The first visit at Polka Restaurant was awesome. Came here to sample Polish food before our trip to Krakow, Poland. The food was delicious with great flavors and texture. We had a variety of different dishes like beef stew, sausage, cabbage rolls, and schnitzel. Jolanta, our host, was very attentive and helpful with our questions about the food and the Polish language. We will definitely be back to try other dishes.
The food was amazing! The chicken schnitzel and sauerkraut pierogi are so yummy! I highly recommend it to everyone who wants to try Polish food, my husband loved it, and so did I! 💗 Not to mention the professional and amazing staff and the overall vibe of the restaurant, I love it and I will for sure come back in the future!
Excellent Polish cuisine. Just what we needed on a Sunday afternoon. We cook at home as much as possible so we all appreciate food made with love. Pierogis tasted like my grandma’s (born in Lviv, she always served it fried). Tomato soup was super delicious. My roasted pork with mushroom sauce was as a trip back to Silesia, my fatherland. Fabulous, bilingual service. Thank you! Dziękujemy za fantastyczny obiad!
Very good quality of food, we liked it! My main recommendation is to take any dish with Polish Sausage or Snitzel! This is really amazing!
Special thanks to Yolanda, she is beautiful server, explained everything in menu, gave us a lot of recommendations and gave us very hospital attention, thank you!
A neighborhood classic for about 30 years. The schnitzel (kotlet) is bigger than your head! My wife’s favorite; we fight for the leftovers. And everything is so tasty. The owners are friendly and welcoming and the decor is charming. Love this place.
Good food overall. And gluten free.
The creamy potato soup is wonderful. So flavorful. The side salad was fresh and nice. The dressing was to sweet for my taste. The liver and onions were good. A bit overcooked. Tasty potatoes. Wish there was more sauce. Corn side was nice. The carrot and broccoli were boiled till flavorless, no seasoning at all and not savable.
Absolutely delicious dinner! We started with tomato soup which was so tasty and fresh. Then we had a small salad. After was the main course--the stuffed cabbage roll which reminded me of a lighter meat loaf (and so delectable) and the spicy sausage (so savory). The portions are good.
The ambiance is cozy with jazz playing in the background. Love this place! Would definitely come back.
I've been visiting polka for well over five years and have seen it go through quite a few changes. I'm glad it's still around and that the food is not something that has changed very much per my visit with my twin sister last night. The menu noticeably no longer uses the polish words for each dish and the interior of the restaurant feels much less like my polish grandma's living room than it used to (changes in decorations, music, etc.) That said, we loved our dinner plates and the extra side pierogies we ordered, and enjoyed a polish lager though they did not have zywiec like they used to, and found the chicken tomato soup of the day to be delicious though unusually sweet--perhaps more sour cream was needed:-)
We will be back again soon.
We were amazingly surprised how good this restaurant was. It is quite authentic. Their menu doesn’t offer many choices but you can have a first taste of Polish cuisine. They even offer vegan/ vegetarian options. Many people commented that the pierogies were bland. It is the truth and you definitely need a sauce. I would also not recommend the cali style pierogies. Just take the pierogies with a sauce. Try to taste the stew if you are not a fan of “dumplings”. Any choice you make you receive a hearty soup and a salad. Don’t try to get the American service you would expect. Restaurant is small and very clean. It is not cheap but you will experience a new cuisine.
Far and few in this city. Polka Polish is a prime example of the cuisine.
The menu is around all the staples accustomed to. Flavors are reminiscent of home cooking. There is subtleness in all the flavors. Everything is fresh tasting, and you can certainly see the careful attention to each dish.
The decor is understated and classic. The location is nondescript, and will be a focal point of your travels once you eat here.
Give this classic neighborhood gem a try and appreciate its long-standing.
