The food is great. But is cash only, so bring your cash cause you'll want to buy a little of everything, recommend the combination burrito, and taquitos with guacamole.
50's Style Burritos. I came, I tried, I liked. This is a burrito from the 1950's but better. I wouldn't make a special trip from afar to the tiny Boyle Heights stand but the food does hit the spot. Simple, old-fashioned, tasty and authentic with your choice of ingredients. Wash it down with some horchata.
I recommend you go to Al & Beas, order a green chile burrito with meat. Add to that a fried taco with guac and/or taquitos with guac and cheese. Or if your feeling gutsy, get the four finger dog with an order of fried jalapeños. Guilty pleasure.
The Best Green Chile in LA. It doesn't get any better than this. This is indeed a craveable product on which legendary restaurants are made of. Born and raised in East Los Angeles and now living in San Diego as a restaurant professional, the "Green Chile and Cheese Burrito" is indeed the best in LA and the Southwest for that matter. Having traveled in search for a green chile comparable in taste and flavor thru out the Southwest, you will not be dissapointed. Try the Combo Burrito with shredded beef, beans, cheese and of course that famous green chile. And if you like traditional refried beans, made the old fashioned way, the Bean and Cheese bean burrito will send you back to Nana's!!! Immaculately clean restaurant that's been around for over 30 years. The likes of actors Stacy Keach, George C. Scott filmed on location at this site the movie "New Centurions". Author Joseph Wambaugh of famed "New Centurions" and the "Onion Fields" to name a few books he has written, an ex LAPD Hollenbeck police officer and actors mentioned have enjoyed these tasty and delicious wrapped treats. It's not gourmet food, it's just great stuff that will keep you coming back for some great comfort food!!!!

A friend told me to come here. And I'm glad I did. My goodness the burrito was amazing, it comes with warm salsa you can literally drink it, is not spicy just oh so good and for the spicy lover's I just tried it and it's packed with flavor. Listen, if you don't know what to try please ask for Ryan. He's very helpful and nice. The place is extremely clean, price's are very reasonable. If you're driving go slow because so you don't pass it, it's right before St. Louis St. in Boyle Heights. It's truly nice Mexican food. I promise you'll like it. I give them a billion stars ⭐. Thank you again Ryan and worker's. 🙏🌹💯💪🇲🇽
🌯YOU NEED TO GO TO Al & Bea's Mexican Food Restaurant. This place has been a Boyle Heights institution since 1966, and it's easy to see why. The food is authentic and delicious, and there's something for everyone on the menu.
I always order the green chile burrito - it's huge and packed full of flavour. But the enchiladas, tacos, and quesadillas are also all excellent. And don't forget to try the refried beans - they're some of the best I've ever had. SUPER SABOR!
The staff are always friendly and welcoming, and the atmosphere is cozy and comfortable. I highly recommend this place! - Al & Bea's is definitely the place to go.
Always delicious food . Love living close by.. service is always nice n friendly.. sometimes there's a wait but it's well worth it.. I like using a bowl at home to keep my creamy bean n cheese burrito standing up.. oh n get 2 burritos. The next day the beans get thick and uff more creamier lol so scrumptious 😋
This is an LA classic, being from OC you don’t really find spots such as this over there that carry much history and even more renowned tradition. The flavor of their tortillas make the entire burrito and even the flavor of their meats and sauce is super authentic! Highly recommend to try the chicharon burrito and the combination one! Their charbroiled burgers very delicious and it’s not so known so give that a try as well. This spots one of a kind and I appreciate they’re always willing to give you more of their hot fresh salsa. Can’t ever go wrong with Al & Bae’s, keep it going! Parking not so bad either!
Nice classic location with Mexican eats. The beans were delicious, but the food was quite basic overall. The Al and Bea burrito was disappointing- I especially disliked the iceberg lettuce inside. A huge standout was the chile relleno burrito, which was a great vegetarian option. For two people, two burritos and a drink came to less than 20 dollars. I'll definitely be back. 😀 East LA rules!
I've been coming here since high school which was in the early 90s. Food has always been good, then and now. I'd recommend getting the combination burrito, its the best.My daughter really likes the bean and cheese burrito with red sauce, I would get it if youre craving spicy. If youre in LA, go to Al & Bea's for the best bean and cheese burritos.
Came all the way from Victorville to visit a childhood destination. The quality of the food has not lowered one bit over the years. The food was so fresh it was burning our mouths. The flavor of the food was unmatched. Its a family owned business that has kept it true, through and through. I would definitely recommend this place to others.
Al & Bea's is a family owned business in the heart of Boyle Heights, located across the street from the Hollenbeck PD. The food taste just like home made. My favorite is the Chile Relleno Burrito with beans. The best beans I have had yet. Another favorite is the Chicharron Burrito with their famous green chile and also served with beans. Those two burritos are so tasty that you will go back for more, once you've had their burritos. And who can eat a Burrito without the french fries, they are nice and crispy. I highly recommend this place!!
Al & Bea's is always on point. Food is excellent and unique. All the years I have eaten here the food remains the same great food we came to love and appreciate their consistency.
The chicarron burrito was tasty. The Al and Bea's special was good except it doesn't need lettuce. The quesadilla should be with white cheese not cheddar. Will return to try the combination burrito. Price is reasonable, $6.60 for the burritos.
