Review Seviche A Latin Restaurant - Louisville

Caroline Pham
By far one of my favorite restaurants in Louisville. I’ve dined here with my boyfriend several times & each visit never fails us. The food is just spectacular & all of the flavorings are just divine. Their specials menu is always something to look forward to b/c the chef truly nails it every time! The hospitality & service cannot be beat! Lane is the best & will take the best care of you /or your party! Ask for her for all of your Seviche visits :)

Brought my brother here for his first fine dining experience. Chef Lamas knocked it out the park! The standard for scallops has been set. Courtenay was a phenomenal server and all around just a great experience.
Kate Aviles-Bishop
Absolutely phenomenal. Even the chips and guac was five stars. I had the special for the day, seared line-caught tuna, and it was delicious with the wine they recommended! Since it was my birthday, I also got a free dessert. Definitely coming back every year!

Great time, great food, the atmosphere was excepted. It's outside on a Saturday night with people crushing up and down Bardstown Road in the highlands. What else could be expected? My server/waitress was absolutely amazing! All in All, I give it a 99.2%.
John Aaron
Excellent Latin fusion restaurant. A must try if you are in Louisville. The service was excellent, and the food was fantastic.

Food was exquisite menu was well price and flavorful as well as the friendly customer service. Ambience was intimate and romantic.

We ate dinner at Seviche last night for my fiancés birthday and it was phenomenal. Drinks, food, & service were all wonderful. We had the tuna tartare, skirt steak & swordfish special. Our server was Chris and he was kind & quick to answer any of our questions. At the end of our dinner he brought us out his favorite dessert for my partner and wished her a happy birthday. We will definitely be back soon.

First time eating here and they exceeded all expectations. Great ambiance, terrific wine and spirits selection, nearly unmatched service (my water glass never fell below half full before it was topped off. Our table was so impressed we felt compelled to separately tip the gentleman refilling water $20) and everything we ordered was superb in both quality and execution. I'll be making it a point to come here again the next time I'm in town.

I visited this beautiful restaurant last night with a date. It was fabulous..we couldn't decide so we order a few things from the menu. The brie was so delicious!!! The skirt steak beautifully prepared. The scallops were so tender. The salmon was so delicate. We order both empanadas!!! Finished it off with tres leches & the black cherry ice cream!!!! The atmosphere was nice and the service was excellent!!!

One of the best meals I’ve had in a while. People have told me for years to check this place out, so I finally did. The ahi tuna and guacamole to start were outstanding. The skirt steak and mahi-mahi tacos were delicious as well. Good selection of drinks and a nice bar area. Outdoor seating if you’re into that. Highly recommend trying this place if you get the chance.
Andres Oyanedel
I think this place have a good concept of food, but is extremely over value. The food is food but it doesn't cost what they ask for. The seviche was good, but has only a few pieces of fish and a lot of onions.
Lauren Willis
I used to would have given them a higher rating but last time I went they were out of avacados and could not make guacamole. I was severely disappointed in this fact. Seems like a small thing but not when you are expecting to get that when you go here. Still the other food is wonderful and I will go back! Love the atmosphere and the big windows looking over Bardstown Rd.

Anthony needs to have his Head examined.......... We recently visited Seviche after a long absence - Hoping to enjoy yummy Seviche! I ordered a special "Sustainable" Tuna Seviche served with apple and cucumber slaw and was assured that it was not too spicy. At $16 for an appetizer (Anthony no longer offers 3 tasting for $25 or 5 for $40 which was the mainstay of the Seviche) it was rather steep...... There was no room for it to be spicy as there was NO FOOD ON THE PLATE!!!!!! I kid you not there were 8 or 9 thumbnail slivers of tuna topped with fingernail piles of "slaw" REALLY????? IT'S a FRUIT AND VEGGIE ALMOST FREE!!!!! As I ordered this as my ENTREE I was forced to cut every "Thumbnail" in half so that I would have 16/18 bites of food to eat! for $16....... Its not fricken Foie Gras! My other appetiser was a bit more food for the money but it was not outstanding. My Date had Pork and he said the sides outshone the meat. Drinks were great. Service great, atmosphere great, asked for table up front - received it. Will we be back? Very doubtful. Anthony I eat out 1 or 2 times a week at ethnic/Sushi and fine dining- but you are taking yourself WAY TOO SERIOUSLY!!!!

Ceviche Sampler and the Fish Tacos. A great way to experience a sampler of everything without breaking your bank. My fave restaurant in the city!
Trinoh
Great food and ambience!. I've been here several times before. This is the first time I've actually made an on line reservation. I had to wait 45 min. past my reservation time without an apology from a manager. I had great company so it was fine but they really need to let their customers know if they are going to delay their table that long. Other than that, the service and the food was excellent!
Kukulcandve
Eclectic with Andean twist.. We had a nice selection of 3 tapa like servings and a bisque to star. All were creative with a seafood theme, and a mix of Asian and Peru condiments. We will definitely return when in Louisville!

Everything about Seviche is wonderful except the portions and the prices. The service was excellent. The Tuna "old fashioned" seviche was excellent. The Mahi Mahi tacos were good. The sea scallops and spaghetti squash were so good we sang when we ate them but there were only 3 on my plate for $33. I don't mind paying good money for good food but give me enough food to be satisfied. I'm disappointed I won't be able to experience those scallops again at that price. I'm glad I did it once!

Love outdoor seating I only eat here in the summer because it is so uncomfortably cold in there summer or winter as with most resturants (one of my biggest complaints about resturants) the guacamole is great as always I personally would love more cilantro but most are not a fan. I had the jumbo lump crab seviche it was ok not spicy enough for me just bland and the crab a little too fishy but I know it's not the best choice for Louisville because there is no way of getting it fresh. Lesson learned again. Ceasar salad was switched up a bit I liked it I could use a few more toasted pepitas on mine but the dressing was perfect this time. I think they could use a bison burger or a grassfed beef burger on this menu not enough red meat options.... Yes the skirt steak is great but I don't want it everytime I'm here. I also have friends with seafood allergies and it would be nice to have more options for them. And who doesn't just want a burger sometimes? It's a crowd pleaser.
Ghap
Disappointing. For the price of the entree, one would expect it to be memorable. Instead it was a small, bland, dry portion of halibut which was oddly paired with a long, thin, fried egg roll-like tube allegedly containing crab meat, but so over-spiced as to render the actual contents unidentifiable.
We were seated in a small dark back room and our request to be moved to the primary seating area was refused.
The service was indifferent and bordered on negligent.
Any one of the above would have dampened our dining experience but, on this night they managed to hit the trifecta.
One star for the desserts. Over-priced, over-rated, disappointing.

It was bad when we went a couple of years ago but thought we would try again. Sorry we did. Looks nice, but stops there.
Jen
Seviche is one of my favorite restaurants but I won't be back. I simply cannot afford the prices. Two cocktails, two seviche and a split entree was $97, pre tip.
PH
Yum. Food and service was awesome. The "old fashioned" seviche was one of the best dishes I had in a while. My husband really liked their version of a Caesar salad.
Djbm88
Save your money. Awful, food is overpriced, service is lousy and I have had better meals at Mcdonalds
Angela
Used to be a fav but since they got national attention prices went up and portion sizes went down. My last two meals were so disappointing that I won't likely be back.

Good Seafood!. Have always loved this place! Awesome ceviche and seafood, great entrees. The atmosphere has changed into hotel room, but you still need to come here!
Alicia Phillips
So Good!. So good! We had the Kentucky Bison Empanadas. Since my last visit I have been dreaming of those things! Loved the bartender. He was great and gave us a good wine recommendation. I will definitely be back soon!

Went for my 60th birthday. Stick with the cheviche. It was fabulous. My $37 prime ribeye was crap. My date's fish taco was a poor execution. Service was spotty. Ordered espresso with dessert. Espresso arrived promptly, dessert took 30 min. All in all, not worth $150.

Seviche is A foodies best dream. Wow!!! The seviche is fresh and as good as any i've had in Mexico. Freah ingredients ant the "Tuna Old Fashoned" blew my mind. Me being from Oregon had to try the mussels. They tasted like they were harvested today. The bar is incredilbe. No need to order a double. I have never seen a mohito made at a bar with that much rum. The Capirinia is a must order. Creamy snd strong. It goes well with the chile ceasar salad. Do not miss this restaurant when in Louisville.
Michael Boesl
I wanted to have a fancy dinner with my girlfriend! So I made a reservation for 8pm! After 15min waiting they told us to get a beer and our table will be ready soon! We waited another 30min and saw 4 people walking in and getting a table right away! So we asked again and they told us that it takes another 30min! SO we just left!
If you want a stressful disappointing date then its the right place! Otherwise I would never recommend this restaurant
Michelle
Amazing!. Wow! I was blown away by the freshness of the food and how clean this place is. The food just pops with every bite and the flavors can't be found anywhere in Louisville. Anthony Lamas the chef is setting the standard for quality ingredients! You won't see salmon on the menu when it's out of season, because he's big on sustainable seafood. The service is great too! All around the best place in Louisville and possibly the best Latin restaurant in the country
John
Save your money over priced and lousy food

Went to Seviche last night and had a wonderful meal. The atmosphere is great. The smoked chicken empanadas are a great appetizer! Also, try the lemon curd dessert... AMAZING!
Kenny Rosenberg
KennyR. Very good. Black bass entree was memorable-outstanding. A very expensive dining experience however. Do no believe $$$ rating in Louisville Magazine. This is a suitable restaurant for a celebration.
Bethany Columbia UniversalLinen
I've never heard anything bad about this restaurant and my boss Shannon raves about the food! It's definitely one of the best restaurants in Louisville.
Kelley Miracle
One of my favorite places to eat! Love love it!!! Must try empanadas, seviche, swordfish, and tres leche dessert. Never had a bad meal. Yum!

Consistently Good. I've been to Seviche three times in the last four years and have always had good experiences.

They have an excellent wine list, their ceviches are quite good and I always think the food here is fresh.

The chef is creative without being over the top.

After spending a week eating my way around Lima, Peru, I came to understand what makes good ceviche:

1. High quality seafood
2. The right amount of citrus
3. Fresh accompanying ingredients

Seems really easy but so many get it very wrong.

Seviche is actually very good at making ceviche and that's why I love it so much.

So when you come here (and you should come here), get a nice glass of white wine like a Sauvignon Blanc or Albarino, order a couple ceviches, find a nice entree and share a dessert with the table.

It's not the cheapest meal in Louisville but it's worth the money.

Enjoy!

Great food. My son loves the skirt steak. I love the ARROZ CHIFAwith baby bok choy, napa cabbage, water chestnut, bluegrass soy, sambal, tofu. It is spicy.

Somethng special. My wife and I very rarely dress up and visit higher priced eateries. Even more rarely do we do the whole experience from drinks and appetizers to dessert. We received a cash card for our 6th anniversary with the stipulation that we use it for “something special.” Last evening at Seviche certainly was that.

All told we had 9 different items including the drinks. It would take me at least a couple of hours to write up a blow-by-blow account of the meal with item descriptions and our evaluation of each item that does the meal justice. More time than I want to devote as a “gratis” reviewer; so I will be brief, “one of the best dining experiences of our lives.”

Atmosphere-outstanding Drinks-robust and satisfying. Ingredients-fresh, some unique and in interesting combinations but all well-prepared and very, very tasty. Portions-surprisingly filling. Ambiance-unhurried and relaxed. Samuel, our server,-friendly, courteous and attentive. Complaints-absolutly none.

We spent right at $200 for dinner for two (including tips and valet parking) but it was worth every penny. Very special (at least for us) indeed!
Greg
Best in town!. We have been dining here since it was Jicama. It has never disappointed and I always walk away impressed, pleased and full. I choose to dine here each year for my birthday dinner! Get the skirt steak!

So clean and so fresh. Sometimes, you get what you pay for. and if you don't mind shelling out a few more bucks you will be rewarded with goodness. My experience at Seviche was certainly a positive one.
every flavor was fresh and entertaining, nothing was swamped in a "sauce de gastrique" . It was rather simple flavors, served fresh.

wait staff was excellent.

We really like this place--Great atmosphere and food.. I can certainly relate to the reviewer at the Courrier, I too want everything on the menu. It is a good thing that they have so many small items, because it allows you to explore the menu a little. Overall my husband and I had a GREAT experience here. Service was very good, and the hosts really worked with us to get an outdoor table without a reservation (we just happened to be in the area). Drinks were fun, and the wine list is good too. We will definitely be back on a Sunday, I hear they have half priced wine night. I highly recommend this place, there doesn't seem to be anything else like it in Louisville, and that is saying something, considering the city has thousands of restaurants. Not to forget about the food, we ordered about seven menu items, ALL of which were fantastic, fresh and beautiful. The empanadas were especially tasty, as was the crudo.

The Seviche and guacamole were really good. The fish tacos were decent. Atmosphere is nice, as well. I would go back but there are other places I'd rather go to for the price.

Delicious seafood!. After a recent trip to Seviche, it has easily become one of my top restaurants in the city. The price is worth every penny. Apps were great. Tried a few of the seviches and thought each was both unique and delicious. We both ordered seafood and were pleasantly surprised by how each entree was fresh and perfectly prepared. No crazy sauces or seasonings to interrupt the flavors of the fish. Love the Latin influences on everything, including the cocktails. Not to mention, the renovation did wonders to the interiors.

Pretty much perfect. Third time here and it's consistently pleasing. Excellent service. Great timing on all courses. Awesome drink recommendations at the bar and at the table. The four of us tried each other's food and every dish was prepared with care and tasted wonderful. I don't normally eat dessert right after dinner, but I had to dive into the sorbet trio and the creme brûlée that were passed around- SO GOOD. If I had any complaints, it would be the prices and portion sizes but that wouldn't hold me back from eating there once a week if I could afford it!!
AK
Very good but overpriced. The Entree was very good, the appetizer was fair (Guacamole/Lime/?) and the drinks were fair., and the salads were very good. Service was excellent to outstanding. Atmosphere was very good.

Overall, a nice place but not in our top ten, or twenty...
Hannah
Did not have a reservation, sat at a high top next to the bar. Pisco sours were great, but that was the only positive. We received our entrees seconds after finishing our appetizers and they were delivered while one of our party of two was in the restroom. We had ordered a bottle of wine but did not get it until halfway through the entree. We were still eating our entrees when our server asked us if we would like a bag for our wine so we could take it home. Our check was delivered before we finished eating and I felt the need to chug the last sips of my single glass of wine for fear I may spill it while they pushed us out the door. $150 in 43 minutes....No thank you.

The guacamole was very fresh and very delicious. But was topped by delicious sea scallops. Great meal and great service.
Hungry Mama
The best. This is my favorite restaurant in town. The food never disappoints. Great for a formal dinner, but I love to sit at the bar and chat with the super-friendly and stiff drink making bartenders.

I was here on a visit to KY several years ago and I have been longing to come back for some more. It was a very energetic environment and te waiter was helpful and knowledgeable. I had oysters and device and a tuna entree. I left so satisfied.

Perfect at Seviche. Our food was nothing less than perfect. Worth the price, highly recommended. I'm coming back!

Try the Duck Nachos..you will not regret!

The best this lame city has to offer!. I ate at Seviche for the first time at the end of August and was thrilled with it. I ordered the Macadamia Crusted Pacific Halibut as my main entree. My step-father and boyfriend requested Churrascos De Argentina (steak) and my mother had the Roasted Vegetable Chimichanga. The halibut was cooked to perfection; soft and tender and no overpowering taste of habanero that was added to it. We shared our entrees with one another so we could taste the magnificent and diverse way Chef Lamas' creations were put together. The roasted potatoes that accompanies the steak were unbelievably creamy and light. They were a perfect addition to the soft, tender steak. We were so delighted with our meals that we decided to get dessert which included creme brulee. The portion was just right and the sugar was perfectly heated.

The meals are a bit pricey, but worth it. If you are on a budget, skip drinks as they can add an easy $100.00 to your tab. ( I also noticed that the exact same bottle of Spanish wine you can get from Liquor Barn for $9.99 is priced on their menu for $40.00) To save even more, skip dessert.

In conclusion, I am impressed that Chef Lamas would pick somewhere like Louisville to open an establishment. Must be a fluke. ;)

Wonderful Night Out. Best Mojito I have ever had! Dinner and service was perfect. I have never had anything but perfect food and service from Seviche.

Go on Sundays!. Not only are all wine selections half price on Sundays(except for the private reserve small collection) but the seviches are a steal at $10 each. Skip the shrimp and go right for the tuna and crab with yellow tomato. Bison empanadas were delightful. Sit on the patio watching the sunset - what a perfect Sunday.
Laura
Love me some Lamas. I love the menu here at Seviche . The fish is amazing and Anthony Lamas is a chef who can turn a plain piece of fish into a masterpiece. I also love the decor and the outside patio. This is a gem!

Solid. Welcoming.. Walked in off the street sans reservation. They were booked solid for dinner but the bar was available.

Bartenders were amiable and served well. We were on our way to a show and they knew it so they expedited our service. Our ceviche starter was very pleasing. Fish tacos weren't the best I ever had but they were up there. Rest of the menu was very tempting but time prohibitive. Prices were commensurate with the menu items and quality.

We were offered samples of every draft beer before ordering. Also sampled two intriguing liquers at no charge.

Lives up to its rep. Perhaps the best restaurant we've been to in the three months we've been in town, and we've been to several dozen very nice places. Seviche was excellent in every respect--quality of food, presentation, service, ambience. Highly recommended

I took my wife here for our valentines date. We loved the spicy chicken empanadas, the skirt steak and the mojitos. Service was flawless, food was perfectly cooked and tasted delicious. I would agree with some that the nenu is a little overpriced, but we thoroughly enjoyed our experience and would dine there again. Great place for a romantic date.

Can't Go wrong. This is the best and most flavorful meal I have had in Louisville. Awesome vibe, awesome service and even better food. Everyone in our party of 15 left full and happy. Definitely worth a visit.

Can't wait to eat here again. We started with the mushrooms and goat cheese empinadas-awesome. This was followed by the ceviche in a coconut shell, one the best I have had. I then had a platter of pork. The best item on it was a black beans with chirizo and prime rib. The flavors were so complex and interesting. I could eat it again and again and thats how I feel about my whole dining experience. I can't wait to go back.

Amazing. Seviche is not just one of Louisviles best restaurant, but one of Americas best! These flavors are what you find in NYC, CA, Miami, Chicago

Mmmmm..... The mussels are inspiring. I actually slerped down the broth as soup!

Yummy. I love Seviche. The service is usually good. The food is awesome. Fresh seafood, fun flavors. I always try the ceviche of the day.
I would recommend making a reservation if you go Thursday-Sunday.
Ask for Gerald at the bar, best bartender in Louisville.
Adam Belch
Unique. If youre looking for something different but delicious, this is the place. The ceviche was great, like nothing ive ever had before. I highly recommend the "Mugs Bistec" PERFECT steak with delicious potatoes and lima beans
Pizza Lover
Excellent. Absolutely love Seviche. Don't skip the halibut seviche or you'll regret it. Food is perfect, ambiance is nice, service is excellent. A great meal every time.

Oustanding food!!! Recommend cucumber & jalapeño gazpacho, mussels, mahi tacos & grilled veg tower. Will return.

Seviche, I guess the name says it all!. If you like it raw it's always good, and the cooked stuff if pretty darn good also.

Great Night at Seviche. Exceptional experience at Seviche on Sunday night. This was our first time at Seviche and it will not be our last. We scheduled our reservation for a party of 4, on-line without issue. We were professionally and courteously treated throughout the evening. We sat inside, but had the option of sitting outside. Seating within the restaurant is well spaced out as is the seating outside. The entire meal from appetizers to dessert was simply fantastic. The empinadas were fantastic and very well prepared. We ordered the seviche tasting in which 5 different types of seviche were provided. All were fantastic. The oyster shooters quickly became a favorite of mine along with the margaritas. The shooters were great and had a very nice kick to them. We ordered a total of 4 entree's and each was very well prepared and displayed. Our party all had a great time, very nice service and the pace of the service was perfect. We each had 2 cocktails/glasses of wine and each had dessert while we all shared appetizers and seviche. Our total bill per person was $60. A great value for the wonderful evening we had.

Dinner was great!...service was ok ...

The oyster shooters and crusted sea bass are to DIE for! My favorite place to go that's a little pricey!
Madelyn
Bueno!. Loved the mushroom and goal cheese empanadas. Had a few other vegetarian options. Enjoyed the food, wine, and service. Look forward to going back!
Rachel
Excellent food and service! It is a little pricey but if you are willing to spend the money it is worth it. One of the more affordable entrees is the Mahi Mahi Tacos. They are delicious and currently only $12.00.
Eli Eblen
My husband & I love going to seviche! The food is wonderful and the service is great. They have the best soup's I have ever tasted. I would highly recommend this spot!
Eddie
We hated the parking, but the skirt steak churrssco was excellent. Service was good and looking forward our return.

Thus, our feast came to a reluctant end. Not a misstep in the whole shebang. Chef Lamas even graciously came out and spoke with us after the meal, politely answering our questions and submitting to our endless photo requests even though I’m sure the kitchen must have been completely slammed behind the scenes.

But the tostada was my favorite of the warm appetizers. It was a crisp tortilla topped with a little Manchego cheese, the most lovely, tender smoked chicken pieces, avocado, and more of the pico de gallo. The whole thing sat in a pool of Poblano demi glace and a bit more of the avocado cream. The chicken is what made this dish for both of us. It had a nice smoky flavor, but was so tender as well. I liked a bit of the demi glace, but a little went a long way. I was glad they served

The restaurant scene in Louisville never ceases to surprise me. Having experienced the rich Cuban flavors of Havana Rumba should have prepared me for the Caribbean flavors of Seviche , but somehow I was still happily surprised. From the delicious fresh se
