Carlitos' Mexican Restaurant

I went to Carlitos for lunch with My sister today and it was the worst dining experience I’ve ever had. When we walked in the owner was standing behind a desk/register, he pointed to the dining room and told us “sit on the left side”. No one gave us menus until we asked and the waitress (owners wife) was very snooty. I didn’t like the enchiladas I ordered because they were kind or chewy and tough. I told our waitress and asked if I could trade my plate for something else. She said she’d have to charge for the new plate which is understandable. When we went to the front to pay the owner tried to make me pay for both plates and said, “It’s not my problem you didn’t like it” I said that I didn’t realize I’d have to pay for both even though I sent one plate back and he said “fine then don’t come back.” I was just shocked. Maybe I’m spoiled because I work at Papacitas where the atmosphere is happy and people are nice and the servers and management work hard to make sure the customers are taken care of and get great service. I don’t know. I just felt really shocked by the way we were treated especially since my sister is a regular and it costs about $2 for a restaurant to make an enchilada plate. It’s not like I ordered a lobster tail and then tried to send it back...😢😫

Last week, I had the same horrible experience as Kelsey D. Slimy greasy chille relleno and bland rice and beans. More grease on my plate than food. The owner said my plate was made fresh. I said it's a fresh plate of grease! He never offered me something else to choose from menu or anything. I like Posados and Papacitas where they make it right. It was ten years before i ate at subpar Carlito's, and I'm disappointed that i gave the restaurant another shot. I'm never going back to Carlitos again.

This was the worst dining experience!! The food was ok, the margaritas were terrible! My husband and I ordred top shelf margaritas and when we received them they tasted dirty. Like the mix was old and absolutely no hint of tequila. I decided to send my margarita back! When we went to pay the bill we asked the waitress to confirm that it was removed from the tab. She told us to let the owner know as we got ready to pay the bill. When we reached the front counter and spoke to the owner he basically said that IT WASN'T HIS PROBLEM and it was just my opinion!!!!! In all my years of dining out I've never been treated that way. I wanted to leave without tipping but knew that it wasn't the waitresses fault. She did a good job. After we paid I decided to go speak to the waitress and explained his behavior towards us. I explained that I almost left without tipping but knew that his behavior wasn't her fault. I ensured that she didn't have to split her tip with mgmt and told her that we would never return to the place of business. So if your looking for good food with great margaritas, definitely not the place! I feel bad for the staff.

Well the food was very good , the service was ok. But when someone walks into a restaurant and the host looks at the guests from too to bottom ( maybe because of their attire don't know) makes a person feel some kind of way. Like you don't belong. But being from the same race. Well that is a different story. Any how Mr. Carlitos thank you for your time and the ladies were devine.

I always forget about Carlitos with so many other Mexican food choices in Longview. More than 13 years ago I remember their food being so good. So, for lunch today we ordered take out. Tacos al Carbon and Texas Enchiladas. The Tacos al Carbon were bland and prepped like regular tacos but with cubed fajita beef. It was supposed to come with rice and beans. It only came with beans. The Texas Enchiladas were okay. Tasted more like tamales. This was also supposed to come with rice and beans. It only came with rice. Today's experience completely made me forget how good this place once was. Save your money and go to Papacitas.
