We were easily able to make a reservation for Public School on Ventura Blvd in Sherman Oaks on OpenTable, where they gave you different seating area options to select from. If you don’t park in their lot, we found plenty of street parking in the residential neighborhood across the street. I was craving something healthy-ish and filling, so I went with the Chophouse Filet Steak Salad ($21) which comes with chopped romaine, mixed greens, roasted red pepper, pickled onion, blue cheese dressing, filet mignon medallions & crispy fried onions. The blue cheese dressing was extremely light, and I’d you’re mildly sensitive to dairy you likely won’t have a problem with it as-is. I asked if I could switch out the crispy fried onions for grilled onions since I’m gluten free, and they were able to accommodate! I also really liked how they listed on their menu with GA in circles to clearly denote which items were Gluten Friendly. I would do the same thing if I came back, but next time I would add the avocado for $3 extra.

We scheduled a professional meeting in their private room, which included a screen, projector, wi-fi, and everything else necessary for a group meeting. The room has a rolling door for added privacy. What a fantastic place to have a private get together! The décor is fantastic for all those who love a good vintage/nostalgic concept. The food and service were wonderful, and the manager provides personal attention to all his guests. There is valet parking, lot parking, and street parking. I highly recommend this restaurant for both personal dining and meetings.

Public School is a pretty chill night place with a good vibe. I went on a weeknight, which had quick seating and service. The food was okay, a little pricy, but solid for Ventura Blvd restaurants. I will say that the drink selection is pretty basic. If you like a good selection of draft beer, they have a solid one. Mixed drinks were okay, but could be made with a little more attention. I suggest getting the calamari and the chicken sandwich with egg on it. Great choice.

This restaurant had a great theme that was incorporated throughout the facility. And the food was spot-on! Everything was tasteful and well seasoned. My husband had a delicious Bison BBQ burger with an amazing peanut coleslaw. He's not usually a coleslaw guy, but he was glad he tried it! The peanuts really balanced the slaw. I enjoyed my Poke bowl. The veggies were fantastic and the rice wine vinaigrette really brought the taste pallet together fully! We will definitely be visiting this restaurant again.

I skipped dinner and had dessert. The Nutella ice cream cookie sandwich. The cookie was great! The Nutella made it too sweet, and I’m not sure what vanilla ice cream they used but it wasn’t anything special. Cookie was the best part. Boss got the PB&J burger which was interesting and sounds weird. He said it was OK. I tried the cauliflower which was delicious, but parts of it were too crunchy— in the sense I couldn’t really chew on it comfortably. The taste was great. Other boss got the 불고기 cheesesteak and enjoyed it.

This is a great place to come for delicious food and drinks with friends. I can not give it a full 5 stars because it is extremely loud and the parking situation is difficult. You have to pay for valet parking since the street parking in the area is very difficult. The food is delicious even though the portions are small. This make it easy to order a few different things on the menu since all of it looks so delicious! Get here on the earlier side if you do not want to have too much of a wait.

So - normally when I give five stars - I'm going to rave about the place. I prefer to give good over bad reviews so people know the best places to go, and because, generally, the bad places are going to do themselves in on their own -but I digress. Public School 818 is a very cool, unique concept and it's well done. The food was very good and the service was very good. I'm sorry I'm just not overly excited about it - I think I feel it's somehow lacking something - it's almost generically good. It's a neat place and you'd enjoy the setting and the food, drink, and setting for sure though.

An eclectic eatery with a fun theme throughout offering a variety of hamburgers, sandwiches, salads, and breakfast brunch dishes. Public School offers a new twist to the school yard with cute names for their menu. "Recess" is Happy Hour. "Liquid Education" is their drink menu with signature cocktails and Old School - drinks on every menu such as Margaritas, Vodka and Soda, Gin and Tonic. I enjoyed a juicy Public School Hamburger, which comes with Sriracha ketchup, mustard BBQ sauce, lettuce, tomato, onion, pickle, and American cheese with a side of crispy fries. We also munched on the Crispy Fish Tacos made with cod, cabbage slaw, white cheddar, Pico de Gallo, chiptole butternut herb dressing. I washed these down with a Hazy IPA. Public School is popular because the menu is so diverse. There is something for everyone. Plus this place has darn good sauces! Public School is located across the street from the Galleria Mall and across the street from the Top 40 Radio Station on the bottom floor of a high rise. Parking is cumbersome if you don't Valet. There is a pay by parking space lot farther down to the west. It is just a short walk up the street to the restaurant. There is outside patio dining, inside booth seating and a small bar.

I had the Crispy Chicken Sandwich and upgraded the fries to sweet potato fries. The sandwich was ok.. nothing to rave about, but the sweet potato fries were very good. I came in on a slow Friday night and the greeter was very nice and sat us right away. The server was ok. Now parking sucks here you have to pay $6 in cash! You’re better off parking on the street. It’s possible that the parking attendant leaves sometime around 8:30pm… he was gone when we walked out around 8:45pm Friday night. Just something to keep in mind. The ambiance is nice, the food is good I recommend trying it out.

First time here and I loved it! Friendly staff. Great prices. Nice atmosphere. They have food options for everyone. Vegetarian, Vegan, and Gluten Free Options. Went here on a Saturday night and it wasn't crazy busy which was nice. Great for a small gathering of people or a large group. If you go for cocktails I highly recommend a Classic Whiskey Sour. I had Megan as my server and she was tremendous! Attentive and helpful for any questions I had!
