So delicious! I had a carne asada taco, chicken taco, and a pork taco. All were good but the pork was superb. Great rice and beans too.
We visited here last Friday at dinner time. Hands down the best Mexican type food I've tasted in Madison. The chicken taco and pork tamales were excellent. Everything was so fresh and tasted homemade. We will absolutely be returning here!
Confession: I went here 3 days in a week. Monday, I got a quick lunch of chorizo, spinach & mushroom quesadillas (so good!) I came back the next day for the Taco Tuesday special. Then, I dropped by on Thursday for the special on tamales to add to our family dinner. All I can say is fast service, quality food and good prices!

Fifth time here and I still think it's one of the best authentic Mexican restaurants around the entire metro area. Parking out front is easy to access and handicap parking makes it accessible to those in need. They have out-door seating for those that wish to enjoy the outdoors. I’ve had the steak platter, pork tacos, tamales, mole, and couple other dishes, all f them have been the best flavor and generous portions. The tacos are gigantic, you will love them!!! The steak was pretty good and cooked to perfection, not much fat but still plenty of taste for your taste buds.
The horchata had the right amount of flavor, not overpowered and super sugary. Wish they had larger cups as once filled with ice there is not much liquid in the cup, either way this was probable the best horchata I have had in Madison!!!
Taco Tuesday has 1.50 tacos (pretty sure) and on Thursdays they have tamale special, you must try the tamales at all costs, they are so good. They have a few options for salsa, from mild to wild and the chips are warm so I enjoyed some chips and salsa prior to my main dish being delivered
There is a high school on the same block and when school is in session they tend to come here and it gets way full. Not much the owner can do but the parking lot was filthy, seems like some of those customers they have just eat and throw their trash on the floor in the patio area, the wind blows it around and makes the area look trashy,
Very worth checking it out and enjoy some authentic Mexican food!
Food was fantastic! There’s limited seating and we saw plenty of pickup orders. Service was quick and prices were very reasonable. I would recommend this if you’re looking for a tasty Mexican eat
My goodness, what a hidden gem! Their tacos are large and packed with flavor - I had the pastor. Try the tamales as they are silky and delicious. There are specials on tamales on Thursday’s and taco deals on the first Tuesday of every month.
Such a great little spot. Amazing prices. The new lady behind the counter is fast and pleasant. Love this place.
I love el sabor de puebla! This is some of the best Mexican food in Madison, and I'm so glad they have the guaranteed student business to keep them around. I love the enchiladas con mole and highly recommend.
El Sabor de Puebla has been our favorite taco place for over 8 years (they previously were located on Williamson St.)!! They have extremely fast and quality service. We unashamedly & unapologetically go there 1-3 times per week. Whenever we have a hard day, we go and get their delicious dried beef quesadillas and chicken tacos!! They use a lot of food from their farm, so their food is ALWAYS super fresh!! We buy their salsa in bulk because it is so good (we actually joke about drinking it)!! I also highly recommend their flan; it is the homemade and the very best I've ever had. They also have two booths at the North Side Farmer’s Market: one with hot food and one with food from their farm!!
Best Mexican food on the East side. I had a delicious tamal and taco al pastor. Will absolutely be coming back.
