Absolutely the very best for Brunch.
The lines out the door at 11:00. Lucky me I always sit at the bar.
Had the Texas burger. Amazing.
Had the side chicken salad. Again Amazing.
The beer, cold and outstanding.
From what I saw coming out of the kitchen. All the brunch breakfast looked extremely good.
A must do place and also a repeat place.
The Crafthouse is located in an unpretentious strip mall on 34th near to Texas Tech. My visit last evening with colleagues was predicated upon reading other Yelp reviews, which piqued my interest. I definitely enjoyed the dining experience. I ordered their grilled chicken salad with a side of Swiss chard. The salad was scrumptious although the side was small and I feel could have been larger based upon the cost of $ 5.00. One of my colleagues ordered a pizza that she hardly touched because it had way too much cheese. The Crafthouse has a decent offering of wine and beer on their menu and the prices are reasonable. My party had mixed reviews of their respective meals yet by and large the consensus of opinion is that this restaurant is pretty good and worth a return visit. My minor suggestion to the owner is to ask the servers not to take customers plates when there is still food left or a sip or two of wine remains in our glasses, which was the case last evening with our particular server.
I was invited to join a younger buddy at noon on a Saturday. The restaurant is easy to get to and has nice parking. I got confused which isn’t unusual for me, and entered into a wrong door into an empty construction area. Geeze Louise. Once in the right door, I see my buddy whom I hadn’t seen since last football season at his tailgate. I will call him Kevin to protect his identity.
The interior is nice, but not so nice it make you feel uncomfortable. We were immediately met by an older lady who turned out to be a very capable waitress. I should have tipped her more. Kevin suggested we start with a Pretzel and I opted for the All-day breakfast for $10. Kevin chose the Fried Ham Sammie. If I go again, I will probably get that or a Bison Burger. The burgers are ½ lb for $14. I am not a huge beer person, and I knew that Kevin is, so I asked him to choose a beer for me to drink. He chose a Fleur de Wheat which turned out to be pretty dang good. I only drank one, but could have easily drank a few more if I wasn’t driving.
The pretzel came and it was pretty amazing. It was $7 which is kind of high, but they give you Shiner bock Mustard and Blanco Queso to dip it into. Blanco Queso wins.
After hearing a few stories from Kevin, our entrees came. I had asked for sunny side up eggs and received one egg and the yoke was overcooked and not runny at all. The Texas Toast was burned but not too bad. The egg was draped over grits with sausage. The sausage was pretty good and the dish could have used a little more sausage and a little less grits. Overall I was not that impressed with this dish. I have had better at Cast Iron Grill and Cracker Barrel. Kevin’s Fried Ham sandwich looked legit.
We sat at a table and right behind Kevin was a booth with two fit middle aged pretty females. The reason I mention this is because I now wonder if they heard some of the stories Kevin told me. He has better stories than probably anyone I have ever met face to face. These are stories about brothels in Germany and Amsterdam or personal female servants he had in Malaysia. Also his consumption of psychedelic mushrooms and other mind altering substances. If Kevin ever wrote a book, I would read it. He would also be good if he ever decided to do a podcast.
Overall I had a really good time. This was due mostly to whom I was with more so than what I was eating. After all it was lunch and I rarely eat lunch and $26 is a bit steep for my wallet. Hell, I can eat dinner at Anna’s twice for that amount and get hugs!
This is an official frekview. God bless dirt city. God bless the Texas Tech baseball team who are keeping me entertained and my father alive.
Enjoyed finding this spot to relax during a long drive. Lively place on a Friday night. TV's all around if you like that. Great selection of beers and wide variety of interesting menu choices. Something for kids as well as adults. I got a winter squash and farro risotto with roasted chicken and brown butter, very good. My only issue was that it was all by itself on the plate, it seemed like it needed a side salad or something. Kids got pizza and grilled cheese and fries, both good. Service was a bit slow but the prices were very reasonable. All in all a good experience.
Don't even get me started on how fabulous the beers and cocktails are! Oh my goodness you can't top them! And I love how they change up with the seasons! Genius!!!! You cannot order anything that isn't delicious here. I hate grits normally but they make grits incredible, best flavor ever! The pot pie was to die for, the pizzas are perfect! LOVE this place!

I cannot get enough of this place! From brunch to dinner, every dish is amazing and I've had about 15 different things. It's seriously a breath of fresh air from all the boring chain restaurants to the overly abundant local "diners." The prices are pretty reasonable for the quality of food and even if there is a line out the door they get people seated quickly. I highly recommend!
I've been to Crafthouse a few times since they stopped being Home Cafe. If I were writing about Home Cafe I would be giving it a 5 star review hands down. The issue I have the Crafthouse is that the food is just not very consistent. I've ordered things are truly out of park great, but then I've ordered other things that are not so great.
My most recent visit I ordered the fish sticks with fries and shared chips and queso with my dinner friend. The queso was really good, but when it was served it already formed a crust of hard cheese on the top. It made me wonder how long it had been sitting before it got to our table. My fish sticks were really three pieces of fried cod. It was breaded well and had a nice crunch to it and the fish itself and nice and flakey. The house tarter sauce was just OK because it was missing something, almost like a key ingredient, but I couldn't put my finger on it. The fries were a complete disappointment. They were over fried and had nothing to offer. I don't mind well done fries, but these were crispy through and through and essentially burnt.
I've had brunch here before and it's pretty good. But again it's a consistency issue. I will continue to go back every now and then because I really want to give this place the benefit of the doubt. They're local and I love supporting local businesses. It's was makes a city like Lubbock a great place to live. But they can improve with delivering more consistently good food.
Long time favorite place in Lubbock. Very nice people who work here and have always treated us well. They have stuck it out to give Lubbock something that we are lacking and I am glad to see it catching on more. I'm sure people may sometimes have a bad experience, but I do think the staff here is more thoughtful than most anywhere in town.
Pros:
- family friendly environment
- awesome craft beer selection
- really unique food
- good service
Cons:
- way overpriced
- smaller portions
Twice Sunday Brunch in a row - Absolutely perfect.. Sunday Brunch is Wonderful. We've tried the Fried Pork with eggs with Awesome cream gravy. Our favorite is the Jalapeno Cheddar Grits. "What's a Grit?" you ask? Freak'n Amazing! The French Toast is crispy on outside, soft inside. How do they do that? The Breakfast Pizza was Delish and Huge! The crust is homemade and awesome!
Every time my husband and I visit for lunch, brunch or even dinner, we are never disappointed. Sometimes the wait staff forgets something here &there. Sometimes one of Managers is a bit of a Smart Ass. The Food outweighs it all.

Crafthouse. Easily my favorite place in Lubbock. They truly put heart and soul into this place, and have worked to make it better. Eat here regularly, at least twice per month, and often weekly. It has not been stellar every single time, but for a restaurant trying to do something different, I have never been deterred when the occasional dish is off a bit. They always get back on track the next time.
Staff is great, fun, and the atmosphere is perfect. Beers are the best in Lubbock (except maybe Crickets, but you can't take your family there), and it is well worth the price. I'll spend $20 on dinner and a beer here over most anywhere else in Lubbock, including supposed "nicer" restaurants.
This is the place that Lubbock has needed for a long time, and it is finally catching on. So glad to see the crowds increasing. I hope they stay around a long while, and I hope more local places can take a page from what they are doing. This is the place to come if you are visiting Lubbock.
Wonderful. Lunch, Burger and Calamari 'steaks'. So wonderful. Here are the pictures that says it all. My husband is sure picky. That hamburger was perfectly cooked. They just need to work on the sauce. They need to kick it up somehow. We have been twice. Will be back. HAHA to the January 2014 review. Cheap, Mason Jars...ha. I did agree on the sauce. The small menu is good, this way they concentrate on the few items they prepare. It is a Good thing, get it! JAMES, give me an example of a Lubbock 'Premium" eatery.
Love this place! The menu changes a lot so there's something new to try every time I go in, and the staff is very nice and helpful. I've never had anything bad there; I recommend the pretzel with shiner bock mustard, and the banoffee pie!
I try to come here at least once a month the food is always great and the service is good too. The staff is very helpful in paring a craft beer with your meal, I recommend craft house to all my friends, defiantly a top ten restraint on Lubbock.
Very good dinner!. We hadn't eaten here in awhile, maybe a year. We decided to go back with another couple and had a really tasty dinner. Each of us tried something different and all of us were very happy. We had beef stroganoff, steak, half chicken and caulirice with salmon. The service was excellent, too.

For our second visit, we went with a larger group. Everyone ordered a different entree. We all thought our meals were unbelievably good and very original. We can't wait to go back and try something different. I had the salmon dish and it was unexpectedly spicy and fabulous. I am so tired of the typical restaurant chain menus. The Crafthouse is definitely worth a try. Most of the entrees were in the 15-20 dollar range at dinner.
Delicious innovative menu. I had the fried chicken stuffed with Mac and cheese at it was heavenly. Great service and cool vibe. Definitely two thumbs up!
Fresh and imaginative! Lubbock food has been bland and fast forever. Here is aplace that thinks about food and arent scared to try new things. Fresh food and pretty cool people! Can
Best restaurant in Lubbock! After living in San Francisco most restaurants here are just 'meh' but last night I had a fantastic pan-seared salmon dinner and the menu was filled with so many great choices it was a hard decision! Just need more chocolate on the dessert menu to make it perfect!
Fun and different. Although my wife and enjoyed and frequented the Home Cafe, we had not been to the re-incarnation. Having been provided a babysitter, we decided to stop by on a Saturday. Word to the wise: show up early! We were seated with no wait at 6p, but the place was packed by 6:45p.
The decor has changed for the better - cleaner and more comfortable. I started with a Breckenridge Vanilla Porter, which was excellent (even my non-beer-drinking wife liked it), and our old friends the mason jars showed up with iced tea.
Based on recommendations from this site, we started with deep-fried cheese and two bowls of sweet onion soup. Liked the former, didn't like the latter.
She ordered the glazed chicken, and I ordered the Texas burger. Her chicken was nicley-but-not-overdone sweet, and the mashed sweet potatoes were surprisingly good.
In the interest of full disclosure, I am a cheeseburder fiend. I love cheeseburgers, and have tried them all over the country. I write about cheeseburgers. I could testify in court as an expert on cheeseburgers. Folks - this is a damn good cheeseburger. Soft and perfectly baked bun (curing one of my main complaints about the Home Cafe); grilled; onions; smoky cheese; and a wonderful Shiner Bock mustard sauce. Order this - you will not be disappointed. I ordered it medium rare (save your lectures), and it was perfectly cooked. The twice-cooked fries were nothing special, but we enjoyed the homemade ketchup. As my wife descibed it, "this is what ketchup would be if it were an elitist snob" (I think that is a compliment).
Having enjoyed so much, we decided to over-extend ourselves and order dessert. She had the banofee (banana) cake and greatly enjoyed it - I had the sundae. If you had told me before how much I would like pretzel-flavored ice cream, and peanut brittle with chunks of bacon in it, I would have laughed at you. No joke - it was legit.
We can't wait to go back. The menu appeared to have something for everyone. The service was a bit slow on the refills, but sufficient otherwise. I really don't care anyway - the food made up for it, and if you're not there there for the food, well - why are you there?
All I can say is wow. I love the new place! The simple decor, the hip friendly staff, and especially the food! I am in love with the maple chicken and the sweet potato appetizer!!! The beer selection is amazing and my kids eat for 1/2 price on Tuesdays!
Great Concept. I'm still new to Lubbock and have gone to a modest amount of restaurants. Most have been the typical local joint or new-to-me chains. This place, though, was unique. Their menu is diverse and offers some great selections for carnivores, vegetarians, and the gluten-free crowd.
I ordered their Texas Sweet Onion Soup. It was delicious. The broth was rich with onion flavor which was perfectly complemented with onions, cheese, and the crouton. A cup was just the right portion before enjoying the entrée.
The main course was the 15oz New York Strip (topped with a Parsley Salad) with Bone Marrow Butter and Frites. I always order my steak at a medium-rare temperature; they nailed it. I couldn't help but gaze at the slowly-melting butter slide around the steak. It added a unique flavor to the strip - very enjoyable.
This should be one of those go-to restaurants for anyone in town or if you have guests from outta town. Check them out!
"Hands down the best!" I don't write reviews, but this place deserves the first! I have eatin at Home Cafe several times before conversion, but I have to say that Crafthouse us a step up in flavor, execution, and overall satisfaction. There is not anything that I have tried that did not find phenomenal! Best fish and chips I have ever had (toddler son went through two sides of tarter sauce with a spoon)! Burger is amazing especially with their homemade mustard! The dish I crave is the "All day breakfast!" Yes, I can eat it all day every day! They make their own sage sausage, maple cure their own bacon and served plenty with 3 eggs. I am surprised that there is not a line out the door! I can see how some would not like fine food, but everyone will love the Bonoufee pie! I dream of this dessert and I do not have a sweet tooth!! I want the owners to get more business but I am afraid if the word gets out, I will not be able to get a seat.
My new favorite place to eat in Lubbock... Everything we had was perfect and delicious I love everything about this place... The Brussel sprouts were outstanding I could eat them all day long!
We live in andrews and try to get to lubbock as often as we can. Had the great fortune to have eaten at home cafe only once, but once was enough! Could not wait to try it again! Then they closed to change directions with crafthouse (thank god for fb). Yesterday we finally got to try it and it was GLORIOUS! It was fairly empty at lunchtime on saturday (so ppl concerned about crowding and waiting for tables should give them a try at lunch) and we couldn't wait to peruse the menu. There were so many things that i wanted to try, but they would have to wait for our next trip as we will surely return. I had the grilled chicken sandwich that was amazing! They're fries are perfection! My husband had the fish and chips and gave his ONG face upon mist eery bite. We shared the milk and cookies for dessert, which also failed to disappoint. It so refreshing to see such an eclectic menu offered in west texas, aside from typical tex-mex or just another steak. On a side note, the music choice couldn't have been better, either. I was eating and dancing in my chair...two of my favorite things. We WILL be back. Oh yes, we WILL be back.
Just gets better and better!. Since Lubbock's much-loved Home Cafe was reincarnated as the Crafthouse Gastropub, the menu has been evolving steadily, and gets better and better. There's something to please everyone, and the devoted carnivores, vegetarians, and gluten-sensitive diners can all be happy campers. Tonight's dinner was fantastic - a new stuffed acorn squash entree was delicious, cooked to a perfect delicate texture and stuffed with caramelized onions and beautifully roasted cauliflower, brussel sprouts and baby portabello mushrooms. The husband thoroughly enjoyed the burger, with their signature delicious fries (and the sweet potato fries are BACK- hooray!) Add to that a mouth-watering new carrot cake dessert, a very good pinot noir, and the Left-Hand Milk Stout, which is one of the best dark beers I've tried outside of the Guinness you can get in Ireland. Can't wait to try some of the other new entrees on the menu--still our favorite restaurant in Lubbock. and one of our favorite restaurants anywhere (and we travel a lot).
Refreshing. I went there for lunch recently on a weekday. They have unique takes on popular items and always put their homemade spin to it (i.e. they may make their own buns, BBQ sauces, etc.) and isn't the "typical" bar food type joint (more variety of greens and vegetables, like quinio). They also have a great selection of beer (not just Shiner, Coors and Blue Moon) - Wicked Beaver beer from Woolforth, New Belgium and others. The decor is simple and modern, inviting and warm. Staff were pleasant and I have no complaints. Prices were slightly higher than a bar ($11-14), but you get back the quality that you pay for. I will definitely try their other items next time I'm back, hopefully for dinner.
Had the roast beef sandwich and it was amazing! Went in for lunch and the service was fast and great. Can't wait to go back for dinner and sample all the different beers. If you haven't been you must go!!
Good place. Very impressed with the menu and the overall concept of the restaurant. I had the lamb and it was very good, the only thing it lacked was salt. Our waitress need a bit of fine tuning but was good overall. I am ready to come back and try a beer sampler and the muscles.
Amazing! My husband and I enjoyed the steak and fries... The fries are my new addiction! The steak was tender and had great flavor. Really enjoyed the selection of beers as well... Not your typical Lubbock venue, nice to have a place to go to that knows how to do casual flair in good taste.
Good service excellent oysters on the 1/2 shell, Friends had wings sauce to bland, no vegetables on the burgers but good flavor. Beer flight good
Have been here twice first time had lunch while sampling beers. I had a Texas burger though I was reluctant to order a $15 cheeseburger. Hands down best burger I have ever had in my life. We stayed all afternoon sampling more beers and eating appetizers. Truly enjoyed the soft boiled fried eggs and some oysters. For dinner that night I tried the spaghetti squash. This was a new experience for me and truly enjoyed the flavor. Went back a week later and grab the fish sticks (planks of fish). Every time I visit Lubbock this is a must stop for me even if just for a beet or three.
Great place! Good food, drinks, service, and atmosphere. A bit pricey, but totally worth it.
I enjoyed eating at Crafthouse. The seating was a little confusing but the the stout chocolate cake with beet icing was amazing! also enjoyed the spaghetti squash plate. I will be returing!
Mmm!. Went there last week! Not a huge fan of the sit yourself layout, since some of the people waiting were crowding the poor people eating by the door. And we had to race to claim a table before it was even cleaned, because some people weren't going accordingly to when they got there. Our waitress was reallllly quiet, but she did excellent and made sure our drinks were never empty! We had the pork salad, which I absolutely loved, minus the bitter peanuts. My boyfriend had the lamb, which was sooo pretty and good and I had the Texas Burger, which I found absolutely delicious, though I had to take half of it home, because it was just so big! We had the blueberry tart and lemon sherbet which was amazing, the sherbet was already half way melted by the time I got it, but it was still good!
Overall, everything was pretty delicious, but no where near wallet happy for college students, it was $65 after tip! But it's great for a once a month delight! I'm actually taking my friends from out of town there tonight! :)
We love it. We have been here twice since they opened and this place has rocketed to the top of our favorite restaurants in Lubbock. So far we have had the Lamb, Spaghetti Squash, and the ridiculously awesome Texas Burger. Service has been great. Great selection of beers. We are looking forward to working our way through their entire menu.
So glad I tried it!!!!!. I was a Homecafe junkie and I don't really like change! My husband on the other hand couldn't wait to have a local gastropub! He went twice before I decided to give it a try and thank goodness he insisted that I give a try!!! We ordered the deep fried eggs to start, I think they r called Scotch Eggs, they were so yummy and the the presentation was beautiful! I ordered steak and frites and my husband order corn dog basket! My steak was perfect medium rare and the fries....yum!!! The corn dogs are so good I'm afraid the fair is going to loose money this year!!!!! They come with a shiner mustard that is wonderful!
I'm Really glad I gave it a chance....and I can't wait to try the breakfast all
Day next time! Would definitely recommend CRAFTHOUSE!!!
Different Menu for Lubbock. I have to admit I was so sad when Home Cafe closed but was looking forward to new options. Oh boy is the menu diverse. I have to admit that I am picky so many of those items I am not going to try but for those who love adventures, try the ceviche, pate, chicharrones, fried calf liver, oysters, and pickled veggies in a jar. I went for the mixed baby greens salad with salmon. The salmon was cooked to perfection with a nice crust and I loved the dressing. My husband had the calf liver with a sweet onion bread pudding. (The bread pudding was so good.)
Dessert we chose the milk and cookies. The cookie milk icecream was delicious and chocolate chip cookies were huge and warm. We came back the next day with some friends for drinks and had the blueberry tart with lemon sherbet. That sherbet was TANGY and so refreshing and the tart of course was great. I am a dessert person so I can't wait to try all the desserts and have heard their lunch menu is different so we want to go back for lunch soon.
They have several local beers on tap if you are tired of the same ole Bud Light.
Hit or miss on food, good beer. Will keep trying.. We have been a couple of times since they opened. Service was better the second time, but we sat at the bar& that could have helped. Table wait staff slow, they need someone to bus the tables and run the drink orders. The floor manager needs to help out more.
Good beer selection, cold glasses. There are a few items on the menu they need to work on with regards to flavor. The blue point oyster ps need work. I thought it would have been more of a shooter type, but the very liquidy sauce had no flavor. I was ready for some punch, but no. The shrimp with shells on are good, but again could use a little more flavor, not much after you take off the shell. The burger with the grilled onions is good, but the meat itself needs more seasoning. They overlooked my husbands salmon, but all of this was still during their first week. Hopefully they can work on it.
What we have like is the mixed greens salad, it has really good flavors. The curried lamb is outstanding, meat falls off the bone and not overly curried. I had the calf liver. The bread pudding that accompanies it really balances it out, but just needed more sauce on the liver. The blueberry buttermilk type tart is close to the buttermilk pie they use to offer when they were "Home Cafe".
There are a few things I would like to see, like some booths and the lighting is bright. Also I souls like them to offer sweet potato fries, the other fires are just okay, really need some salt on them. And I would like a basic thin margarita style pizza, like they use to offer. Always like a pizza & beer.
I hope they tweak their menu over time, work on service and seasonings. We will keep trying because there are some good food items and I would like to see Lubbock have a gastropoda concept restaurant.
Give it a try!
Opening Night Review. I am so excited that this little old town of almost 300,000 finally has restaurant, with a daring menu, that cares about both good food a craft beer. We showed up a little early to beat the opening day crowd. The Dinner menu isn't served until 6:00 pm, so we started out with some creatively comforting "bar bites". The malt vinegar and sea salt potato chips went well with a pint of Texas's own Real brown ale. The chips were close to salty/tangy perfection. The beer was a little hoppy for a brown, but the nut and caramel flavors of the malts balanced for a refreshing finish. After a local brewed Wicked Beaver cream weaver, we then tackled the Pickle jar, a mason jar filled with sandwich sliced cucumbers, pearl onions, baby carrots, and my favorite... okra. The assorted pickles were surprisingly sweet at first, but well balanced with the vinegar and the perfect amount of spice from peppers. (Jalapenos?) One of the only menus in Lubbock that offers a rotating charcuterie selection, for opening night the offering was a pork pate that, for me, missed on both texture and flavor. I due however, find the charcuterie to be the most intriguing item on the menu and look forward to the next selections of prepared and cured meats. Another “bar bite”, the grass fed beef jerky was a little dry, but well-seasoned with sea salt, rosemary and pink peppercorns. Next out was the curiously named (the server didn’t know either) “Bubble and Squeak” tots, which were cubed “tots” of seasonal root vegetables. This was a great take on a tried and true comfort food. A little mushy in the middle, they still put Sonic’s frozen potato tots to shame. Definitely a side I will try again!
One of my favorite item’s from the Crafthouse was the deep fried eggs. Reminiscent of “Scotch eggs”, this delectable appetizer consists of soft boiled, pastured eggs, deep fried in homemade bread crumbs and red chili sea salt. The crispy batter coupled with the perfectly jellied orange yolk was an overjoying homerun. We also tried a few entrees that were pleasing to say the least. The curry braised lamb shank came out wonderfully tender and paired well with the cilantro and mint gremolata. The 15oz New York Strip was equally tender and delicious, with the bone marrow butter being one of the highlights of the evening, -highly recommend. At this point although thoroughly stuffed, we could not pass up the “Milk and Cookies” dessert which consisted of cookie milk ice cream with fresh out of the oven chocolate chip cookies. Wow! I cannot describe how amazing this comfort food is, paired with a Left Hand Nitro Stout. If you go for anything, go for this dessert! The service was friendly and courteous although they seemed a little nervous with opening night jitters. Over-all a great experience, although there were a few things that could be improved upon I am thoroughly looking forward to our next visit.
Amazing service! Mia was our server and recommended one of their delicious Texas burgers. The bun was speechless, soft and a little crispy is how I like my bread. The beef cooked in medium well is perfect!
Matcha cheesecake had an amazing orange zest flavor. It didn't have enough matcha flavor as I expected, from a person like me is love's matcha. But, I'd definitely come back and order this again, it was just so good!!
Amazing food, and an always updated selection of good beer. Everything I've eaten here is amazing, fresh, creative, and filling. Cracker Jack chicharrones, fish and chips, great salads, and the Sunday brunch is excellent! My favorite restaurant, I visit every time I'm in Lubbock.
Crafthouse is one of my all-time favorite restaurants in Lubbock! We haven't been able to visit since February and we missed this place SO MUCH! Amazing food and drinks every time we go, as well as amazing staff.
We got the deep dish quice and their benny this time, as well as the elderflower mimosas. I also absolutely love their social distancing restrictions and the requirements, it makes me feel so much safer.
So happy that we were able to visit our favorite place for the first time in 6 months!

Good food! Huge selection of craft beer. Also mixed drinks and wine.
Server was very personable and attentive.
Clean restroom. TV’s showing sports throughout.
The atmosphere was great. I visited the location for Sunday brunch. The steak was somewhat thin and had to be cooked medium. That is the only reason for the missing star. I deffinatly recommend trying this place out, and I will be back during the week.
