Review P.f. Chang's - Louisville

Kristin is the BEST server in this place period! It was a much better experience! I know there is new kitchen staff and it's going to be an adjustment period... do take note of this. She handled the food situation like the boss she is! Super friendly and connected- I think a lot of people take that approach for granted and they shouldn’t! But she really made it an enjoyable experience!!! Thanks doll!

Great experience! We had Mikayla and she was phenomenal. Very nice and welcoming. We loved her attitude and enjoyed her service! She was very informative and on the spot. Next time we pass through we are asking specifically for her. What a fabulous dining experience.
Makayla Walters
Me and my friends LOVED Mikayla and our overall service. She never let our drinks go empty and was quick but sociable. The food was also really good, even my friend who doesn't eat much Asian food thought it was good. Highly recommend!

Took a colleague from out of state to lunch here and we had an excellent experience. From our meals to the service, everything was 5 stars. Our server Stella went above and beyond to provide a quality experience for us.

We were seated right away on a Saturday night around 5pm. We ordered sweet and sour chicken along with sesame chicken and upgraded the white rice to fried rice. We also ordered veggie lo mein. All the vegetables that were in each dish were very fresh and crisp. Everything was very flavorful. Service was quick and attentive. Would highly recommend. *Should be noted, they have a drink menu you can have in hand but you scan a QR code for the food menu.*

Stopped by briefly while I was travelling interstate. Mikayla ways my server, and she did a phenomenal job throughout my quick meal. Everything else was very standard. Not great but not awful. Giving 5starts for amazing service.

From entrance to exit probably the best service all the way around. The food is amazing I would also recommend this for the vegans out there as well. Excellent Excellent Excellent! This is a well oiled machine! 1000% recommend eating here. Great for a date night

Ate dinner here last Thursday with my daughter, we had crispy green beans, I had the Mongolian Beef and my daughter had the lo mein with chicken, our server, Shane was amazing! He brought my daughter a little bowl of fruit while we were waiting for our appetizer after he let us know the kitchen was a little busy, he was very knowledgeable about the menu, we also had the banana spring rolls for dessert! Everything was delicious! And I will definitely be coming back again!

This was our first time at this location and WOW the food was excellent and the service was even better. Kendall was our server and she was friendly, patient and helpful...everything you could want in a server. We had an excellent time and can't wait to go back again.

Brian is superior! Best server I have ever had. Makes your dining an experience. Please ask for him & have a blessed meal with Brian as we just had. Take time to enjoy the finer things in life. Food is important and so is good service. Thank you Brian & we will see you soon.

Went there on my birthday and I enjoyed the food. I had the crispy honey chicken with lo mein and it was very flavorful. I also enjoyed the dynamite shrimp and the birthday dessert from the nice waitress. I don't remember her name but she was very nice.

Called In to place an order, but employee said you can only place To-go orders online...so...Placed order online. It was ready when I drove up. You have to pick up to-go orders on the back, on the far right. There wasn't anyone standing at the greeters table when I came in so I went to the bar, the employee said I was in the wrong area and to go back out in the main lobby, but since no one was there, I went to the restroom, upon leaving the restroom I saw an employee in the corner working on the register, so I asked him, he said it's in the very far right of the building..so you have to walk past several tables in the dining area, and there was a small area in the back with the orders on the shelf. The food looked good and fresh, the cartons for the fried rice were barely half full. Would probably like to stop by and dine -in next time.

Good food that is over Americanized Chinese. The portions are very large and served family style. My order came out slightly over cooked and the server immediately sent it back to the kitchen. A manager then came out and let us know that she was taking care of it. The service is probably the best I have ever seen during lunch hours anywhere.

Used to be a weekly lunch spot with friends when I lived in rhe Nashville area!! Now back in Indiana, I've taken my girlfriend a few times. She new to PFC and loves it!!!!

One of my favorite restaurants of all time! I always get the lettuce wraps, they are my favorite thing on the menu! 😋 I also highly recommend the vegetarian options (they do a great job with tofu), prawn entrees, and noodles. 🍤🍜🥢 great cocktails 🍸 and atmosphere too. Happy hour is 3-6 m-f. The sushi is not the best in my opinion, but I love everything else I have tried there! I do wish they would bring back the sauce trio they used to serve w your meal. Delicious and upscale varieties of Japanese, Thai, Korean, and Chinese cuisine - love this place ❤️
Kris Konick
I love this place. I try to always get there on my birthday and other special occasions as the atmosphere is SUCH the perfect combination of welcoming and authentic and super chill. The food is over the top good. I’ve never had a bad experience no matter how busy it may be which speaks most of all to the degree of excellence in consistency. It’s hard to top P.F. Chang’s for the every day and the super special!! Thank you!!
Duane Steward
Love their food and always get more for your money than most other Restaurants! We are always treated good with fast service! Our server and manager was very helpful of our needs. Would always recommend P.F. Chang's in Louisville, Ky.
Martina Sanders
I usually love this place but today the service was not up to my standards!!!! First off we ordered a appetizer and sat and waited for about 15 min which was fine. The person with our food comes with our entrees and not our appetizer so we were like um we have not had our appetizer yet, so he apologized and said he would check with our server. So she comes to the table apologized and asked if we still wanted it or have it removed from our bill and we asked to just have it removed!!! Well a few min later a server comes with our appetizer and we informed him we had it removed, well he then goes to the table seated close to us and ask if they would like the appetizer because they had a extra one!!!! Really!!! Who in the hell does that!!!! Very rude!! This should not have even come out to us and we should have never heard the other server offer the appetizer to another table
Amy Tilly Biddle
We had to wait awhile for our food but the food was delicious. Love that they have a gluten free menu that includes a gluten free dessert.
Lisa Miller Kermicle
Love everything about this place!! From the waiter, to the atmosphere, the lettace wraps and Mongolian beef and pork egg rolls are the best!!!!
Stephanie Mahaffy Partlo
I love this place but will think twice about wasting our time there again! Got right in sat at our table and waited for anyone of the wait staff to acknowledge us after 3 different waiters walked by us 6 times each waiter and completely ignored us! And, almost 15 mins. Later We got up and walked out!
Drew Hart
2 1/2 hours from the time we sat down, finally had a server(which was horrible) then waited on drinks, waited forever to get refills, waited forever just to take our order, messed up our food and the bill!!! We have loved going here for years but now the place has went really down hill and can care less about there customers!!
Billy Joe Douglas
Our dinner was excellent and the service was outstanding. We had enough food left over to take home for our lunch. Highly recommend this restaurant and location.
Manjiri Menezes
Our server kept making excuses for almost everything, blaming others from the greeter, kitchen staff, etc. Got 2 out of 4 entree orders wrong. Was sadly very disappointed.
Janis Slucher Allspaw
Went for my birthday and everything was excellent! Our server (Jin) was very friendly and attentive and the food was great!
Cori Briar
I really enjoyed honey shrimp and the chocolate lava cake is fantastic. I didn't really like the rice which was kind of dry. Otherwise it was great.
Antwan Venice
It had been a while since i been, the gold bull out front was gone which shocked me lol. To Be honest i loved the atmosphere, service was great and the portions of food where more then i thought. I will say that i will return
Alice Sheehan
The drinks, the sushi, the lo mein, the lobster/shrimp/filet bowl (surf n turf)were all amazing. Ditto the staff!! Thanks y'all!
Jeannette Stephens
The atmosphere is relaxing, the staff is inviting, the meal was fabulous and the company was amazing, celebrating my daughters Tanya & Nene, my son Dero' Birthdays. I wish them many years of blessings.
Lewis Barrett Jr.
Excellent food. Server was SLOW The food was as wonderful as usual. I think the server had too many tables.

Service has always been good here but the food somewhat hit-or-miss. This may have to do with what I have ordered though. The lettuce wraps are a favorite go-to for me and I'd like to try their Pad Thai, but the other dishes have seemed just adequate and do not justify the steep prices.
Carmela
Chinese food served in a restaurant with a western vibe is quite an unusual feel -- but this is how I felt coming into PF Chang's for the first time. Not having a branch where I come from, my first visit here was interesting. Ambiance was relaxing and the music wasn't too loud (which I like). Our server was probably new since we had to remind him to bring us this and that a couple of times. My brother ordered the Korean BBQ Chicken Stir-Fry. He asked that the chicken be steamed however; it was more like they velvetted the chicken before stir-frying it. My sister-in-law ordered Buddha's Feast and opted that it be steamed too. It came out steamed indeed but it had no flavours -- not even salted or served with some sort of sauce. We had to ask that some sauce be served on the side which they did. Just wondered if we didn't ask for sauce, would have it just been served plainly steamed? We could have done the same at home...

The Chicken Lettuce Wraps I had as an appetizer was not as sumptuous as lettuce wraps I've had a couple times at Chilli's. In fact, I found it a little on the salty side. Also, PF Chang's uses iceberg lettuce -- a bit on the ordinary side vs. Chilli's wraps that use butterhead lettuce... For my entree, I ordered Pad Thai. You'd be surprised but I was blown away by the Pad Thai served at PF Chang's! I have had many Pad Thais over the years and I can say, PF Chang's ties with the best I've had (the one to beat for me would Pad Thai served at Syphay Restaurant in Edmonton, AB). PF Chang's Pad Thai tasted smokey with the right balance of tamarind and fish sauce flavours. The shrimp was cooked to perfection and tasted very much like roasted pork belly (lechon kawali)... Yummm!

Downside was the washroom -- it was dirty and floor was sticky. Aside from this though, I would return here and try other things on the menu for sure.
Katerrrrrs
Sometimes a wait, but always great service. The coconut curry vegetables with tofu are almost as delicious as the vegetarian lettuce wraps. Beware vegetarians: once you try the vegetarian lettuce wraps here, any future lettuce wraps are ruined--absolutely second to none!!!!
Jww
Never a let down when I visit this fine dining Chinese Bistro! Chang's spicy chicken is my GO-TO but I haven't ever had a bad entree. The Calamari is fantastic- cocktails are fresh but a little pricey!

Always good! Always fresh! Sarah D was a fabulous server!! Good recommendations. Friendly service!!

No management. We went in for a late lunch. There were only a handful of tables. It took a while for our waiter to get to us. He was training a new waitress, not very well. The dynamite shrimp were over cooked, we struggled to cut with a fork. Singapore noodles were a bit under cooked and lacked protein. The beef in the Mongolian dish was very chewy. Not once did out server ask if our food was ok or if we needed anything. We won't be going back for a while if ever.

I ordered take out tonight at 8:25. They told me it would be ready between 8:55-9:00. I got to the pick-up counter for take out orders at 9:00 in the dot. There I was greeted by a sign saying to pick up take out orders at the bar! I had my 7-yr-old granddaughter with me & didn't appreciate having to walk across the full length of the restaurant and into a bar with her in tow. Once we got to the bar I asked a waiter for my order. He told me to go to the bar itself and the bartender would help me. There were three workers behind the bar. One was making drinks. Two were standing at the register screen talking about there being too many people working in the bar. None paid attention to me. When I got one girl's attention she said she'd go check on my order. Five minutes later she returned with food for a couple seated at the bar. She served them, got some drinks, did other things and after several minutes, handed me a bill for my food. It took another full five minutes to get the bill paid. Then she says she is going to go check on my order! It's now almost 9:20. I did not appreciate the wait or having to be in the bar. Then we finally get home with our order only to find part of it incomplete and the Chang's ribs were BURNT! Very disappointing.
Cynthia Coomes
YUCK. This food tasted like garlic water and lemon. Everything was flavorless and terrible.
On top of that, our server could not figure out how to use a gift card, a debit card and break a $20.
Bailey
Ordered beef broccoli, got a bottle of soy sauce with some rubber beef and rubber broccoli. Liked the brown rice. The 2 glasses of wine and the service was good. Price: 32.45. Too much. Should have been fresh and creative for that price.
Jason R
The food isn't bad, I liked it, but it is over priced. You can get just as good food (if not better) at a good traditional hole in the wall Chinese take out for less money (and you get more food). It does have a nice atmosphere, but there are better nice atmosphere date options.
Ned Ryerson
So overrated, so over priced...I just don't get the appeal. The food is decent, but Oriental House on Shelbyville Rd. is just so much better. Heck, China One on Lyndon Ln. is better. Their spare ribs are better than most Chinese takeout places, however. Everything else...meh.
Quogue49
Everything was fine; it was our first time 4-20-13 and we had reservation. We were seated immediately, the server was very friendly and kept checking on us. Food was nice, not to die for, but reasonably good.
Kybushdr
Disneyworld on the inside and just like the theme park, food is average and really expensive
David Harlan
Dismissed!. Had reservations for 7:00 Friday night. Arrived on time only to wait 45 minutes. Several other couples were complained as well as they were waiting even longer. No room to sit in the bar, people crowding around the check in station. The girls at the check in counter acted like they were doing us a favor allowing us to be fortunate to be there. We left after nearly an hour wait. There are too many options in town to be dissed like that. The food there is not worth the wait. I will not be back.

Honest perspective from a PF Chang's server. I worked at PF Chang's, Louisville for a couple of years before leaving (on good terms) to start my new post-grad job. I will be very honest about the restaurant I worked at in hopes that it will help you make an informed decision on whether or not to eat there.

Our core values are Food, Service, Atmosphere, and Value.

Our food is always prepared fresh by trained Chefs that have been to culinary school. I've read the reviews and some people complain about the food being very similar to typical Asian buffet but more expensive. Opinions vary on the flavor, but if you don't want an 888 Great Wall experience, then try something other than Sweet and Sour Pork or Chicken Fried Rice. In my opinion, both of those dishes are delicious but we have more unique foods to offer, like our Dan Dan Noodles or our Pepper Steak (I personally eat those frequently). If you don't want to stray too far from your Asian cuisine comfort zone, go with the items that made us very popular; the Chicken Lettuce Wraps (also available in Vegetarian) and the Chang's Spicy Chicken (comparable to General Tso's).
Food portions are rather large. Most of my customers went home with left overs, particularly if they got the Fried Rice or Lo mein dishes. Lunch portions are just enough to fill you up with no left overs to take back to the office.
We cater to people with food allergies VERY WELL, particularly Gluten allergies. And we have a decent variety of vegetarian foods. We can substitute proteins and make many more dishes vegetarian, or add extra vegetables that you want.

Service will always vary depending on the staff. Much of our staff has been working there for years and are not only well educated on our menu, but are also happy to help you pick out your food based on your flavor and protein preferences. A lot of people seemed to have gotten upset with their server for wait times on food, please take note of how your server handles it because it's typically not their fault if the food is slow, but it is their fault if you still leave unhappy or unsatisfied. If you do not like your food flavor or quality don't be afraid to let your server know. We don't have any problems remaking food to your preferences, remember you pay our bills -- but only if we keep you happy.

As far as I've read, not many people hate our atmosphere. I admit, I was impressed with the swank styling when I first applied to PF Chang's. I thought it was very cool and hip. Our music varies, and can occasionally be too loud. Please notify your server if it is, occasionally (but not always - as music volume is controlled by one knob) we can turn it down for you. It does get very loud and crowded on the weekends and you may have to wait up to 3 hours (during peak seasons, August - March). But! We take reservations and call ahead seating! Just show up on time and you'll have your table with very little to no wait at all.

Admittedly, our food is rather expensive. But no more expensive than what you would pay at any other restaurant. Food prices range from $4-10 appetizers, $8-25 entrees, and $3-7 deserts. As I've stated before, from what I've seen the majority of people that complain about the value are getting $8 bowls of Chicken Fried Rice or $13 plates of Sweet and Sour pork. If you don't like these prices, we have happy our from 3-6pm Monday-Friday, where you can get a couple extra dollars off of drinks and appetizers and our lunch bowls (which now feature almost every entree on the menu) are $10 or less. Plus we have promotions going on all of the time where you can get $10 off of your meal or a free appetizer. We also offer frequent customer cards, called Warrior Cards, that accumulate points so you can get 10% off or a free appetizer or desert.

Well! I hope that was helpful! Please note that I was very happy working there (well, about as happy as one can be working in the service industry, haha). The staff was friendly and professional to both our customers and our coworkers and I made a lot of friends. It was easily the best restaurant I've ever worked in (and I've worked in 4 of them, including Red Lobster on Breckenridge, Applebee's on Hurstbourne and an O'Charley's and a Cheesecake factory in Ohio). And I will eat there frequently with my new coworkers.

Neither this, nor that.. Let me start out with, no, this is not Chinese food. But neither are most Chinese restaurants in the area. They are Chinese American food. But P. F. Chang's really isn't even that kind of food. I'd call P. F. Chang's Asian fusion, or Pacific Rim Tapas. It's a bit of this and a bit of that. All that said, when they are firing on all cylinders, the food is GREAT. But, like a lot of chains in this ecological niche, they are a bit of uneven. Service is usually good, but sometimes terrible. The same dish ordered on two different occasions will sometimes be very different in taste. And I don't mean at different locations, I mean at the same location.

These things said, I think that P. F. Chang's is generally very good at small plates. For example the pot stickers are way better than you are going to get most places. My wife and I like to go for happy hour, have a glass of wine and a table full of appetizers. And during happy hour, selected drinks and appetizers are reduced in price.

The decor is dark and vaguely oriental. The noise and music are not so loud you can't talk to people at your own table. And the food is more likely to be good, than not. If you are looking for a slightly upscale Asian dinning experience, this is a good bet. But not a sure bet.
Blairzpooh93
It's ok. I like this place, the food is alright. However, last time I went there the server seemed angry. We hardly saw him and when we did he just seemed like he didn't want to deal with us. Not trying to be comical but I honestly felt like he was mad at my boyfriend and I for coming there on a date. Also, it is way too over priced. It's good but honestly do you know how many places are popping up all over town that I could take my money to instead?
David
Joke of a restaurant!!!. This place is a total joke!!! I cannot believe that people pay good money for this joke of a place that serves such small portions with little taste! I had no more than less than a half a piece of chicken with a pile of heavily sauced lettuce and other limp vegetables!!! The chicken fried rice was half fried and half white rice with 5 tiny pieces of chicken!!! If you eat at this horrible place you will waste your money and leave starving to death!!! As a previous person said, go to Oriental House to have some really good food!!!
Kimmi
I like this place food is always good and so is the service.
Jenny L
I like it!. I read the reviews below before starting mine and I agree with many and laughed at some. It is true, you will wait for a table many times but a few times I was seated right away. I too had an experience with a horrible child at the next table and the parents did NOTHING and it did ruin my lunch but that is bad parenting, not a bad restaurant. I also agree that I would prefer to not eat at a chain but with all that, I love P.F. Changs. I have never had a bad meal there and look forward to my next one.
Bill R
Ok lets face it, P.F. Chang's is a chain restaurant that provides decent food and service most all the time. Especially like the soups. Cannot be compared to a real authentic chinese restaurant. Always know what to expect.
Barry Porter
Go to oriental house instead...I've never seen a Chinese person at P.F but at oriental house its wall to wall Chinese customers so they must be doing something right
M. M. Love
I've been here since 6:45 & I'm still waiting to be seated, 8:24 pm

This is it? Really?. I have heard so many good things about this restaurant. My facebook friends are always checking in there. I have discovered that popularity does not equal quality.
My husband stopped by for lunch one weekday, and the restaurant was a little busy, but we were seated right away. There were two women seated at a booth near us, and both of them had screaming babies. All through the meal, we were treated to this aural delight. Scream, scream scream. And neither mommy gave a crap. We're at lunch! We don't have to parent. Who cares if we're bothering the other customers?
My husband and I ordered the crab wontons to share. I think there were four of them for about $9. The filling was less than delicious- the crab was gray and rather bland. There was a carrot and cucumber slaw served as a garnish, and that was honestly the best thing on the plate.
I ordered the honey chicken with white rice, and my husband got some seafood with lobster sauce and brown rice. My honey chicken tasted EXACTLY like that served at any mall food court in America, but with more sauce. I didn't try my husband's food but he said it was "fine". He usually shows his enthusiasm for food he likes, and we just munched our way through this boring meal with no conversation. There was nothing to talk about- we certainly couldn't discuss the food, as it was overwhelmingly mediocre, and we couldn't have heard each other if we had decided to talk, thanks to the shrieking baby choir.
All in all this lunch cost me more than $40, which was just atrocious. People are paying for a brand name and an "atmosphere"- it has to be better at night because we really couldn't wait to get out of there. Our server seemed a little afraid of us, too. She shyly explained the dipping sauces and avoided our table as much as possible. When she spoke, it was barely above a whisper. I wouldn't come close to calling her friendly.
I couldn't recommend this restaurant to anyone. Surely there is more authentic, better tasting, and better quality Chinese food out there in Louisville. I am just stunned now when my friends rave about this place. I really can't see the appeal, and I absolutely love trying new food and international flavors.
Gloria McCubbins
Upscale Chinese. One of my husbands favorites! Love the booth sitting! Tables are to close together but not uncomfortable. The food is of course delicious.
Maeg
3-6pm Happy Hour-. Great prices, no wait, and yummy choices! Get a sweet iced tea and enjoy!
Foodfanatic
Too noisy to enjoy a meal. Everytime I go it is extremely noisy, no matter where we sit. One time I came home horse after spending the evening yelling at my friend across the table so she could hear me. Not a very enjoyable dining experience. After several tries, won't be back.
Mick
Not Chinese..... If you are tired of the slop that is in most Chinese restaurants then you will be refreshed by what Chinese food can be. I have not been to a PF Chang's where I was not completely satisfied with either the service or the food. I'll admit you do wait longer than some places, but it is fine dining and to me it is expected. The atmosphere is nice for socializing. I have tried many apps and several entrees and I have yet to be disappointed. If you are like me a bottle of San Pellegrino really hits the spot with the dishes. I definitely recommend PF Chang's to almost anyone who likes fine dining and who especially is disappointed with the typical Chinese cuisine.
TMac
Listen to your waitress. We don't come here often because I'm not a huge patron of chain restaurants. The other day we just happened to be in the area and decided to stop by. I generally stick to the "classics" at a chinese restaurant, but was looking for something a little different this time and asked my waitress for a suggestion. Try the dan dan noodles - I'm never going back to sweet & sour chicken!
Zoe101
I will never go back don't ask y
Josh Raley
Can't wait to go back!. Good food. Good atmosphere and good service. I really like this place. We got the lettuce wraps and lo mein and Chang's chicken. All were great. Egg rolls are good too. Not cheap, but not too expensive either.
Chaz
2 Free meals and I still will never return. My wife and I just tried to use a PF Chang's gift card for lunch. We got there about 11:45 am and the place was only about 5% full.

We had an appitizer and our soup course which comes with lunch and then we waited, and waited, and waited for our entrees. After about 20 minutes our waiter came by the table and said our food woulld be "right up."

After 10 more minutes I tried to get our waiter's attention and was ignored (he was only two tables away.) 10 minues later and our waiter has never returned and a manager shows up at our table. I told her we were leaving and we wanted our check for the drinks, appitizer and soup.

She was very apologetic said our food was ready. I told her we didn't want it and to bring our check. She comes back 10 minutes later with our food bagged and told us it was all comped.

I love chinese food and what we got of their was good but damn!; good service is not rocket science. PF Chang's needs to spend less time on pretention and more on the basics of good service.

I gave the gift card to my wife to give away or use with someone, anyone, else. I will never return.
Vicki Harris
Terrible Service. The food is good, but not excellent, and the service is always terrible. The last few times that I have been in P.F. Chang's in Louisville I have had a bad experience with service. The servers always seem to be mingling with other employees, and one time our server was waiting on her friends and spent all of her time at their table. I went in last week by myself and sat there for twenty minutes after ordering and never got a drink or anything. I told the hostess I was leaving and I went to Carraba's , much better choice.
Nathan Riggs
Very good chineese restaraunt at aforeable prices

Awesome Chinese bistro with a great atmosphere. I love their chocolate cake with raspberry sauce! It's a real treat!
Kaitlin
I love this restaurant!!! It's my favorite. It's a little pricy but definately worth it. I'd reccomend changs chicken and the lettuce wraps!!!
Mark A Adams
This is one of our favorite date night spots as well as an enjoyable experience with the family. The staff Is extemely friendly, and they have a good understanding of how to handle food allergies, i.e. separately identified plates for those with special circumstances. The food is excellent, and I recommend ordering different dishes and eating family style to sample the various menu items.
Barrett
Chinese sounds good.
