Lam's Kitchen

This is the best Chinese in CLT! We’ve been wanting to visit for a while and are so glad we finally did. Everything was delicious, hot and flavorful. A few things we really appreciated: - takeout comes in plastic containers with secure lids. Sounds like this wouldn’t matter, but this kept the food super hot on the drive home and they are reusable! - wide variety of dishes that are very authentic to what you may find in China. No more cheap, Americanized Chinese. After eating here, you’ll never go anywhere else. - staff is very friendly and helpful with the menu even over the phone. - this is the first restaurant that’s gotten our order 100% correct throughout this whole pandemic. So many other places forget items or don’t make it like you ask, but Lam’s got it all right! Thank you! - the cheese wantons, dumplings and pepper steak are delicious!

Having grown up in Charlotte in the 90s, I never would have imagined where, returning home after living in NYC for 10+ years, we would find our favorite Chinese cooking right. here. in Matthews. My thanks and respect to the kitchen staff: they know what they are doing. Knock-your-socks-off quality and generous portions in every take-out order. My husband and I love this local gem.

Really delicious food.... the Sichuan dumplings are pure insanity. All the other dishes were exceptional—really interesting flavors and spices. Not your typical Chinese restaurant menu. It is a small venue, so be prepared to wait at prime time. Living in uptown, this is a very far drive for me, but totally worth it. I will be back! Fantastic and authentic.

Best and most authentic Szechuan food in the Charlotte area. Worth the drive. We always get the fried shrimp balls (always get 2 orders!), the Szechuan dumplings (get like 2-3 orders!), Cumin Lamb, Curry Soft Shell Crab (my absolute fave!), Boiled Beef (don’t let the name fool you- it’s Effin AMAZING!!), Beef Chow Fun (duh). If you have any Boiled Beef leftover... add ramen noodles or any noodles the next day and Bam! You have an amazing lunch!

I've lived in Charlotte/the Charlotte Metro area for 15 years now, and I have never experienced such amazing Szechuan/Chinese food in this area or in any other place. I'm lucky to live near the restaurant and order 2x a week regularly. The owner, Joe Lam, can usually be seen cooking in his own restaurant, and they take such pride in the quality of their food. The food is SO DELICIOUS, no canned sauces--you can see fresh chopped herbs cooked into the sauce. The Chinese dishes have no fryer oil or msg tatse, and the Szechuan dishes are actually spicy, and a lot of them are so authentic I've never seen them before ordering here. LAM's is hands-down my favorite restaurant ever❤❤❤
