Simply Spanish Bourke Street

8 of us work colleagues went here early on a Thursday evening for dinner. Place soon filled up so I recommend booking. The waitress alerted us to the fact that it was Happy Hour but when pressed, she couldn't really tell us what that meant, which was strange. I had a glass of the Rose which was very nice and my colleagues shared a jug of the housemade Sangria. We shared several paellas which were very good, the seafood one especially with plenty of prawns, scallops and other goodies. Portion sizes overall we felt could have been larger. Very tasty food with good service.

We got Croquetas, Gambas al Ajillo, Crumbed Chicken Ribs, Patatas Bravas, Smoky Lamb Ribs, Seafood and Chicken & Chorizo Paellas. Definitely try their Seafood Paella 👌 full of fresh seafoods & perfect seasonings (FYI, Best Paella Outside of Spain Award in 2016 and 2018!) Smoky Lamb Ribs were also delicious. Juicy and tender, what more can you ask for? A lot of great Spanish restaurants closed down post-COVID. Great food and service to suit. The paella is almost fresh and consistently good. The prices are a bit high but I guess the fact that I return implies the food is worth the price. One of the added benefits of visiting The Simply Spanish is that it is in the South Melbourne market. If you haven’t been here, it is worth a visit.
