The best beer/restaurant experience in Louisville hands down. From service to a fantastic menu, to killer beer. Please come hang out.
Great beer, great food and great service! I really appreciate that Monnik keeps the prices for a quality pint affordable. I enjoyed the Mild George and my husband found a new favorite in the Dark Materials. The Pub Chicken Curry was so delicious, I licked my plate~no shame! Cory was an excellent bartender~knowledgeable and attentive without being overbearing. In fact, we probably chatted him up longer than we should have:) We'll definitely be back to try the vegetarian shephard's pie, more great beer and the reuban but probably not soon enough.
Nice variety of beer, something for every taste. The burger was excellent and, the German chocolate pie is to die for. Great service and a relaxed atmosphere. Well worth the drive from outside of louisville.
I can't recall how many George Fashioneds I had, lol. But every single one was perfectly crafted. Our waitress Carmella was awesome. I picked this place because it seemed like the perfect place to sit outside on an October eve and laugh with dear friends. Highly recommend the smorgasbord!! Who knew spelt was so delish!
I'm a big beer nerd and Monnik never fails to impress. Amazing beers and always something new/unique to try! Five star food and always exceptional service!
Have been in a few times for lunch and a few beers. They always have a nice selection of their own beers (the IPA was really good) and a few solid guest drafts. Most recently, I had the vegetable shepherd's pie, and it was outstanding. It was topped with sweet potato mash that resembled somewhat of a soufflé. Let me just say, I usually do not like sweet potatoes too much, but took a risk and was delighted. The different flavors and textures from the mushrooms, lentils, and sweet potatoes really came together as one. There was a nice brothy herb flavor that kept me coming back for more. Overall, it has been a nice, relaxing atmosphere with good service, beer and food. I remember coming here around when it first opened and getting to try the barrel aged his dark materials and I knew they were on to something. I hope they age that beer again in the near future. If you are looking for a relaxed place where you can have a beer and a delicious bite to eat, look no further.

My first visit but I will definitely return. Good beer and food and I love the atmosphere. The patio is great too! Nice, friendly people and fast service!!!
Great place to relax, good beer and good food. Plenty of choices on the beer side. Great wait staff, very attentive to your every need!
Our waitress Carmella was fantastic and made our first visit to Monnik so much fun! Great beer, cocktails and atmosphere. We can’t wait to return to try the food.
Had a pint of Eagle Skull at the Murcury Ballroom last night. It is definitely one of the best beers I've ever had, so I had a few more. 🍺😎👍 ¡Cheers, Prost, Salud, and Slainté!

Beer is some of the best brewed in Louisville. Food is incredible, especially the homemade bread & beer cheese! A most to visit!
Great beer, great food and the staff is knowledgeable of the products they serve.
Great food, and a variety of awesome beers! Best beer cheese in town! We love the atmosphere, and the staff is always welcoming. Doesn't hurt that Monnik is down the street from my favorite high school football stadium!
A very nice place. Their vegetable shepherd's pie is outstanding!! They do not sell domestic beers (which is great) and have a great selection of their own and guest beers.
The only negative comment I have is, we sat outside on the patio and the flies were horrible. I know it is August in Kentucky, maybe something can be done about that. Regardless i will be back!
This is one of my favorite breweries in Louisville. In addition to the great beer, the bread and beer cheese is phenomenal.
Not what I expected. Beer selection was great, the food was very eclectic but also very good. The cheese dip was fabulous and the burgers almost too big to eat without dismantling them!! Now I wasn't the biggest fan of the homemade variations of condiments, but they weren't bad.
Visited for the first time with a friend and we sampled three beers in their 5 ounce pour. I tried hard to find a drinkable (i.e., non-hoppy, fruity) beer and, with the waitress' help, settled on the King George. The beer cheese appetizer was very good--great bread. I did not care as much for the burger, which came well done when I ordered medium. Even with the bleu cheese and purple cabbage, it didn't have much taste. The fries were very nice though. Check's Café was slammed across the street but this place was pretty much empty. I hope they make it.
Food was of good quality, although options were limited. This place seems to be a spinoff of crescent hill craft house. The beer selection and beer cocktails are great. You have to try the spicy beer cocktail.
Great neighborhood bar with food and beer to match. Check them out. They're going to be an awesome addition to our neighborhood and I hope to see them last for a very long time to come.
Best treasure in Kentucky!
Great beer; i especially like the Najaar,
great food; had the Sauerbraten with the red cabbage !! wow! And those Spicy Pecans were the best!
Great atmosphere!
Worth the trip from Toronto!
Definitely coming back when I'm in Louisville!
So Good!
I've been hearing about this place ever since it opened! It was as good as I was told. The layout was like an old soda pop shop but with beer! Who wouldn't love that! The outside patio was spacious and hip with the destress wood wall and lights stung above you. This would be a great late night drinking hang out. The food was great! We had the Dutch burger and Bier burger (added bacon.. Best way to go). The combustion of ingredients were superb. This is a definite must go restaurant!
First visit Saturday evening. Patently one of the best burgers around including Mussel & Burger Bar, and for the quality, very reasonable.Their beer competes with crafters in and around Lou. Parking is a challenge, but no worse than Hammerheads or Holy Grale. Definitely worth the visit.
This place has great beer, food, and service. I can't believe how low the rating is for Monnik. The couple of times I've been there the place has had too many suburbanites that can't parallel park and are probably just chasing the latest restaurants. The people rating this place lowly can't even submit a review. It's a limited menu, but if you like good food and beer you should check it out.
Very big fan. Good beer great food only bad is parking. Beer cheese is great so are all three topped fries. Tried a few beers made by Monnik havent been disappointed yet. Their guest beers are excellent choices as well. Hopefully this place sticks around
This place is fabulous and the brews delicious! Every soup I've tried tastes great and the beer cheese is phenomenal. The prices are very reasonable. Highly recommended!
could not have asked for a more seamless or phenomenal experience than we had at monnik tonight. weeks ago, i reached out to stephen qualls to plan a proposal and engagement party in the restaurant and he and the team at monnik absolutely went above and beyond to deliver. they were incredibly accommodating to make the night special, provided exceptional service, and the food and drinks were absolutely delicious on top of everything. monnik was already a staple for us, but we are beyond impressed and grateful for the perfect evening stephen and the monnik team helped put together for us tonight.
We stopped by on a busy weekend where they were also participating in the flea market event that was going on outside. The place was pretty busy. I was able to quickly order my drink and had it in a to-go cup since we were walking outside. The old fashioned was petty good, even for being served in a plastic cup.
This restaurant was recommended to us by a guide we had for a historic house tour and we are so glad she did. The old building was originally a bakery, it is a lovely cozy spot. The service was impeccable and the food delicious. My husband had the house cured pastrami Rueben and I had the Cesar salad with the fried couscous on top, the best Cesar salad ever. The IPA is not to be missed, and what I really liked was that they also serve small 5oz glasses of beer, that way you can taste without getting legless at lunch.
If you get directions, for some reason it had me across the street at the barbershop. Just a heads up, turn around and the location is right behind you! The overall service was nice good, and the food was better than expected for a local brewery. Food portions were very healthy, and the waitress was able to give good recommendations of beers based on personal tastes!
Amazing food! Beer is great as well, such a chill atmosphere, I could sit here all day!
A fabulous spot in a really hip neighborhood. Beer is good - more English and Belgian styles. Bartenders are all great and recommended other spots. Highly recommend!! Guymon took care of us and was FABULOUS!
Very nice, unique beers with equally unique names. Very fairly priced glassware and other merch. Comfortable seating and several excellent food items on menu
Nice neighborhood pub. Very eclectic. Menu is limited and it seems you can make a decent meal from the appetizers. The beer selection is limited as compared to some other places but what they have is delicious.
The IPA and the English ale were well balanced. The list is in the pictures. They also have beer cocktails which was the first for me.
The beer cheese was delicious and fairly large portion for couple of people. Ate most of it.
I ordered the pub style chicken curry which was mild, had peas and was served over fries. Little too salty for me but all in all good entree. The fresh herb corn salad was served chilled and is a party in your mouth.
Definitely a must try place.
What a great place we stumbled upon. In town for a couple of music festivals. This place has great beer food and most importantly the staff was second to none. Our bartender made recommendations for other places to eat and drink during our stay because we love to support local places. Must visit
My first time in Louisville on a business trip, a warm welcoming neighborhood atmosphere brewery with an easy to find location. They offer an excellent variety of beer choices, which includes seasonal varieties, the service was excellent and friendly. The food is great,I would definitely come back again, I highly recommend them
I totally love this place because of the theme inside the restaurant. Also it is in Germantown which my family is part of German heritage. The beers are fabulous. I would love to go back again to drink more beers and also try their foods.
This is becoming my favorite spot to eat lunch or dinner. Their food are so delicious. And I always enjoyed their beers too.
Always love this place again! Best beers and food!
Nice place. Just not for me. Staff was friendly and place was clean. I made the mistake and ordered pickles thinking they were going to be pickles not pickled watermelon. The menu did say market vegetables for the pickles, and watermelon is a fruit. Nachos were okay, but not for my pallet. Items were fresh. Could have had a bit more pork though.
Great reuben sandwich and beer!!!
Very friendly staff, comfortable atmosphere.

Wonderful service and food was tasty. I got the local burger and my wife got the classic burger, both were tasty and good. We also order the pub pretzel and fried smelt and they were also tasty. They make very good drinks too. Old fashioned and Louisville Swill were very good. Look forward to coming back when we visit Louisville again!
I’m not a beer drinker but when I drove past this restaurant, I just knew I had to stop. This place had great atmosphere, great service, and most importantly great food. I happen to be vegetarian so sometimes I feel very limited in menu choices. Here- I had plenty of options and the food did NOT disappoint. My compliments to the chef and my server. It’s one of the best meals I’ve had all year!
Monnik is a hidden gem of fine but not fancy dining- extremely authentic German spot with great menu offering and, of course, craft beer selection. I recently came back for another try and am very impressed to see that they still maintain authentic German offerings but also added more “basic” (but still well done) options to appeal to those who aren’t very adventurous. They have a plethora of interesting menu items and probably one of the best craft cocktail menus in town... they’re unique and delicious - highly recommend the “Watch Out for the Hole.” Their Lamb toast and mushroom butter with house made bread was absolutely incredible.
LJ was our server and she was the absolute best. Great knowledge of the food and beer menu. She described things so well. I love their variety of food options and I have never been unhappy with my meal. The jackfruit is so good here. Even if you aren’t vegan or anything it tastes so good. I’m not vegan or vegetarian or anything else but I like to increase my plant based meals. So this is a great place to do that. The beer is great too! I love the Italian disco!
Great beer and great food. They have opened up a lot of outdoor seating for covid and has only made going here better. The beers rotate often so it is easy to sink into being a regular. The food is fantastic but everything is a little different than you were expecting. This isn't a bad thing just something to keep in mind. You'll love whatever you end up ordering!
