This is the closest thing to a real Pub in DTLA. Owned by a former Mayor mayor, and close to Staples Center, it's a good spot to pre game and also good for happy hour, but it's good to eat and drink at any time. More if an old school feel, but you can get a good meal and watch the game there is you aren't going to the game. Seems I can always walk in to get a drink and dinner easy without too much wait.
We were about to go next door but the 2 hours line made us change our mind. This pub is literally next door and serves exactly the same breakfast as the pantry ! Food was delicious, a must go if you don’t want to wait in line for breakfast !
I really don’t know where to start... Anziz is an EXCELLENT waiter & Bryon (host) is just as EXCELLENT. From the moment I walked in to the second I walked out I felt welcomed.
The food was great, the wait was worth it & I will be back and have already recommended this place. This place and the original pantry cafe are owned by the same people but this place have adult beverages.
We were seated quickly and the food portions are equivalent to the cost. Definitely a great alternative to waiting at The Original Pantry for an HOUR just to step inside...and the fooood is GOOOOD!
The Tavern had good atmosphere and the bar food was tasty, the waitress was friendly and pleasant....even though she was the hostess, waitress, busboy, food and drink server. How she managed to keep a smile on her face and stay in good spirits while taking care of a full house all by herself I do not know. Massive kudos to her!!!
Weekends they have the same breakfast as the Pantry without the long wait. The customer service is a lot better too. Angel is amazing and all the waiters and waitresses are great too. Their lunch and dinner menus during the week are great too.
If you want to go to the pantry on the weekends, but don't like waiting in line, come here! Same great pantry breakfast, but you can have mimosas (unfortunately not bottomless) or an Irish coffee. Plus they accept credit cards. The best part? No waiting! Love coming here for a great brunch!
We went there for steak and bear. We had sirloin steak: generous portion and the cooking was spot on. The plate was very generous as well. The beer was also very good (Guinness on tap). All at a fair price. Oh and service was excellent.
One of the best most affordable places to have breakfast in DTLA and the best part no lines. As the sister restaurant to the Original Pantry guess what folks it''s the same food. Grab a seat by the window for good people watching while your eating your large portion of food. No matter what you order brunch, lunch or dinner you will not leave hungry. Staff is quite pleasant and most have worked there a long time.
I went for Happy Hour on a Saturday afternoon after seeing a play at the Mark Taper DTLA. Comfy sports bar with dark paneling. It was not busy and quite quiet. Chicken wings were well done and the skin was crispy. Great martini with a twist. Margarita off the Happy Hour menu was good too. It was a nice end to a pleasant afternoon.
