Miyako Japanese Cuisine & Teppanyaki

I think for most tepenyaki restaurants you go there for the experience, and my partner and I definitely got that! The chef was skilled, however, as he was a little older, seemed less enthusiastic about cooking and doing tricks. I can definitely say I got very, very full, and it was nice to sit and watch our food being cooked in front of us. The food was good, it wasn't like I hadn't tasted stuff like that before, so I think in the end you are just paying for the experience. I enjoyed it overall, although I don't think I would go again....

I enjoyed my first tepanyaki in Melbourne. The service is lovely and I am amazed how a simple dish turned into a extravagant meal. I liked watching how the chef cooked the food with a bit of show especially lighting up the steak with to create a hot flaming fire. I also loved the sticky rice dessert.

Have been to this restaurant 30-40 times since the 90's. Always loved it. Recently booked it online for 10 people. Then got a call while I was at work to leave a deposit. Couldn't take the time to read out my card and not sure why the online booking couldn't have taken the deposit. Called to pay the deposit, then got hit with a credit card surcharge. Decided to cancel the booking and deal with a restaurant that appreciates customers.

This is a mid range teppanyaki place suitable for groups of of up to 10 people with a reasonable atmosphere and fantastic wine list. Parking is relatively easy at Southgate. The chefs do fun stuff like through omelette pieces into the diners mouths, but the "show" is relatively mild. Great place for the price range.

The WORST Teppanyaki experience EVER! Extremely regretted after visiting this restaurant. Felt bothered during the teppanyaki shows, food’s been played and wasted, which is not funny! just wanna have a good with my partner and friend. The flavour was a disaster, I’ve never tasted any lobster like that!!!!! Anyway, definitely not go back. Even not worth for 1 star.
