Was bummed the squid pasta was off the menu for Valentine’s Day. But the egg daviolo was awesome and I ate my friends oxtail pasta lol. Very fresh and homemade. The huckleberry donuts were excellent. Olive oil was very good w the bread. Great flavor. Wine selection was on point. And the grilled octopus was amazing. Great portion size. Excellent contrast in texture and mild harmonious blend of flavors.
Superb service, lovely atmosphere and a wonderfully varied menu. The flavor combinations were unique and delicious. The much-touted ravioli exceeded our expectations; octopus beautifully prepared; mozzarella bar fun and unique. Vin Santo dessert wine with olive oil cake: it doesn't get much better than this!
Drinks, appetizers, and pastas are good (5 stars) but the main course meat entrees are average (3 stars) and arguably below average if you consider the pricing. The meats are grilled so it has the char but not seared well so the texture is bland (I suppose that’s how most European places grill their steaks). The service is very friendly but not detailed - they are not knowledgeable on how the dishes are made and basically recommended everything as amazing which doesn’t help you decide at all. Overall, 4 stars so a good place but for the price, you can find better places.
Absolutely phenomenal! Great food, great service, really worth the trip. All of the pasta dishes were like little bites of heaven. The caeser was unique but tasted amazing and the mozzarella with tinned fish should be eaten every day!
Very good restaurant. Food was amazing, with great dishes in each course. Notably, the steak, corn pasta, and pepper mozzarella were superb.
The service was very good and prompt. Waiters were fun and quick to help. Food came out at a reasonable pace as well.
The atmosphere is great as well. The decor is dark, but with high ceilings, feels classy and not at all claustrophobic.
Definitely worth a visit.
I came here for my 23rd birthday for a nice treat, and it was worth every penny. Overall, this was some of the best Italian inspired cuisine I have ever had in my life, coming second only to NYC. The pasta was very well done, with excellent flavor combinations in the proteins included with them. The appetizers were fantastic as well, with particular emphasis on the deconstructed ceasar salad.
The staff were friendly, upbeat, and overall happy that we were there. They genuinely got to know what my level of familiarity was with the dishes they were offering, and in return gave excellent recommendations for drink and food.
Overall, it is a no brainer that I will be returning here, there isn't a thing not to like!
This was a top place I wanted to try as I make my way through the Michelin Guide and it was 100% worth the stop! The servers were extremely helpful in picking some top options to try. Also, the in-house wine expert was helpful. I expressed to him what type of wine I typically like but that I wasn’t interested in an OTT bottle (I was by myself lol) and he was more than happy to help pick a happy medium.
A one-star Michelin Italian restaurant that I made a reservation for at 7:00 PM, but it was fully booked. Every dish was exceptional, but the burrata, in particular, was delicious. I heard they have a pizza place as well, so I'd love to visit that sometime.
After immersing myself in the captivating series "Chef's Table," showcasing the world's top 50 chefs, I couldn't pass up the chance to visit Osteria during my trip to Los Angeles. However, I had to extend my stay by one more day as the restaurant was closed on Thanksgiving, the day of my original visit. Filled with anticipation, I finally arrived at Osteria , Nancy, the renowned chef, was not present. Nonetheless, the atmosphere and the staff's attentiveness were exceptional. The appetizers served were truly delightful, but unfortunately, the steak salad turned out to be overly acidic, making it a challenging dish to enjoy. As for the drinks, they were alright but didn't stand out. Personally, I was left slightly disappointed with the overall dining experience at Osteria. However, I did have the pleasure of having a remarkable breakfast at La Brea, another establishment owned by Nancy, which truly impressed me.
Truly top quality Italian fare. Very professional service from staff. Ingredients above standard, you can taste the quality and skill involved in prepping these dishes. In house burrata of impeccable quality. Highly suggest the burrata sample option.
Regrettably, our reservation was delayed by over 20 minutes, causing some frustration.
Nevertheless, the moment we were seated, our experience drastically improved. The waiter attending to us displayed outstanding attentiveness, helpfulness, and kindness. Furthermore, the food surpassed our expectations. It’s one of the most delicious restaurants I visited in restaurants in Los Angeles! it’s still expensive, but great for the quality and overall experience.
I've been daydreaming about Osteria Mozza for a very long time. Luckily, my wife secured us reservations as a surprise birthday gift and Mozza did NOT disappoint! I'm glad it didn't, we drove 1.5 hrs to make it happen.
Location/Parking
The restaurant is on the corner of Highland and Melrose. They don't have a parking lot onsite, but there is valet service for about $15 (this is Nov., 27, 2023). The restaurant opens at 1730 and we arrived at 1700. Mozza has a smaller pizzeria/bar next door so we opted for a drink before our reservation (the pizzeria looks great and we're going to have to return to try it out).
Restaurant
The restaurant opened at 1730 and we were received by incredibly friendly staff. The male staff wore white dress shirts and most had ties...loved this attention to detail. My wife mentioned that it was my birthday as soon as we walked in. Our waiter, bussers and other staff wished me a happy birthday. Another piece of attention to detail that made us appreciate the level of organization and training that has happened...to that end - THANK YOU!
As expected, the front of the house and bathrooms were very clean and comfortable. Our waiter was very patient and proactively asked questions to ensure that our experience exceeded our expectations. Again, more attention to detail and superb training.
The food was visually appealing and incredibly delicious.
Antipasti: My wife's octopus was cooked to perfection and my baby chicory salad was refreshing and solidly good.
Primi: The aglio e olio and caccio e pepe were perfect. However, our favorite, by far, was the aglio e olio. It's impressive how many restaurants can't make a decent aglio e olio. For us, Mozza has set the standard for this seemingly simple dish.
Secondi: the beef tagliata with a side of roasted baby carrots was...well, delicious. Cannot recommend this dish enough.
Dolci: the tiramisu was delicious. Don't visit Mozza without enjoying tiramisu and an Americano or espresso. You owe it to yourself.
In short, this was a long awaited experience that exceeded my expectations. More importantly, thank you to everyone that made the experience so pleasurable. Our waiter/busser combo was a topnotch team; very attentive, never got close to running out of water or wine.
