El Charro

No jalapenos were harmed at this place, it's the blandest Mexican food you'll ever eat! The atmosphere is decent, we were seated quickly. The complimentary chips were served with a bland tomato paste without as much as a hint of spicy heat. This is pretty disappointing for a Mexican restaurant! The fajitas were of great quality, but again, sooo very bland!

Coming from So Cal, home of the best Mexican food places in the U. S., I must say that I was very skeptical about the food I would get from a place in MO. Well, we ordered the steak and shrimp fajitas and we were impressed. Our waitress, Ashley, was so friendly and they took in our party of 10 right before closing after being turned away from Hunan Chinese food nearby. (so glad Hunan turned out business down). We started with patron margaritas that were delicious and then enjoyed the delicious and plentiful fajitas, chips and guacamole. Only thing negative was that the house salsa was very weak but they had Valentinos bottles for a bit more heat. The waitress was attentive and even put sombreros on the kiddos and took our pictures. The folks here were very accommodating and didn't rush us out although we were there well after closing. They actually had a good playlist of Chente, banda and ranchera musica too.

Service was a little hectic. We were looked over by accident. The food runner actually ended up serving us, so we topped her. The Food: amazing. Delicious, flavored well, cooked to perfection and portions were really good. The food was good enough that a little service mishap (which was handled appropriately after the fact) didn't sway my rating. Eat here. It's tasty.

We stopped here on a road trip from Texas. I must admit the place was a bit unassuming as we parked, however after we entered I was surprised at how large the place actually was. The menu has a ton of variety and deeper than most high end Mexican places. Prices were very good and very large margaritas (wife was pleased). Only thing keeping me from giving 5 stars is the service could have been better, not that it was bad, but it was pretty empty and the waitress just didn't really come by all that often to check on us. Overall experience was great and would defiantly stop again if down that way in the future.

Well, my wife and I have been coming here for years. But recently it has been going downhill. And tonight just topped it off. To start with, it wasn't busy but took a while to get our order taken. We ordered our tea and cheese sauce for dipping. Both glasses of tea had almost no ice. The cheese dip was barely warm. I ordered the two enchiladas with cheese sauce on one and enchilada sauce on the other. Practically no cheese sauce on one and I would swear nothing but tomato sauce on the other. When asked about it, the manager ( with an attitude) says it was enchilada sauce. And no rice with either dish. And it was getting close to closing time. And talk about feeling rushed to get out. Worst It's ever been. After tonight, don't know if we will be back. We really miss what Charros used to be.
