Review Old Hamlin - Ludington

A wonderful dining experience with exceptional service from Aminda. Cozy atmosphere, reasonable prices, and an ALL YOU CAN EAT Soup and SALAD BAR with homemade bread. I ordered the Beef Melt, stacked with Fries on the side, which is one of the best meals I've had in a long time. We also ordered coffee, and it is definitely an above average cup of Joe. Looking forward to eating here again next time we're in town.

Excellent service from Alexis! I was very happy w my breakfast. Over easy eggs cooked perfectly, sausage patties were super tasty & tender, the super thick homemade toast was crispy on the outside & fluffy on the inside. The sausage gravy was pretty good. The pancake was very fluffy & thick. Food tasted very homemade. They also made a whole carafe of decaf coffee just for me. We will definitely return next time we’re in town.

Great service, very good food, and fair prices. Even though the restaurant is very old and historic, it is very clean and efficient. We especially liked the homemade bread and dark roast coffee. The quirky little bathrooms by themselves are reason to visit this place.

Had a great breakfast here! The homemade bread is the real deal! It took real effort to finish my entire omelet, but I was not to be defeated! Needless to say, I did not leave hungry!

Adorable old fashioned dinner equipped with the short bar seats at the counter, with pie on display. Coffee pots brought to the table, menu options as low as $4.99 and the inhouse baked white or cinnamon BREAD was amazing! All four of us enjoyed our breakfast, I had a skillet which is photographed below. The bacon was excellent.

Lovely little restaurant downtown. Had the veggie omelet. More veggies would have been great with a few less potatoes. The biscuits and gravy were great. Hubby had veggie skillet with homemade bread toast and loved it!

Stopped through Ludington & quickly searched a brunch spot. After reading few reviews & seeing this had been around since the 40’s we knew this was it. Oh yea, did I mention homemade pies & bread?! After reading some pompous guys reviews about him being in the back & seeing people walk in the back & being confused about walking to the front (seriously read his review it oozes entitlement) we went in the back & walked to the front (crazy concept) 20 min wait on a busy Saturday was definitely acceptable. Shopped around & came back for our table. The decor is definitely outdated, but this is not a trendy restaurant this is a home cooked meal with a smile. Our server was super sweet & friendly, definitely made us feel right at home. We ordered our entrees & a side salad & the baked potato soup. Unfortunately our server forgot those, but things happen nbd. I chose the “roger burger” medium well hamburger, sautéed onions, pickles, cheese & bacon on some really good marbled Rye. It hit the spot! Fries were meh not crispy enough for me, but that’s me. My partner got the open faced Turkey sandwich on their huge homemade bread & they said it was fantastic! Stuffing was great & the mashed potatoes were right on point! Finished off with done homemade pie. Unfortunately I was kinda disappointed with the pie. As a holiday pie baker I’m always on the hunt for a coconut cream pie that can beat my grandma’s recipe & have never found one close. This custard filling was dense & not creamy at all. Both pies (coconut & lemon) had meringue on them that had shriveled up to a thin shrunken trim. Anyone that bakes knows a good meringue is hard to do, but I expect an established restaurant that has pies on the sign on the front to have perfected a meringue. Ah well! Over all it was a good lunch with a friendly staff & we will stop in again!

They have a large menu. We had breakfast for 3 adults &1 child. Our waitress was very helpful & pleasant. Food prices were reasonable. If we ever come to Ludington, MI again we'd eat here. Very Friendly and Pleasant

We went here today for lunch and the wait time was terrible. The place wasn't even full. After our drink orders had been placed it took 15 minutes to get them. And even when 6 out of the 8 drinks were brought to the table, the other two weren't delivered for another 10 minutes. We finally got to place our order and it took another 30 minutes to get it. I tried to make a complaint and was told there wasn't a manager and was told to speak with another waitress. I told her how long we had been waiting and when I got back to our table our food was being served except one order that the kitchen had supposedly messed up on and was taking longer. Then the waitress that I complained too came to me and said "you're ticket time was only 25 minutes. I know it must have seemed like longer but it wasn't". No apologies or anything but attitude. I will never suggest or come to this place again.

I love a good old fashioned diner breakfast! You seriously won't be disappointed by the portions- come hungry! Tons of options for vegetarians too! I treat my boyfriend to breakfast here when he visits. We usually get the Badger breakfast to split. Gives you a taste of everything and makes for a cheap date to boot! <3 Don't leave without trying the thick sliced toast!

The best breakfast I have ever had. Owner was cooking and waitress said she had opened the restaurant with him for the past 18 years. She gave us some local interests to check out. We will definitely stop again when we get back in Ludington. Beautiful town.

The server was nice and the food was fine but we waited over 40m for our order. She kept having to tell tables that the cooks were skipping orders. Also, the bathroom was filthy. I definitely wouldn't recommend or return based on the experience.

We try a different restaurant every time we go to Ludington. Nice, quaint, family place. 70s music goes with the decor, which we liked a lot. My bf had the ribs, they were cooked to perfection. Delicious. I had the sizzler. It was very good. The fresh bread is a very nice touch. We did the 2 for $24 deal and weren't disappointed. Waitress was very attentive as were all of the staff there.
