The food here is quite good, but pricey for what you get. We ordered the chips with caramelized onion dip, fried chicken sandwich and the caesar salad. The Caesar salad was really good. The chicken sandwich was good but kind of disintegrated quickly. I have to echo the other reviewers that the whole mandatory service charge thing is not cool, if it's not a tip.

Son of a Gun never fails to impress! The food quality has remains consistently high, and their snap peas salad is a must-try when available. Don't miss the linguine pasta with clams and Uni aglio olio it’s a guaranteed winner. Their fried chicken sandwich with fresh quick pickles is to die for. The service is outstanding, and reservations are a must.

Some of the best food I’ve had in LA. Best oysters and lobster roll by far. Service was great and loved the casual vibe. Only reason why I didn’t give it 5 stars is because they added an 18% charge on the total bill and say it doesn’t count towards any of the tip. Gave us a weird feeling as typically they say additional tip would be optional and of course we would have still tipped. Felt odd and a little sneaky. Of course we will still be going back, but now we are more aware of their 18% fee on top of the normal tip as well. Bill for two ended up being around $280 with tip in it

The flavors and the service were great although as many other reviewers have mentioned the 18% service charge is really unfair. They should just pay their workers more to begin with. The issue is the 18% service charge is baked into your subtotal which is what you’re expected to tip off of. They should just subtotal your items and then add the 18% service charge and the state tax after that. Expecting you to tip on top of a service charge is honestly ridiculous. I am a big fan of the Jon and Vinnys, Petit Trois, and Animal, so I was very excited to try this place. It’s definitely more casual than all the others mentioned, but also a lot smaller. As mentioned our server Cassandra was really great and very prompt. She did a great job. The portion sizes are very small however, so this is not a place where you will be able to share items, nor is it somewhere to go if you are very hungry. I started off with the Caesar Salad, and it was absolutely delicious. The portion size is actually very fair, and I would happily order it again. Next I tried the Tuna Melt, which was very tasty, although I wish it came with avocado in it, which would’ve made it even better. The portion size was very small however. Finally I also tried the Lobster Roll, and it was gone in literally two bites. Kind of disappointingly small even though the flavors were very good. We also ordered the Nashville Hot Chicken sandwich and it was actually great in flavor and fair in portion size. The french fries are a actually a shareable size so you really have to be careful what you order. Overall a really good meal but the portion sizes and the service charge hold it back from being a five-star place. Especially when you compare it to Animal or Petit Trois it falls a bit short of those, or Jon & Vinny’s.

Quick trip to LA and our first stop was Son of a Gun. Each dish was delicious! We had the hamachi, shrimp toast, lobster roll (it's small so just order two), clam linguine, fried chicken sandwich and the bourbon crunch ice cream. When we go back, I'd order all of these dishes again but I know we need to try more of the menu so MAYBE we'll try new things. Staff was super friendly and knowledgeable about the menu. Overall, wonderful experience.

If you aren’t looking out for Son of a Gun you may miss it, but you have to stop in because it is SO good. When I walked in I thought I would be getting seafood because the interior is sea themed, but the chicken sandwich is delicious. The chicken itself was well seasoned and tender and the pickles and slaw were a great compliment. I also recommend the fries with the Nashville seasoning. I will definitely be back!

My phone had broken and I needed a screen repaired. Yes it happens strangely once a year but found a place near by that not only had great energy and great decor. I posted up at the bar and enjoyed not only the sea fairing decor but the fantastic Jacob told me about the restaurant and it's decor being done by the same exact creative that did Twin Peaks. So very rad. I support this place, it's whiskey sours, Jacob the amazing bartender and it's very well done fish and chips : it's absolutely fantastic and we are lucky to have it in our city of angels.

Mini lobster roll, smoked mahi dip, and kennebec fries rounded out a seaworthy lunch. Very fun decor and extremely kind and professional staff. The lobster roll was petite but packed with flavour and lobster. The toasted bun was buttery and delicious. The smoked mahi dip is a must have. I had to pace myself so I didn’t devour it immediately.

Overall pretty good food. The customers service was amazing, we had a very nice waitress. The drinks were great. Unfortunately, the chicken sandwiches came out cold on our particular visit which ruined the excitement. But, despite that it's a place you must visit!
