VERY impressive building and décor. Really feels like something that was lifted out of Scotland and placed in L.A. The food is tasty and unique, and the service has been utterly superb every time I have been there.

We stopped here on a Sunday evening at 7:30 PM and found parking on the street and walked in. I was so surprised to find the place empty. The Hostess warmly greeted us, and explained that there’s 3 sections: the formal dining room, the Sandwich & Ale bar with a lighter menu, and the Pub.  The Sandwich & Ale bar and Pub are first come seating, and we can order off the full menu from any section.

We chose the Sandwich & Ale section, and the server handed us  the sandwich bar and the regular menu. We decided on the Sandwich & Ale bar because I wanted the roast pork plate, and the formal dining room didn’t serve it.  The area was quite cozy with comfy chairs, hidden nooks, and Tavern looking tables.

This review is for the Sandwich and Ale bar section. We stopped here on a Sunday evening at 7:30 PM and found parking on the street and walked in. I was so surprised to find the place empty. The Hostess warmly greeted us, and explained that there's 3 sections: the formal dining room, the Sandwich and Ale bar with a lighter menu, and the Pub.  The Sandwich and Ale bar and the Pub are first come seating, and we can order off the full menu from any section.

We sat down at the Sandwich and Ale section, and the server handed us  the sandwich bar and the regular menu. We decided on the Sandwich bar because I wanted the roast pork plate, and the formal dining room didn't serve it.

Apparently if you want carved meats, you don't place your order with the server.  That's for other items like Fish n Chips or Shepherd's Pie.  For carved meats like roast beef, prime rib, brisket, or in my case, the roast pork, you walk up to the carving station and tell the carver what you want.

Similar to Lawry's, the carver slices my roast pork to order, added the mashed potatoes and gravy, and I asked if I wanted creamed corn or creamed spinach. I chose the creamed corn. The plate of roast pork was $19, and it was a generous portion.  The roast pork was a little fatty but very tender and melted in my mouth.

Stephen ordered the Shepherds Pie which came with a mixed salad. It was smaller than I anticipated. The inside was was full of ground beef and some vegetables. The crust of mashed potatoes on top was not as toasty as I thought it should be.  Overall, I thought it was a little overpriced for $22, and thought it could be a bit more. Stephen let me try it and I thought it was just ok. A bit disappointing..

Dinner for 2 at the sandwich bar came to $47, before tip. and no drinks. Overall it's a lot cheaper than eating at the dining room, and I enjoyed my carved plate.

Reservations are not excepted for the Sandwich and Ale bar or the Pub, but you can make reservations for the dining room. Your Lawry's VIP rewards points can be applied to any part of the restaurant as well.

No self service parking on site, but you can park on the street.  Another Lawry's location checked off my list.

THE BEST. This is my favorite restaurant in Los Angeles. I have been eating here for many, many years. They seem to be back on their game with the food and service. If you love prime rib, this is THE place. Ambiance is perfection and very old school. Service is pretty good, but can be spotty on busy nights. I had only one problem, once, and that was with a side that was terribly over salted. They made good on it. The bar is small and fills up quickly if you don't arrive at an earlier hour. Drinks are good, but like any place, these days, overpriced. I am still mystified as to why Smirnoff vodka isn't included as a "well" spirit during happy hour? Come on, guys! I have brought many out-of-towners here for dinner, and they rave about it and were happy that I took them here. If you haven't been, GO.

TIP O' THE TAM .... Attention Prime Ribbers everywhere: one place beats them all for the most exquisite prime rib ever to grace the palate - it's that classic little Irish pub, the Tam! Been there for years, changed owners a coupla times, but always under the same fine Family management, Tam O'Shanter on Los Feliz in L.A. always satisfies with the BEST you'll ever enjoy. Stellar fondue opens the show, with a delightful Caesar salad as your second act. Creamed spinach with accent on the spinach, thank God, (so many drown that splendid foliage with thick creams or whatever - this creamed spinach stars the shrub!), and of course Yorkshire pudding (so fine as Tammed!!), with marvelous au juice wherever you want. Add a glorious baked potatoe and of course the Tam's "horsey sauce", and so help me Orson Welles, you too can eat like the famed movie director, who surely spent half his picture's budget on sneaky little visits to this great but intimate place. Red phone booth outside, along with valet parking, gives you the full evening you won't forget throughout your lifetime. You don't need the rest: the TAM O'SHANTER is the best! Do what Mr. Epicure does ... eat there whenever possible.

The restaurant’s tutor-style exterior transports patrons to the classic era of British taverns, while inside, an impressive Scottish tartan collection lines the walls. Eclectic European décor from old world flags to a period-appropriate uniformed staff to the tavernesque bar when you enter this humble establishment will make you think you’re really somewhere else. Old friends gather at the bar for their daily brew, and cordial servers are helpful and efficiently take care to make sure you feel at home. The old-style quaint ambiance is an attraction all to itself. Dimly lit inside, your eyes will have to adjust for a moment. But as they do, you’ll be pleased that you decided to stop by.

A very cool nostalgic place, with a history dating back over a hundred years. Had a traditional corned beef dinner to celebrate my birthday, the corned beef was cooked perfectly. Our waitress was very nice and quite pleasant and included our introduction with a brief history of the location. We sat at the famous Walt Disney table. All in all was a wonderful experience.

Great historic place. I stopped in by myself during travel from Palm Dessert to Santa Barbara. I had the Tam O Shanter cut prime rib with mashed and creamed spinach. I also had the French onion soup and sticky toffee pudding. The soup and pudding were pretty good. The prime rib was great. The history and atmosphere are worth the visit.

A historical place to eat prime rib as they have been around for 100 years. Lots of artifacts relating to Walt Disney are shown around the restaurant. You can also request to sit at Walt's table 31. The Prime Rib was yummy, but not as good as Lawry's carved table side. The Cesar salad was OK. The service was good and busboys kept our water filled. The atmosphere here is generally good, but the this time there was a young boy at the next table that was loud and making shrieking sounds constantly that ruined our dining experience. Wish parents would do more to control their kids or take them outside. Good place to have a prime rib dinner, but would still recommend Lawry's over them.

We came to Tam’s as part of a self-designed Walt Disney tour. We made reservations in advance and requested Walt’s table - which they were able to provide. Such an amazing opportunity to dine in the place where so much magic was born. However, not only was Tam’s a great Disney destination, but the food is amazing. We wanted to order so many things on the menu - but settled on the prime rib - which was absolutely outstanding. I would definitely return here again for prime rib and the ambiance alone. Definitely recommend!

Love the atmosphere here. Feels very old school and love the coziness of this restaurant. It has alot of history, like the seat that Walt Disney always sat on. Prime rib cuts and taste are identical to lawry's minus the whole fine dining experience.

My husband and I got the opportunity to dine here as part of our Walt tour with the Anaheim tour company. Walt Disney frequented this place himself and there is a booth where he sat with an embossed placard on it. If you look very closely at the table you will see one of the sketches that he drew. We had the opportunity to sit there for a photo picture. His table was number 31 and Walt has a drink named for him. Also note the restaurant models Snow White's cottage with the dwarves. We were actually seated at a booth where John Wayne ate. Our tour guide left us alone to dine. Our waiter was most friendly and helpful. My husband had the fish and chips while I had the cheeseburger and fries. Although we waited some time to get the food it was indeed worth the wait. They were both delicious! During that time I got to see the other rooms in the restaurant and some of the characture portraits they had hanging. They have a full bar here. Although known for their prime rib we decided to skip that since we wanted to split a dessert. We decided to get a strawberry trifle and asked our waiter to hurry up since we didn't want to overextend our stay while on a tour clock. He did so and gave us two spoons and forks so we could enjoy it. It wasn't overly heavy and was sweet and yummy! We paid the check and had a look outside. There is a British style phone booth and nice scenery by the front door. We were so happy we had an opportunity to dine here where otherwise we would not have had a chance were we not on tour. Definitely will return here again if I'm ever in the area.

We went here for the first time recently and requested to sit at "Table 31", a favorite of Walt Disney's. The ambience, service and food were all outstanding. Gerardo was our server, and his attention to detail was incredible. Throughout the meal he gave us fun little snippets of info about the restaurant, the recipes, and the history of the table we were seated at. He even pulled up pictures to show us how the restaurant's old stone oven interior may have led to the inspiration for Snow White. He was extremely attentive to our every request and made a very pleasant visit that much better. He even explained how Tam O'Shanter got the rights and recipe for the CC Brown's hot fudge, which is exclusively used at the restaurant for their sundaes, and is the best hot fudge I've ever had. The food was great, as to be expected from a Lawry's Company restaurant. Everything was cooked perfectly, the drinks and drink service were impeccable and the ice cream sundae was out of this world. Would highly recommend giving this place a visit if you're looking for Lawry's quality, but with less dress and a much more fun environment.

We have always loved the Tam. Our table had tape holding it together and plastic binding around the edge that was peeling and poking. The staff varied and dressed way too casually for a nice restaurant. The French Onion soup was too salty and I LOVE salty. Even the Valet didn't touch a door on the car. Still okay, but perhaps not worth the prices they charge for "fine dining". Made me sad, really.
