I love shaved ice! This place has lots of flavors. I tried the green tea flavor and it's pretty strong. Sweet but not too sweet. I love love love their homemade rice balls! It's soft, sweet, and chewy! I would come back again.

I am getting a small green tea snow cream. They say that the snow cream is shaved ice cream made in small batches with natural cane sugar and fresh ingredients.
The mini isn’t even mini. Look at this. This is like a extra large plus at other ice cream places. However, I suspect that most of it is air.
Wow this is interesting. Yeah I was right, it is like 80% air. But the texture is fun. It like compresses in your mouth as if you are eating snow. The flavor is like a mix of ice and ice cream. It isn’t as creamy as I hoped, and it tasted half like ice. Because it is so flaky, it is a really messy eat. I’m sorry.
What’s great about this place is that you can get something really big for quite cheap. $4 for the mini that I got. The big downside about this is that it tastes like you are eating watered down ice cream. It isn’t as creamy as one would think from ice cream.

First experience Taiwanese shaved ice cream n I love it !
There are 2 sizes Regular and small, even smaller size was enough to share with my friend !
75cents to add topping so I added red beans and shiratama . I can't wait to try more flavors and toppings !

Yummy snowy shaved ice with delicious toppings, at a reasonable price.. my only complaint would be that the regular size is so big! I recommend the classic combo of green tea with red bean, mochi, and condensed milk.

Blockheads Shavery is the perfect place to get your fix with cute desserts. They have Japanese cult favorites like macarons and shaved ice cream with an abundance of fun toppings. Don't be a blockhead and miss out on Blockheads. This is basically the chicken shawarma of ice cream, complete with a rotating spit that the associate shaved down before your eyes.
It's a completely unique experience you won't find anywhere else and only costs $5-8 with toppings. Oh, and there's every type of topping you could be craving. Sweet lychee is one of my favorites!
I also love their whimsical macaroons shaped like penguins, unicorns and Pokémon characters like Charzard. Gotta catch em all. Grab a table outside and try their petite, animal-inspired macarons.
If you're coming to Sawtelle for noodles or karaoke, you have to stop at Blockheads for dessert!

This place has some of the best shaved snow. The green tea and black sesame are my favorites. They just melt in your mouth and taste almost as creamy as actual ice cream. Many toppings to choose from. There is always a line however and limited seating. It's great for sharing as the cup can be huge. Very affordable prices for the quality.

So I have been here a few time and I have to say this place has good good good flavor. The shaved ice is snow flake and once you go snow flake, you don't go back to Hawaiian style unless you are in a jam on a hot hot hot day and there is only Hawaiian style. This soft, ice cream like snow flake is sooooo good. I like the black sesame and green tea flavors the most. The original is okay. They also have combos. I usually go with the black sesame or green tea combos as well.
The sizes of the shaved ice are large and super large. You can share one small with 2-3 people or have one by yourself...which I can so easily.
My only gripe is that the last time I went, the presentation of putting everything in the bowl was lacking. They use to make it look so amazing. But also I think they are skimming on the amount of snow flake and toppings they are putting in there. So I would give them a half star off, but it still tastes good. Still my favorite is class 302. They bar far have the best shaved ices and never skimp!
I would say be prepared to wait in line, even in the winter time. And also you would be lucky to find seating.

I would give this a lower score, but I think it would be unfair. This place sells iced milk with toppings. They do a really good job of that. I just don't like iced milk that much. Basically they have a couple of types of iced milk that they freeze into blocks. You order a flavor and some toppings. It tastes pretty good. Keep in mind that the portions are huge! I don't think most people need more than the smaller size. I loved the brownie chunks in my order. Wish there were a few more, but overall it was a good experience.

Their shaved ice is amazing! They have very reasonable prices and huge portions. I ordered the large green ice combo, and it was enough for 5 people. The regular is probably enough for about 3 people. Great service, and not a long wait. Would definitely recommend!

Place was super cute but like you would expect very Asian. Love the fact that they make their own ice cream bars -- thought it was a cute idea.
They didn't let us sample their shaved ice but our cookies and cream choice did not fail is. The texture was very smooth and melted right in your mouth.
Would definitely come back :)))

SHAVED ICE has never tasted so good. I love this place and it is definitely one of my favorite dessert spots. I have never had such a thing as this shaved ice until I found out about this spot. I mean, I have had snow-cones and icees, but this ice is out of this world. I would have given it a 5 star review but over the past few months the wait after placing an order has been getting longer and longer. Expect to wait 20-30 minutes AFTER your order is placed. I haven't been here in a while and the wait is definitely a deterrent.

There's nothing better on a beautiful LA day than sitting outside with delicious shaved ice and pick-your-own toppings. Great addition to the Sawtelle stretch.

Go here when you want a cool treat that is lighter (and healthier) than ice cream! My favorite so far is the black sesame, I couldn't really taste taro but most of the deliciousness comes from the toppings and condensed milk. The sizes are somewhat reasonable albeit pretty pricey at 4.50 for regular and 6 for a large.
Order in and on the plate if you want more shaved ice, the cups don't hold as much. The only problem is there are only 4-5 tables and it gets packed pretty quickly, so if you want a seat try to estimate when demand for this place is low (maybe during dinner and in between dinner and lunch). A pretty good dessert place that is definitely sapping profits from Yogurtland and other stores in Sawtelle!

Great place for shaved ice! The shaved ice is shaved very finely. The texture of the ice once it is in your mouth taste chewy. It taste nothing like snow coned ice. The flavors of shaved ices are: green tea, strawberry, black sesame, and original. You can pick the pre-made combo ones or create your own shaved ice with different toppings. It gets pretty busy right after lunch. Cash ONLY!

Honestly it's a neat idea to have shaved ice cream with toppings. Pretty fun place that's rather small, but the portion size is not. Had the Strawberry and it was good, but didn't have that much strawberry flavor at all. It's a fun place. A little loud as well.

After dinner in Little Osaka, my friend took me to Blockheads as she was raving about the shaved ice. There was already a line outside the door as I was told it gets pretty busy. We ordered the green tea shaved ice with red bean and glutinous rice cakes. For what you pay, I would say the regular size is a generous portion enough for two. The shaved ice was actually frozen green tea and not just flavored after like most shaved ices. It was really good and definitely worth the price and wait. It should open another store if not franchise because I think it would do really well.

A unique twist on shaved ice, it's more or less shaved cream. Comes out in light fluffy little ribbons and is such a delicious treat. The portions are decently sized and you can definitely split one with an SO. Love coming here for dessert since there really is no other place like it.

Please see the review below me. I only had a couple sips and it ended up making me nauseous. I like to think I have a pretty iron stomach which makes me think that whatever they used that was spoiled was pretty far gone. Pepto saved me but I was definitely gross burping for an hour after I took it.

We got a green tea cookie with along hair stuffing inside
That really grossed

Great snow ice, and their macarons are on point too. Limited selection of syrup toppings; no mango or other tropical fruit options for syrup.
Hannah Lee
The counter was very dirty and they dropped our shaved ice. But instead of making new ones, they wanted to remove the toppings and add new toppings to the shave ice they had dropped. We had to insist that they make completely new ones. And these days they seem to always run out of rice cake even more than an hour before closing. We have been coming here for years but will have to re-think spending any more money here given their horrible service and unsanitary practices.

Please be careful if you fancy a milk tea here and don't make any important evening plans. I came here Saturday and purchased their Vintage black milk tea....food poisoning (I'm talking violent vomiting and other things that are TMI for the next 24 hours). Unfortunately I had concert tickets that evening for my husbands birthday and he had to rush me home so I can spend the rest of the night w the toilet. Please, don't want anyone having to go through that. I had my friends try my milk tea and one warned me it tasted sour, I was like "I paid 7 dollars for this milk tea - I'm sure it's fine". I'd like to mention all my unlucky friends that I forced to try my milk tea also got sick (not as severe) but they had to pepto bismo it up. This is extremely careless, reckless and outright wrong of the business to serve stank milk, please stop for the love of god. My belly and emotions are still recovering 2 days later...

First, was skeptic about trying it because it may be just one of those fad gimmicks!!! Now, I have no words but, OMG.... Just try it because I can't describe how good it is!!!!

Awesome...melts in your mouth and the toppings are so fresh! Gotta try it.

Every time a friend visits the neighborhood or wants a birthday treat, I take them here, so I'm basically there every week and now I can't fit into some of my old dresses I wore just last fall. That's how yummy this place is.

The go-to place to eat something cold!
