DeFranko’s is an OG sandwich stop in the valley. They have been around for over 50 years. It’s a little hole in the wall stop with no indoor dining but they have a few tables and chairs outside with a very small parking lot.
The service was just okay. They definitely get a lot of orders in person a
If you like mom and pop shop vibes, this is the place.
I got the recommended Pastrami, which was good. A lot of pickles and tomatoes which, depending on what your preferences are, make or break a sub.
Compared to Captain's Sub Shop just a few blocks away, I'd say this is more of a "traditional" sa
I've been driving by DeFranko's for a while now and decided to stop in to try their Tuna sandwhich and the Italian Cold Cut. The Italian cold cut was delicious, and I would definitely recommend adding extra mayo. When I got home, I did add olive oil and red wine vinegar to my sandwhich, and it took
Absolute gem of a sandwich restaurant near the Van Nuys airport. The orders come piling in around meal time so best to come early or late as they tell me during busy periods they won’t even pick up the phone! Still, the sandwiches are great and well worth the wait.
Good fresh loaded with goodness hot pastrami sandwich. We ended up splitting a large, so that tells you how good the portions are. The place is a small old school shack with character. We were there at a bit of an off hour but it seemed like there’s plenty of outdoor seating and tables. I’d definite
The greatest sub of the valley. The sub rolls are 10/10 covered in sesame seeds and super fresh. I ordered a small Italian and that was more than enough. It was very busy but my sub was made crazy fast. Super speedy workers.
Got a large pastrami with cheese and all the fixings. Good amount of chopped onions, pickles and tomatoes. Was about $17, cheese is extra. Only knock is the bread, as I think it’s too thick. Wait wasn’t long. Ordering is a bit odd as the front is closed and you have to place your order in the back.
This place is the hidden jem for the best tasty pastrami sandwich (mustard with cheese) 😉. A real historical moument. The sesame seed rolls are soft and delicious.
One of the best sandwiches I've had since living in LA for 19 years. The owner is friendly, the service is great. I'm happy I stopped by for lunch, I'll definitely be back 🤝🏿
The ultimate locals sub sandwich place. Super friendly and most importantly — delicious. If you're in the area, definitely worth stopping by for lunch!
