I attended a private dinner party at fond and it was delicious. I thought I'd leave hungry because of the small course sizes, but I actually left the perfect amount of full. Not uncomfortable, just ready for a nap :)

Took my partner here for his birthday dinner after reading about Chef Madeleine Dee in the Louisville Local guide. I had never taken him to a 6 course meal curates by a chef and was so excited. The atmosphere: Was delightful. The restaurant sits in a small cute house with warm colors and lots of candles and low light on the inside. There are only 12 seats so it’s a nice intimate evening. The service: everything about the service was thoughtful. The server was always there to refill water, explain the food, answer any questions and was friendly while giving us space. The Chef came out a few times and was incredibly sweet. The food: I mean, out of this world only begins to describe the food! The 6 courses plus 2 dessert courses were each a nice addition of new flavors with thoughtful ingredients that built off of the last. It was perfectly portioned so you didn’t feel stuffed by the end. The dessert was warm caramel drink and an escargot Pastry with roasted pistachios and raspberries that was such a treat. Vegetarian note: my partner is vegetarian and I was excited to see that every course that featured meat had an equally exquisite vegetarian alternative that was always rich and full of flavor. Honestly, I may join him on the vegetarian trail next time it was such a treat. I honestly can’t wait to go back.

The chef is amazing and hopefully my new friend. The food is subtle, nuanced, well balanced, and a the flavors dance on one's palate. The presentation on most dishes is architectural and accented with colors that guide one's gaze across the plate. CALL AHEAD and get reservations, the chef only does a small seating a few nights a week and they are currently booked a month in advance. They had a last minute cancellation and snuck me in. It's BYOB, a decent wine shop is a few hundred feet away. The prix-fixe menu changes monthly. After spending some time talking to the chef, she is a FORCE. Her food is exquisitely her. She is constantly improving. She has the highest goals and I have high confidence she will achieve them. P.S. I rarely write reviews. I have eaten at top Chicago, New York, and San Fran restaurants. I'm not pretentious, but I love flavor, presentation, and people. This place has all three and more. I could write a book, or at least a screenplay about my epic experience, but instead I have highlighted the review worthy, because who wants to read a 5 paragraph essay.

My family and I went for New Years Eve and it was perfect. I love the atmosphere. It is very homey and with the limited seating, the room does not get loud. We were a table of 6 and it was extremely easy for us to talk and enjoy each other's company. The food was outstanding. The fried oyster was perfectly delicate. Fillet was on the menu the night we went. That was wonderful on its own, but then there was a lobster sauce that was just amazing. ...and that brownie with edible gold leaf..holy cow. I highly recommend the experience. Go and check it out!

I have been to nearly ever four and five star restaurant in the Louisville area. What makes Fond stand out is the "Love" that you feel with every meal. She makes you feel like you are family. When you eat with Chef Dee, it is like eating at the kitchen table at Grandma's. If grandma could cook like this. You not eaten at Fond, you are missing out on something very special.

There aren't many meals I dream about; and never have my wife and I discussed and fawned over a meal hours after we're finished, but last night we had the absolute pleasure of experiencing our Valentine's Day dinner at Fond. This dinner was indeed that: an experience. Chef Madeleine is a master of what she does - carefully preparing each plate, for each course, for each person; and hand delivering it - explaining its complexity with a radiant smile. It is difficult to find the words elegant enough to do it all justice - such descriptions are better left to poets - but I will do my best: Each bite of each dish was a delicious movement in a symphony of 7 courses from the most prestigious orchestral conductor that is Ms. Dee.

A hidden gem on Frankfort Ave. Food, presentation and atmosphere ate excellent. Watching Chef Madeleine lovingly prepare each plate brought such joy to my heart. The whole dining experience was wonderful, not to mention her food is delicious! Can't wait to go back!
