Melrose Umbrella Co.

So I went to Melrose to eat Blackbird pizza, which I didn't know was closed until 4 pm ug, but lucky for me, the taco shop right next door was open! The two chefs, brothers Juan and Gelacio Catalan were immediately welcoming. I chose the asada, al pastor, and the Dorado potato tacos to start with and they were sooo good that I ordered a shrimp taco too, oooh that shrimp taco was really outstanding but ALL of them were amazing, I can't say enough about the hand pressed yellow corn tortillas, they added such a great flavor to already arguably some of the most flavorful tacos I've ever had! Such a lovely experience all around, please go in and say hello to Gelacio and Juan, have a chat and try one of their wonderful tacos! I can't wait to go back and try the Torta and the Smash Burger hahaha I do love all the different style restaurants here in LA that offer a Smash Burger! I feel like that's how I knew this place was going to be GREAT!

Raul Director of Security was beyond amazing. This charming, intelligent handsome and well dressed young man took care of us from beginning to end. It was our first time and it definitely wont be our last. He gave us a quick summary of the history of the bar and his favorite dishes and drinks on the menu as well. We had the mole tacos and passion without pressure drinks. Thanks again Raul!!

Very cute place, limited menu but what they have works. I tried the backyard burger, was very delish although the “special sauce” didn’t seem over the top, I was expecting a big bang. The waitress was absolutely amazing, she had the whole back section to herself but she kept a great attitude the whole time.

Nice location, very open, easy-paced environment. Food and drinks were great! Majority of us ordered burgers with a variation of sweet potatoes, tater tots, and regular fries. Seating is faily good, there are a mix of booths and tables (the table are a little small, just fits two, so just be mindful if you're coming in with a bigger group). Staff was super friendly and helpful, they day we came in it wasn't really busy and it was just one guy at the bar. All-in-all, you should stop by for some grub and good vibes!
