Four Lakes isn't too bad. People complain about the service or quality of the food but it's student dining so can't expect too much. As one of the larger dining halls on campus, the selections are pretty good, though it can be busy during meal times. There are a ton of dining areas, a fireplace, and some small booths that are great for concentrated studying. The only con might be that it's not on the way or close to any classes if you're in a hurry and don't live in Dejope.
The staff here primarily consists of students who generally work hard to provide helpful service. The food itself is generally average with no exceptional standouts, but for a University Housing resident the discount on all purchases with your Wiscard make your meals well worth it. The menu varies day to day. I personally enjoy the pulled pork at 1849 (one of the many subrestaurants), just make sure to steer clear of the sauce because it is so sweet that it buries the rest of the flavor. Overall, it's an absolute must for University Housing students but there are better options if you're a visiting parent or are looking for an outstanding Madison restaurant.
Dejope is my favorite place to eat on campus. Healthy, affordable and lots of options. However, it could definitely be improved.
Specifically, portions vary greatly depending on who is serving. I have received both hearty and VERY MEASLY portions of pasta. Once I also paid over $4 for 1 SCOOP of peanut stew.
Also, items that aren't ordered very often, such as black bean burgers can take FOREVER to thaw and cook. While I understand that it is hard to items ready to go that don't get ordered very often, but it is still a negative.
I eat at Dejope a lot, and so obviously it provides a service that I value.
I chose the salad bar for lunch since there was a nice assortment of very fresh ingredients to build the salad from. There are also stations that have many other types of food and beverages. Seating options include inside or outside tables and chairs. Overall a very nice place to grab a meal whether you're by yourself or with friends or family.
So excited to come back this year ! After the New sushi chefs came The service and the sushi is very clean and very good ! The lady name is Dawt and she is awesome 👏🏻 Hope She still come back and make delicious sushi for students.
This is the lakeshore dinning hall, but is open to the public. It is not a "food plan" dinning hall, it is an Ala-cart style where u pay for what u get, but a 5% discount for using your WiscCard and 30% off if you are a UW housing student. I am able to get a nice salad or sandwich for about $3 and can bring friends to eat there too. The place looks great and during main times has tons of selections and still has food available all day round.
Great dining hall for UW students, faculty, and visitors. There are plenty of options to choose from. The staff work hard to keep food available and to make your visit great. If you ever want a waffle at 9:00 pm this is the place to go.
