We couldn’t find a entrance door first then finally found a pretty small door. Coffee was really good. IMO it was a best coffee during our staying in Melbourne this time. We also loved a ham & cheese croissant and a danish. I’d like to order a plain croissant and a latte next time so It might be a great breakfast.

The store is warm, inviting and extremely well appointed. I love the long communal table, which surprisingly provides sufficient room when all chairs are taken. The chairs are ergonomic and comfortable to sit in. The staff are engaging and I enjoyed the exchange I had with each. Coffee and meal were brought to the table without delay. The design of the store is such that I could easily see myself working from my laptop for a few hours. The vibe within the store was upbeat. People congregated for takeaways, without interfering or encroaching on customers dining in. The acoustics were perfect and given the shop was full > 20 people, this amazed me. There was plenty of natural lighting. I enjoyed drinking my coffee and it gave me the “pep” I was seeking. One suggestion is to offer those dining in the complementary water and have it delivered to the table.

Wonderful and succulent Rotisserie Chicken with gravy on a roll. The chicken was tender and juicy. Very pleasant to eat as the gravy complemented the meat really well. Had a bit of tang and savoriness in the sauce that made it a pleasant bite right from beginning until finish.

we had buttermilk barramundi collar and chips for $19 - that's really steep when it is not fillet being served. granted the chips were really good and so would the fish have been if i didn't have to keep spitting out fish scales.
you scale the fish before you cook and serve it, chef!

On the corner of Queen Vic Markets, you might be tempted to get a borek or a bratwurst (both good options) but if you feel like something comforting, and homely go to Picketts. The interior is decked out very nicely, and would give many fine dining establishments a run for their money.
I've had the rotisserie chicken with roast vegetables - juicy tender chicken with succulent skin, with enough veggies to make you feel like you're at a white person's house for Sunday Roast. Corn on the cob isn't a great lunch option because no one looks cute eating corn but delicious regardless.
I've also had the crispy roast pork roll with pineapple chutney. PINEAPPLE CHUTNEY. i could end it here. but the crispy pork roll could give banh mi a run for its money.
If I was food royalty - which I'm not, I would annoint Scott Pickett the King of Comfort Food. He's the ish.
9/10

Excellent place as you would expect from Scott Pickett (Estelle, ESP). Stylish cafe with reasonable prices nice seats, good service. My softshell crab in brioche was delicious....definitely a good place for a regular meal before or after market.

Simply delectable. For years I have been lamenting about the fact that I cannot find a place that serves a decent roast, you know, the one your Grandma used to cook on a Sunday. Well we have a winner, and they have taken it to the next level.
I ordered the ‘Bannockburn chicken, confit vegetables & gravy’. Actually, I ordered it twice in one week because to put it bluntly, it is simply that good. I work near the CBD so am lucky to be able to get it delivered to my work.
The chicken had beautiful crispy skin, I was overjoyed with the rich flavours that infused through the meat. The confit vegetables were utterly divine, fresh and full of flavour and the gravy was to die for!
Faultless in every possible way.

Just stunning lunch!! Great coffee and seriously good sandwiches!! Try the pulled chicken with the crispy skin and the Rueben that we had were both to die for!
The people working there are ever helpful and sweet!
Oh!! And buy his book! Seriously worth it!!
One suggestion as they do not have bathrooms in the premises as people are supposed to use the toilets of the market would be to have some wet wipes.. would be helpful to wipe your hands from the stickyness of the sandwich afterwards!
