Tsujita is a tsukemen and ramen place, with its tsukemen being their speciality (Both are really good though!). The tsukemen noodles are thick and grippy with a chewy texture, and for the one I ordered, came with four pieces of thick leaner chashu (My favorite!!!), they were delicious! They had a slight taste of being seasoned with bonito and eating them without dipping them into the broth was in my opinion the best. The broth has small pieces of chashu, wood ear fungus, and some spring onion. The large being a $1.50 upgrade it came with a hefty amount of noodles, and once you grab your noodles, dip it into the broth, and begin eating it becomes hard to stop. (The last time I ate their ramen was a few years ago so I'll write about it when I have a more recent experience). I had an extremely satisfying meal at Tsujita LA Artisan Ramen and will definitely come again the next time I visit Sawtelle.
Awesome tsukemen spot with a wait time even on a Sunday afternoon. Waited about 15-20 minutes and got seated indoors.
Never had tsukemen before, which is essentially ramen noodles and the soup broth in separate bowls. The broth is thicker than traditional ramen and the noodles are dipped in the broth for flavor.
For both the noodles and the broth I would give a 4/5. The noodles were thicker than I expected from ramen typically more like soba but I think the greater surface area helps with the dipping. Combined the noodles and broth were delicious. The broth was somewhat fishy as it is fish-based which is not too my taste but nothing wrong with it.
The char siu pork and egg were excellent as well. The flavor of the char siu was not overpowering and the texture of the meat was tender, though could be more tender (4/5). The egg itself was marinated and had a slight taste of wine taste, which complements the ramen well (5/5).
Fantastic Japanese eatery in central Sawtelle, J-town. It was buzzing with a long line right when they opened. We were thrilled to dine here. Had their wildly popular Tsukemen & were not disappointed. Noodles were al dente, broth had a perfect umami balanced flavour, & the pork was juicy tender. Our waiter was friendly, attentive, & quick. I like their outdoor seating. Looking forward to return & try more of their menu.
The noodle comes out so fast, literally right after you order. There’s a bit of a lunch wait on the weekends.
Noodles were so chewy! The dipping concentrated soup was good and not too salty, it’s very flavorful.
Tsujita is my go-to ramen noodle spot when I go to LA. Located in the bustling heart of Sawtelle, known as "Little Osaka" of Los Angeles, Tsujita LA Artisan Noodle is a ramen haven that’s earned its stellar reputation through sheer culinary mastery. Amidst an enclave celebrated for diverse eateries, Tsujita stands out as a pilgrimage site for ramen enthusiasts.
One can't talk about Tsujita without raving about their Tsukemen. A dipping ramen, where noodles and broth are served separately, this dish is the epitome of flavor dynamism. The broth, thick and savory, exhibits a depth that can only result from hours of meticulous simmering. It's rich, almost gravy-like, and each dip coats the noodles perfectly, ensuring every bite is a harmonious blend of taste and texture. The noodles, on the other hand, are a marvel in their own right: thick, chewy, and with a resilience that ensures they remain al dente till the last slurp.
While Tsukemen is the showstopper, their traditional ramen bowls, such as the Tonkotsu, shouldn't be overlooked. The broth is velvety, the char siu pork slices are tender and flavorful, and the accompaniments, from bamboo shoots to soft-boiled eggs, complement the bowl impeccably.
The ambiance at Tsujita mirrors the food: unpretentious yet crafted with care. The interior is intimate, often buzzing with anticipation as diners await their steaming bowls. Service is prompt, with the staff well-versed in guiding newcomers through the menu.
Tsujita LA Artisan Noodle is not just a restaurant; it's an experience. It's where traditional Japanese ramen techniques meet the vibrant energy of LA. For anyone seeking a bowl that warms both the body and soul, Tsujita on Sawtelle is an unmissable destination. Each visit promises not just a meal, but a narrative of flavors that linger long after the bowl is empty.
Loved everything we got here! We went on a Friday night and there was about a 15 minute wait to get a table. Ordered the yuzu seltzer and the chashu rice bowl, my partner got the silky vegan ramen, and then we split the salmon rice bowl as well. Everything was really reasonably priced - much less than we were expecting - and it was all really good. Definitely want to go back again!
A legendary place to eat ramen and tsukemen. Has a real home made flavour served in simple surroundings. Be prepared to wait for a table in the evening but it's well worth the wait
They have a pretty good Tsukeman. Noodle is chewy enough, and sources have complicated tastes based on seafood. I like it, Chashu was good, but it's not my taste. Good restaurants ^^
Love it! One of the best Japanese noodles you can find outside of Japan. The eggs were cooked so perfectly that I ordered 2 eggs next time. Their rice starters are decent but I'd recommend the spicy tuna than the salmon for sure. Dip noodles gets cold easily when sitting outside.
So currently I am visiting from NYC.
My close friend recommended me here.
I had the first option of Ramen the charisu ramen. As soon as I had the ramen I tasted the broth. I really enjoyed the broth because you can really taste the shiitake base among other flavors. It's extremely flavorful. It's not oily, it's not salty. I had a whole egg and it was gooey in the inside how it should be.
Picture might not be appealing but my god it was very good to the point I drank the soup.
Staff - Very polite
Atmosphere - very chill
Wait time: Almost right away.
