Smokey Que's

My husband and I were in town visiting when we ordered takeout for four adults. We ordered two pounds of choped barbecue,a rack of ribs,corn poppers, green beans, an individual side of potato salad, one quart of coleslaw, and a large order of fries family size. This order could have fed 6 starving people judging from the leftovers that were enjoyed later. I'm sure we all were full long before we stopped eating,and we all felt like bigger pigs than the one we ate 🤣🐷! Everything was absolutely amazing and still hot after taking it back to our gathering twenty minutes away. This was the best barbecue we've ever had!!! And now we have to travel 2 hours back there to have more!

First, we drove 14 miles out of our way to find this place .. I'm so glad we did, it was outstanding from the atmosphere of the restaurant it was true, BBQ if you can sit outside, it's beautifully done . I order the 2 choice meal and wife the bbq sandwich.. our choices of sides were collards, bake beans ,and bbq slaw.. the ribs were very good moist and easy to eat with a fork with a sweet bbq sauce with a very pleasant smoke favor pulled pork also very good with a carolina style sauce with 3 choices sauces all home made . Service was excellent with the owner stopping by and talking to us. Nice touch by the way .. the one thing personally I would like a little warmer food not that it was cold my personal preference is I like hot .. which is so hard in a BBQ restaurant to do .. the place is worth the extra drive off the highway because the food is amazing..

The flavor is ok. The smoke flavor is there for sure, but I feel like the texture is way off... almost like they thaw them in water. The ""cheese curds"" lol are basically just mozzarella sticks chopped into smaller chunks, breaded frozen, and fried. I'm a huge cheese buff, so I promise you will understand what im saying if you LOVE and KNOW cheese. It's not a bad place if it's the only thing in town. It got our attention on the route home. One strange thing to me was that they called the wings "Daytona style," which was fried wings tossed in the sauce of your choice and then baked. Not bad, just a strange thing to call that method due to the fact that it's a mountainous region.. ... don't really fit the region it's in, I guess. Being a Florida girl, it was strange to me. Overall, great joint if they fix the texture issue and maybe tweak those so-called cheese curds. 4 stars.

The food was great and the service was amazing. We pretty much tried the whole menu. Pork cheese fries- great flavor Chop bbq- great smoky flavor Ribs- tender fell off the bone Pickle chips- a little dry, but good flavor Hush puppies- savory flavor Beans- hint of sweetness Fried catfish- moist and delicious Corn- grilled corn on the cob Fried okra- not slimy and fried to perfection We will be back! :)
