage skewer, Korean beef skewer, grilled broccoli and chips. The beef patty is not like commercial processed mince beef patties. It is fresh and crafted so that it is a beef patty with a texture when you bite into it. Quite frankly I loved the octopus and sausage skewers more than the burger. The way it is grilled left the octopus tender, not rubbery. The balance between the octopus and the sausage is wonderful. The beef skewers were again tender not overdone so it was impressive. Because I'm from Canberra, it was comparable to Brod burger (quite famous burger joint in Canberra). Aside from the burger, I think I like Butchers Diner more.

The only late night spot you should be going to if you’re in the city. Lost count of the amount of times I’ve come in for lunch and dinner. Daily specials always appealing. It gets busy but you will not be disappointed. Must haves for me are blood sausage and deviled egg sandwich, cheese burger with bacon, potato salad and the buttermilk friend chicken sandwich. Cracker joint!

A must visit for me when visiting Melbourne. Burgers are made well and good quality. Store entrance is not as obvious so keep your eyes peeled when walking along Bourke st. They were full when I visited, so i got it takeaway and took it to the nearby Parliament gardens and enjoyed my burger and fries picnic style.

5 stars purely based on the food. The food here is unassumingly good and affordable. Truly a hidden gem in Melbourne. First, let's talk burger. What we came for, but wasn't the star. It was a very good cheeseburger we had - the patty had more of a sausage consistency than the usual beef patties, but nothing to complain about. The star of the show was the Kingfish collars we had - the Daily Monger Cut. Wow wow wow. I got my hands all dirty for this finger licking good dish. The sides we got were also amazing. I was sick of having chips so opted for the warm potato salad and it delivered. Needed some greens too and the charcoal broc with tahini was killing it - earthy and fresh. I'm not from Melbourne but the next time I'm here, I'm definitely back for more (and I know I'll be ordering not burgers this time)

Great service, friendly staff. We got the hamburger deal which was good value for money, unfortunately hamburger wasn’t the best I’ve had. It lacked flavour. Chips however were well salted and crunchy. Also had a dim sim which was amazing, their dim sims are from South Melbourne market. I will return to try other things on the menu though.

Great casual place in the city. They are so busy on the weekend, but lucky we got a spot straight away. The food was pretty good .. I will definitely come back to try their specials on the menu

Great customer service, went on a Saturday afternoon and wasn’t busy. Young lady who served was super friendly and helpful. Cheese burger with bacon was spot on. Love the crispy bacon touch. Octopus and Chinese sausage spot on. Pork tongue very chewy but nice flavour.

This place specialise in beef; inside you can see the different cuts of beef undergoing the dry-ageing process in the meat storage cabinet. Everyday they have a different daily special and what caught my eye was the French dip which was available on Saturdays. The bread roll was lightly toasted; shaved wagyu beef was tender, not much seasoning if any but can appreciate the natural beefy taste. The sweet onions and melted cheese added an additional layer of flavour and texture. Accompanied with a runny savory dipping sauce, it added the much needed juiciness to each bite. Overall pretty tasty.
