Citizen Cafe & Bar

Situated on the walkway along the Yarra river, this cafe/brunch joint serves the usual suspects like coffee and meals. We came during breakfast hours and tried the muffins and toasted croissant. Overall it was pretty standard and definitely a little pricey. Great decor and vibe though. Food - 6 Service - 7 Vibe - 9 Price - $$$

Great vibes and spacious seating. Let's first start with an alcoholic bubble t. So sweet and delicious. I did thoroughly enjoy the drink as it was so easy to drink. Chai sui ramen is so rich and flavourful. The char sui is tender and smoked. The ramen is so soft and delicious. Japanesea Vegetable curry with pork katsu. The katsu has a crisp panko batter with tender meat. The sauce is creamy with chopped veggies. Tonkatsu sandwich- imagine your childhood with crustless bread and a thick crispy tonkatsu. The meat was slightly dry but we'll flavoured. Yuzu cheesecake - presented warm with the most delicate soft yuzu cheesecake. The fruits complimented the sweetness of the cheesecake.

I am so pleased to have stumbled onto this place while on a recent trip to the city! It was so good in fact that I returned almost daily - the long black coffees and BLT breakfast sandwichs were particularly outstanding. The consistently nice service and quality of the food makes this an ideal spot (and the coffees are the best I had in the city). If you are in the DFO/CBD area, this is a must try! Everything else around the immediate area was overpriced and fairly mediocre. Can’t wait to go back here again!

Love the mood and modern fit out at this South Wharf bar - great place for a date. Enjoyed the cocktails and gin tasting board (bargain for 4 samples at $25). Food menu, designed to share, had some great dishes...stand outs to me is the beef short rib, prawn brioche, the bresola and the matcha brownie. Great spot with friendly service.
