There's been a lot of buzz about the new feature restaurant on Massillon's West Side. It's my honor to place you officially on Google Maps and welcome you to our town.
Upon arriving there is some confusion as to where you will enter the building. There is ample unlit parking but nothing that really directs you to the door. I finally asked a patron that was outside and they directed me to the very front door. (A nice sign over the entrance and the addition of something that directs your eye from the parking lot - perhaps on the fencing for the beer garden/patio area could be really beneficial).
We were greeted at the door by a young child who kindly held the door and welcomed us inside. We were then greeted by friendly front-end staff who smiled and waved and ushered us to a booth table. The general atmosphere of the restaurant was loud and overly illuminated. There three defined areas : the outdoor area/patio where smoking was permitted, just off of that a dining area with booths and tables and little else to attract the eye, and then the main area with the bar, which was filled with tv's that featured primarily sports, also a dart board and a juke box.
it would have made more sense for the two interior rooms to be switched, and for the area that did not include the bar to perhaps be a bit quieter than the bar area.
The menu is perfect with a variety of choices to suit everyone. The menu items and some of the beverage choices have pickle related names. We ordered the pretzel crusted deep fried beer cheese as an appetizer which was served with marinara. It was amazing and the marinara was perfect, not overly spicy or runny like some places.
Splenda is not offered at this location.
For entree's we went with burgers and opted to upgrade to fries instead of the homemade chips which we felt would be better paired with the sandwiches. The angus patties did not appear to be hand-formed which was a little disappointing.. but the overall flavor of the meat was agreeable. The roll was fresh and had been lightly toasted on the grill, it was stacked high with overflowing toppings and garnished with a famous wicked pickle and a grape tomato, served next to the bed of fresh cut fries.
They offer an option with the fries to get them with their beer cheese sauce, wicked sauce (which is kind of like a sirracha mixed with BBQ) & green onion.
The wicked burger is a double angus patty with the wicked sauce, jalapenos and beer cheese.
All the hiccups aside the food is Delicious and Frank Hill really hits the mark with his menu items. It will surely become a treasured venue for friends and families to visit when they are craving a fun pub atmosphere with a food selection of higher quality than your average pub.
They have been open only a couple of weeks but I believe they will works out all the kinks and easily become a favored dining destination, I look forward to returning in a few months and trying the deep fried cheesecake dessert. Make plans to visit and take a friend!
Our waitress Nicole was fantastic. Very attentive and gave good recommendations. We got several appetizers and the tots with beer cheese was the biggest hit.
Food was pretty tasty. Server was very friendly and knowledgeable. They have sailor jerry's rum.. which is awesome. Ambiance is modern and clean. Will definitely be visiting again. Locally owned makes the place that much better. Only reason I didn't do 5 stars was the initial wait for our server to get to us was like 15 minutes, maybe 20... but it was worth the wait.
We got here and we were greeted by such a friendly staff. We ordered steak and I'm so picky about my steak. It has to be well done no pink. Normally people can't cook well done without burning it or it's so tough I can't chew it. That is not the case here the steak is cooked to perfection. Its soft and has an amazing taste. We also got the fried pickles that was the icing on the cake. They were amazing also. I can't wait to come back. Best steaks in town. Couldn't ask for a better place to eat.
The staff was friendly and attentive. The wings were great! We ordered several sauces and they were all great. The drinks are fantastic. Pickle by the ocean is a favorite. Reccomend to anyone looking for a casual place to get great food and drinks.
I have only been there twice and both times the food was excellent. My first visit was St. Pattys Day and despite the chaos and crowd, my bar service was phenomenal. this review is getting 4 stars because my second visit, this past Saturday.. my service was absolutely terrible. I trust that this was a bartender problem and will not judge this business as a whole. My bartender Amanda was terrible. (I made sure to ask her name). If she wasn’t complaining about being there then She was talking badly about other individuals right next to myself and my husband.... either way it was totally unprofessional. I felt more like a burden than a customer. As I mentioned earlier I will not judge the business as a whole for this because of my first experience on st pattys day.
Delicious food, great staff. The setup is great, the menu offered a great selection (assuming you aren't a vegatarian, at which point you'll either go for the apps, or a salad minus the meat.) I will definitely come back. I would come back even more if they had vegetarian options for the girlfriend.
I frequently visit the Wicked Pickle! I have not been disappointed once! Great service and fantastic food! Frank is very warm and gracious! Had 2 for $25 steaks tonight! They were cooked perfectly and had a delicious flavor! My new "go to" restaurant!
