We made reservations for a family dinner on Valentines Day dinner thru OpenTable. Café Spezia allowed us to make a last minute increase in our party, probably due to a snowstorm that came through. The restaurant is small and it was busy. We were a bit crammed into our table.
The food was fantastic! The service was a bit slow, but to they were getting slammed on V-day. It took forever to get our water, our entrees, and then our bill. The salad/appetizer courses and dessert came out quickly though.
My chief criticism of the place is that the portion sizes are ENORMOUS!! Way too much food for a single person. All individual entrees should be shared and it should state that on the menu. Even the salads were large enough for 2-3 people.
The prices were reasonable, I'm not even sure if they can make money giving away all that food. They do not have a liquor license, but I understand that this is a bureaucraticproblem with the Township. You are allowed to bring in your own wine though.
So overall, it is a good restaurant. Traditional Italian cuisine that doesn't miss the mark. The owner and staff seem like good, friendly people. I would definitely go there again, but next time.... we will share!
I went to this restaurant with my grandmother and we loved it. Excellent service and great Italian food.
