Went on our Friday night GPS restaurant search last night exploring Martinez CA again. This time we looked up 5 star Japanese food and found one that was 4.5 stars. We were expecting a fancy restaurant so we called in for reservations. To our surprise it was a small hole in the wall place and we're laughing because of the reservations we made. We were not disappointed, the food was exceptional. At Japanese restaurants I always order sashimi to see how fresh it is and beef teriyaki to see if I get a steak and I did get both. This is only the second Japanese restaurant I've been to that actually serves you a steak. Most others I've been to serve you a bunch of thin sliced over done beef strip drowned in teriyaki sauce. My wife's tempura was flaky crisp and not oily. The only problem is this place is small, there are only 2 large tables and a few small ones. But for us this place is definitely worth coming back too.
My favorite sushi restaurant. Very fresh. Great service at this very small hideaway. I always see young children and families enjoying sushi here. Highly recommend.
Great value and service. Pepper albacore is really tasty. Real crab often available on request. Solid sake selection.

We love getting food from Okini! Delicious and fresh sushi! Tonkatsu is excellent too. My favorite is the Chirashi Don.
Excellent fresh fish, great assortment of rolls. A pretty good selection for vegetarians. Tempura is light and not greasy. I don't know about other cooked items, I usually stick to sushi and sashimi, very fresh.
This place is awesome. I went early, around 11:30am, so it was pretty quiet...but.... The service was good and the food was AMAZING. Low carb roll was great, sake was great and honestly, i can't wait to come back and try more of their dishes
Okini sushi is my favorite sushi place in Pleasant Hill Martinez area. I have been to five other places and now I only come here. They are so consistent and reliable with their food and their rolls and nigiri are to die for. The staff is nice, quick and efficient. Cannot recommend this place more! My favorite to order are they Happy rolls and Joe’s rolls.
SOLID and TASTY Japanese fare at a more than fair price! Whenever I come up from LA to visit family in Martinez, I always come in to dine or get takeout from Okini! Just came in with family and friends today and even brought home some scrumptious delicacies for my 98 year old Grandmother!
The sushi here is great...small place with great food
We love this place. Order from here a couple times a month. Super fresh and super kind staff. My toddler loves the teriyaki plate and avocado roll (we add cucumbers!).
The food and service here is always excellent! It has become my new favorite local sushi place ❤️
